Jeremiah 49:7-18

Concerning EdomH123. ThusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635: Is there no more wisdomH2451 in TemanH8487? is counselH6098 perishedH6 from the prudent? is their wisdomH2451 spent?

FleeH5127, turnH6437 backH6437, dwellH3427 deepH6009 downH3427, ye inhabitantsH3427 of DedanH1719! For I will bringH935 the calamityH343 of EsauH6215 upon him, the timeH6256 that I visitH6485 him.

If grape-gatherers had comeH935 to thee, would they not have leftH7604 a gleaning? If thievesH1590 by nightH3915, they would destroyH7843 only till they had enough.

But I have made EsauH6215 bare, I have uncoveredH1540 his secretH4565 placesH4565, that he is unable to hideH2247 himself: his seedH2233 is wasted, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he is not.

LeaveH5800 thine orphans, I will preserveH2421 them aliveH2421; and let thy widowsH490 trustH982 in me.

For thusH3541 saith Jehovah: Behold, they whose judgmentH4941 was not to drinkH8354 of the cupH3563 shall assuredly drinkH8354; and thou indeed, shouldest thou be altogether unpunishedH5352? Thou shalt not goH5352 unpunishedH5352, but thou shalt surely drinkH8354.

For I have swornH7650 by myself, saith Jehovah, that BozrahH1224 shall becomeH1961 an astonishment, a reproachH2781, a wasteH2723, and a curseH7045; and all the citiesH5892 thereof shall beH1961 perpetual wastesH2723.

I have heardH8085 a rumour from Jehovah, and an ambassador is sentH7971 among the nationsH1471: — GatherH6908 yourselves togetherH6908, and comeH935 against her and riseH6965 up for the battleH4421.

For behold, I have madeH5414 thee smallH6996 among the nationsH1471, despisedH959 among menH120.

Thy terribleness, the prideH2087 of thy heartH3820, hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the cleftsH2288 of the rockH5553, that holdest the heightH4791 of the hillH1389. Though thou shouldest make thy nestH7064 highH4791 as the eagleH5404, I will bringH3381 thee downH3381 from thence, saith Jehovah.

And EdomH123 shall beH1961 an astonishment: every one that goeth by it shall beH1961 astonished, and shall hissH8319, because of all the plaguesH4347 thereof.

As in the overthrowH4114 of SodomH5467 and GomorrahH6017, and their neighbour cities, saith Jehovah, no oneH376 shall dwellH3427 there, neither shall a sonH1121 of manH376 sojourn therein.
