Mark 9:11-50
11They askedG1905 Him, sayingG3004, “Why is it that the scribesG1122 sayG3004 that 1ElijahG2243 mustG1163 comeG2064 firstG4413?” 12And He saidG5346 to them, “ElijahG2243 does firstG4413 comeG2064 and restoreG600 allG3956 thingsG3956. And yet howG4459 is it writtenG1125 of 2the SonG5207 of ManG444 that 3He will sufferG3958 manyG4183 thingsG4183 and be treatedG1847 with contemptG1847? 13But I sayG3004 to you that ElijahG2243 has 4indeedG2532 comeG2064, and they didG4160 to him whateverG3745 they wishedG2309, justG2531 as it is writtenG1125 of him.”
145When they cameG2064 back to the disciplesG3101, they sawG3708 a largeG4183 crowdG3793 aroundG4012 them, and some scribesG1122 arguingG4802 with them. 15ImmediatelyG2117, when the entireG3956 crowdG3793 sawG3708 Him, they were 6amazedG1568 and began runningG4370 up to greetG782 Him. 16And He askedG1905 them, “WhatG5101 are you discussingG4802 with them?” 17And oneG1520 of the crowdG3793 answeredG611 Him, “TeacherG1320, I broughtG5342 You my sonG5207, possessedG2192 with a spiritG4151 which makes him muteG216; 18and 7wheneverG3699 it seizesG2638 him, it 8slamsG4486 him to the ground and he foamsG875 at the mouth, and grindsG5149 his teethG3599 and 9stiffensG3583 out. I toldG3004 Your disciplesG3101 to castG1544 it out, and they couldG2480 not do it.” 19And He answeredG611 them and saidG3004, “OG5599 unbelievingG571 generationG1074, howG2193 longG2193G4219 shall I be with you? HowG2193 longG2193G4219 shall I putG430 up with you? BringG5342 him to Me!” 20They broughtG5342 10the boy to Him. WhenG2532 he sawG3708 Him, immediatelyG2117 the spiritG4151 threwG4952 him into a convulsionG4952, and fallingG4098 to the groundG1093, he began rollingG2947 aroundG2947 and foamingG875 at the mouth. 21And He askedG1905 his fatherG3962, “HowG4214 longG5550 has thisG3778 beenG1510 happeningG1096 to him?” And he saidG3004, “From childhoodG3812. 22It has oftenG4178 thrownG906 him bothG2532 into the fireG4442 and into the waterG5204 to destroyG622 him. But ifG1487 You canG1410 do anythingG5100, takeG4697 pityG4697 on us and helpG997 us!” 23And JesusG2424 saidG3004 to him, “‘IfG1487 You canG1410?’ 11AllG3956 thingsG3956 are possibleG1415 to him who believesG4100.” 24ImmediatelyG2117 the boy’sG3813 fatherG3962 criedG2896 out and saidG3004, “I do believeG4100; helpG997 my unbeliefG570.” 25When JesusG2424 sawG3708 that 12a crowdG3793 was 13rapidlyG1998 gatheringG1998, He rebukedG2008 the uncleanG169 spiritG4151, sayingG3004 to it, “You deafG2974 and muteG216 spiritG4151, I 14commandG2004 you, comeG1831 out of him and do not enterG1525 him 15againG3371.” 26After cryingG2896 out and throwingG4682 him into terribleG4183 convulsionsG4682, it cameG1831 out; and the boy becameG1096 so muchG5616 likeG5616 a corpseG3498 that mostG4183 of them saidG3004, “He is deadG599!” 27But JesusG2424 tookG2902 him by the handG5495 and raisedG1453 him; and he gotG450 up. 28When He cameG1525 16into the houseG3624, His disciplesG3101 began questioningG1905 Him privatelyG2596G2398, “WhyG3739G5101 couldG1410 we not driveG1544 it out?” 29And He saidG3004 to them, “ThisG3778 kindG1085 cannotG1410G3762 comeG1831 out by anythingG3762 but prayerG4335.”
