11Be imitatorsG3402 of me, justG2531 asG2531 I alsoG2532 am of ChristG5547.
2NowG1161 2I praiseG1867 you becauseG3754 you 3rememberG3403 me in everythingG3956 and 4holdG2722 firmlyG2722 toG2722 the traditionsG3862, justG2531 asG2531 I handedG3860 them downG3860 to you. 3But I wantG2309 you to understandG3609 that ChristG5547 is the 5headG2776 of everyG3956 manG435, and 67the manG435 is the headG2776 of a womanG1135, and GodG2316 is the 8headG2776 of ChristG5547. 4EveryG3956 manG435 who hasG2192 something on his headG2776 while prayingG4336 orG2228 9prophesyingG4395 disgracesG2617 his headG2776. 5But everyG3956 10womanG1135 who has her headG2776 uncoveredG177 while prayingG4336 orG2228 prophesyingG4395 disgracesG2617 her headG2776, for it is oneG1520 and the sameG846 as the womanG1135 11whose head is 12shavedG3587. 6For ifG1487 a womanG1135 does not coverG2619 13her head, have her alsoG2532 14cutG2751 her hairG2751 offG2751; howeverG1161, ifG1487 it is disgracefulG150 for a womanG1135 to 15have her hairG2751 cutG2751 offG2751 orG2228 16her head shavedG3587, have her coverG2619 17her head. 7For a manG435 shouldG3784 not have his headG2776 coveredG2619, since he is the 18imageG1504 and gloryG1391 of GodG2316; but the womanG1135 is the gloryG1391 of manG435. 8For 19manG435 20does not originateG1510 from womanG1135, but womanG1135 from manG435; 9for indeedG2532 manG435 was not createdG2936 for the woman’sG1135 sakeG1223, but 21womanG1135 for the man’sG435 sakeG1223. 10ThereforeG1223G3778 the womanG1135 shouldG3784 haveG2192 a symbol of authorityG1849 on her headG2776, becauseG1223 of the angelsG32. 11HoweverG4133, in the LordG2962, neitherG3777 is womanG1135 22independentG5565 of manG435, norG3777 is manG435 23independentG5565 of womanG1135. 12For as the womanG1135 originated from the manG435, soG3779 alsoG2532 the manG435 has his birth throughG1223 the womanG1135; and 24allG3956 thingsG3956 originate 25from GodG2316. 1326JudgeG2919 27for yourselvesG4771G846: is it properG4241 for a womanG1135 to prayG4336 to GodG2316 with her head uncoveredG177? 14Does evenG3761 natureG5449 itselfG846 not teachG1321 you that ifG1437 a manG435 hasG2863 longG2863 hairG2863, it is a dishonorG819 to him, 15but ifG1437 a womanG1135 hasG2863 longG2863 hairG2863, it is a gloryG1391 to her? For her hairG2864 is givenG1325 to her as a coveringG4018. 16But ifG1487 anyoneG5100 is inclinedG1380 to be contentiousG5380, 28we haveG2192 noG3756 29suchG5108 practiceG4914, norG3761 have 30the churchesG1577 of GodG2316.
17NowG1161 in givingG3853 thisG3778 next instructionG3853 31I do not praiseG1867 you, becauseG3754 you comeG4905 togetherG4905 not for the betterG2909, but for the worseG2269. 18For, in the firstG4413 place, when you comeG4905 togetherG4905 32as a churchG1577, I hearG191 that 3334divisionsG4978 existG5225 amongG1722 you; and in partG3313 I believeG4100 it. 19For there alsoG2532 35haveG1163 toG1163 be factionsG139 amongG1722 you, 36soG2443 thatG2443 thoseG3588 who are approvedG1384 may becomeG1096 37evidentG5318 amongG1722 you. 20ThereforeG3767 when you comeG4905 togetherG1909G3588G846 it is not to eatG2068 the Lord’sG2960 SupperG1173, 21for whenG1722 you eatG2068, eachG1538 oneG1538 takesG4301 his ownG2398 supperG1173 firstG4301; and oneG3739G3303 goesG3983 hungryG3983 while 38anotherG3739G1161 getsG3184 drunkG3184. 22WhatG1063! Do you not haveG2192 housesG3614 in which to eatG2068 and drinkG4095? OrG2228 do you despiseG2706 the 39churchG1577 of GodG2316 and 40shameG2617 thoseG3588 who haveG2192 nothingG3361? WhatG5101 am I to sayG3004 to you? Shall 41I praiseG1867 you? In thisG3778 I do not praiseG1867 you.
The Lord’s Supper
23For 42I receivedG3880 from the LordG2962 that whichG3739 I alsoG2532 deliveredG3860 to you, that 43the LordG2962 JesusG2424, on the nightG3571 whenG3739 He was betrayedG3860, tookG2983 breadG740; 24and when He had givenG2168 thanksG2168, He brokeG2806 it and saidG3004, “ThisG3778 is My bodyG4983, which is for you; doG4160 thisG3778 in remembranceG364 of Me.” 25In the sameG5615 wayG5615 He alsoG2532 took 44the cupG4221 afterG3326 supperG1172, sayingG3004, “ThisG3778 cupG4221 is the 45newG2537 covenantG1242 in My bloodG129; doG4160 thisG3778, as oftenG3740 as you drinkG4095 it, in remembranceG364 of Me.” 26For as oftenG3740 as you eatG2068 thisG3778 breadG740 and drinkG4095 the cupG4221, you proclaimG2605 the Lord’sG2962 deathG2288 46untilG891 He comesG2064.
27ThereforeG5620 whoeverG3739G302 eatsG2068 the breadG740 orG2228 drinksG4095 the cupG4221 of the LordG2962 in an unworthyG371 wayG371, shall be 47guiltyG1777 of the bodyG4983 and the bloodG129 of the LordG2962. 28But a personG444 must 48examineG1381 himselfG1438, and inG3779 soG3779 doingG3779 he is to eatG2068 of the breadG740 and drinkG4095 of the cupG4221. 29For the oneG3588 who eatsG2068 and drinksG4095, eatsG2068 and drinksG4095 judgmentG2917 to himselfG1438 if he does not properly recognizeG1252 the 49bodyG4983. 30For thisG3778 reasonG1223 manyG4183 amongG1722 you are weakG772 and sickG732, and a numberG2425 5051areG2837 asleepG2837. 31But ifG1487 we judgedG1252 ourselvesG1438 rightlyG1252, we would not be judgedG2919. 32But when we are judgedG2919, we are 52disciplinedG3811 by the LordG2962 soG2443 thatG2443 we will not be condemnedG2632 alongG4862 with 53the worldG2889.
33SoG5620 thenG5620, my brothersG80 and sisters, when you comeG4905 togetherG4905 to eatG2068, waitG1551 forG1551 oneG240 anotherG240. 34IfG1487 anyoneG5100 is 54hungryG3983, have him eatG2068 55at homeG3624, soG2443 thatG2443 you do not comeG4905 togetherG4905 for judgmentG2917. As to the remainingG3062 mattersG3062, I will 56giveG1299 instructionsG1299 57whenG5613 I comeG2064.
