1 Corinthians 2

Paul’s Reliance upon the Spirit

1And when I cameG2064 to you, brothersG80 and sisters, I 1did not comeG2064 as someone superiorG5247 in 2speakingG3056 abilityG3056 orG2228 3wisdomG4678, as I proclaimedG2605 to you 4the 5testimonyG3142 of GodG2316. 2For I determinedG2919 to knowG3609 nothingG3756G5100 amongG1722 you exceptG1508 6JesusG2424 ChristG5547, and Him crucifiedG4717. 3I alsoG2532 was with you in 7weaknessG769 and 8fearG5401, and in greatG4183 tremblingG5156, 4and my 9messageG3056 and my preachingG2782 were 10not in persuasiveG3981 wordsG3056 of 11wisdomG4678, but in demonstrationG585 of 12the SpiritG4151 and of powerG1411, 5soG2443 thatG2443 your faithG4102 would not 13restG1510 on the 14wisdomG4678 of mankindG444, but on 15the powerG1411 of GodG2316.

6YetG1161 we do speakG2980 wisdomG4678 amongG1722 thoseG3588 who are 16matureG5046; a wisdomG4678, howeverG1161, not of 17thisG3778 ageG165 norG3761 of the rulersG758 of 18thisG3778 ageG165, who are 19passingG2673 awayG2673; 7but we speakG2980 God’sG2316 wisdomG4678 in a 20mysteryG3466, the hiddenG613 wisdom whichG3739 GodG2316 21predestinedG4309 beforeG4253 the 22agesG165 to our gloryG1391; 8the wisdom 23whichG3739 noneG3762 of the rulersG758 of 24thisG3778 ageG165 has understoodG1097; for ifG1487 they had understoodG1097 it, they would not have crucifiedG4717 25the LordG2962 of gloryG1391; 9but justG2531 asG2531 it is writtenG1125: “26Things whichG3739 eyeG3788 has not seenG3708 and earG3775 has not heardG191, And which have not enteredG305 the humanG444 heartG2588, AllG3745 that GodG2316 has preparedG2090 for thoseG3588 who loveG25 Him.” 102728For to us GodG2316 revealedG601 them 29throughG1223 the SpiritG4151; for the SpiritG4151 searchesG2038 allG3956 thingsG3956, evenG2532 the 30depthsG899 of GodG2316. 11For whoG5101 among peopleG444 knowsG3609 the thoughts of a personG444 exceptG1508 the 31spiritG4151 of the personG444 that is in him? SoG3779 alsoG2532 the thoughts of GodG2316 noG3762 oneG3762 knowsG1097, exceptG1508 the SpiritG4151 of GodG2316. 12NowG1161 we 32have not receivedG2983 the spiritG4151 of 33the worldG2889, but the SpiritG4151 whoG3588 is from GodG2316, soG2443 thatG2443 we may knowG3609 the thingsG5483 freelyG5483 givenG5483 to us by GodG2316. 13We alsoG2532 speakG2980 theseG3739 things, 34not in wordsG3056 taughtG1318 by humanG442 wisdomG4678, but in those taughtG1318 by the SpiritG4151, 35combiningG4793 spiritualG4152 thoughts with spiritualG4152 words.

14But 36a 37naturalG5591 personG444 38does not acceptG1209 the things of the SpiritG4151 of GodG2316, for they are 39foolishnessG3472 to him; and he cannotG1410G3756 understandG1097 them, becauseG3754 they are spirituallyG4153 discernedG350. 15But the one who is 40spiritualG4152 discernsG350 allG3956 thingsG3956, yetG1161 he himselfG846 is 41discernedG350 by noG3762 oneG3762. 16For 42whoG5101 has knownG1097 the mindG3563 of the LordG2962, that he will instructG4822 Him? But 43we haveG2192 the mindG3563 of ChristG5547.
