Jeremiah 6:18-30

18ThereforeH3651 hearH8085, ye nationsH1471, and knowH3045, O assemblyH5712, what is among them. 19HearH8085, O earthH776: behold, I will bringH935 evilH7451 upon this peopleH5971, the fruitH6529 of their thoughtsH4284; for they have not hearkened unto my wordsH1697, and as to my lawH8451, they have rejectedH3988 it. 20To what purpose should there comeH935 to me incense from ShebaH7614, and the sweet caneH7070 from a far country? Your burnt-offerings are not acceptable, nor are your sacrificesH2077 pleasingH6149 unto me. 21ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah: Behold, I will lay stumbling-blocks before this peopleH5971, and the fathersH1 and the sonsH1121 togetherH3162 shall fall over them; the neighbour and his friendH7453 shall perishH6. 22ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: Behold, a peopleH5971 cometh from the northH6828 country, and a greatH1419 nationH1471 is stirredH5782 up from the uttermost partsH3411 of the earthH776. 23They lay holdH2388 on bowH7198 and spear; they are cruelH394, and have no mercyH7355; their voiceH6963 roareth like the seaH3220; and they rideH7392 upon horsesH5483, set in array as a manH376 for the battleH4421, against thee, daughterH1323 of ZionH6726. 24We have heardH8085 the reportH8089 thereof: our handsH3027 are grown feeble; anguishH2427 hath takenH2388 holdH2388 of us, pain as of a woman that travaileth. 25GoH3318 not forthH3318 into the fieldH7704, nor walk by the wayH1870; for [there is] the swordH2719 of the enemyH341, terrorH4032 is on every side. 26DaughterH1323 of my peopleH5971, girdH2296 thee with sackclothH8242, and rollH6428 thyself in ashesH665: makeH6213 mourningH60, [as] for an onlyH3173 sonH3173 — bitter lamentation; for the spoiler cometh suddenlyH6597 upon us. 27I have setH5414 thee among my peopleH5971 as an assayer, a fortressH4013, that thou mayest knowH3045 and try their wayH1870. 28They are all the most rebelliousH5637 of rebelsH5637, goingH1980 about with slander: they are bronzeH5178 and ironH1270; they are all corrupters. 29The bellows are burnedH2787, the leadH5777 is consumed by the fire; they have melted, and melted in vain; and the badH7451 are not plucked awayH5423. 30Reprobate silverH3701 shall they callH7121 them, for Jehovah hath rejectedH3988 them.