3017From thereG2547 they wentG1831 out and began to goG3899 throughG1223 GalileeG1056, and He did not wantG2309 anyoneG5100 to knowG1097 about it. 31For He was teachingG1321 His disciplesG3101 and tellingG3004 them, “18The SonG5207 of ManG444 is to be 19deliveredG3860 into the handsG5495 of menG444, and they will killG615 Him; and when He has been killedG615, He will riseG450 threeG5140 daysG2250 laterG3326.” 32But 20they 21did not understandG50 this statementG4487, and they were afraidG5399 to askG1905 Him.
3322They cameG2064 to CapernaumG2746; and when He 23was in 24the houseG3614, He began to questionG1905 them, “WhatG5101 were you discussingG1260 on the wayG3598?” 34But they keptG4623 silentG4623, for on the wayG3598 25they had discussedG1256 with oneG240 anotherG240 whichG5101 of them was the greatestG3173. 35SittingG2523 downG2523, He calledG5455 the twelveG1427 and saidG3004 to them, “26IfG1487 anyoneG5100 wantsG2309 to be firstG4413, 27he shall be lastG2078 of allG3956 and servantG1249 of allG3956.” 36TakingG2983 a childG3813, He setG2476 him 28beforeG1722G3319 them, and takingG1723 him in His armsG1723, He saidG3004 to them, 37“29WhoeverG3739G302 receivesG1209 30oneG1520 childG3813 likeG5108 thisG5108 in My nameG3686 receivesG1209 Me; and whoeverG3739G302 receivesG1209 Me does not receiveG1209 Me, but Him who sentG649 Me.”
3831JohnG2491 saidG5346 to Him, “TeacherG1320, we sawG3708 someoneG5100 castingG1544 out demonsG1140 in Your nameG3686, and 32we tried to preventG2967 him becauseG3754 he was not followingG190 us.” 39But JesusG2424 saidG3004, “Do not hinderG2967 him, for there is noG3762 oneG3762 whoG3739 will performG4160 a miracleG1411 in My nameG3686, and be ableG1410 soonG5035 afterwardG5035 to speakG2551 evilG2551 of Me. 4033For he whoG3739 is not againstG2596 us is 34for us. 41For 35whoeverG3739G302 givesG4222 you a cupG4221 of waterG5204 to drinkG4222 36becauseG3754 of your nameG3686 as followers of ChristG5547, trulyG281 I sayG3004 to you, he will not loseG622 his rewardG3408.
42“37WhoeverG3739 causesG4624 oneG1520 of theseG3778 38littleG3398 onesG3398 who believeG4100 to stumbleG4624, it 39would be betterG2570G3123 for him ifG1487, with a heavyG3684 millstoneG3458 hungG4029 aroundG4012 his neckG5137, he 40had been castG906 into the seaG2281. 4341IfG1437 your handG5495 causesG4624 you to stumbleG4624, cutG609 it offG609; it is betterG2570 for you to enterG1525 lifeG2222 crippledG2948, thanG2228, havingG2192 your twoG1417 handsG5495, to goG565 into 4243hellG1067, into the 44unquenchableG762 fireG4442, 44[45whereG3699 their wormG4663 does not dieG5053, and the fireG4442 is not quenchedG4570.] 45IfG1437 your footG4228 causesG4624 you to stumbleG4624, cutG609 it offG609; it is betterG2570 for you to enterG1525 lifeG2222 lameG5560, thanG2228, havingG2192 your twoG1417 feetG4228, to be castG906 into 4647hellG1067, 46[48whereG3699 their wormG4663 does not dieG5053, and the fireG4442 is not quenchedG4570.] 4749IfG1437 your eyeG3788 causesG4624 you to stumbleG4624, throwG1544 it out; it is betterG2570 for you to enterG1525 the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 with oneG3442 eyeG3442, thanG2228, havingG2192 twoG1417 eyesG3788, to be castG1544 into 5051hellG1067, 4852whereG3699 their wormG4663 does not dieG5053, and 53the fireG4442 is not quenchedG4570.
49“For everyoneG3956 will be saltedG233 with fireG4442. 50SaltG217 is goodG2570; but 54ifG1437 the saltG217 becomesG1096 unsaltyG358, with whatG5101 will you 55makeG741 it saltyG741 again? 56HaveG2192 saltG217 in yourselvesG1438, and 57be at peaceG1514 with oneG240 anotherG240.”
