Jeremiah 44:7-19

And nowH6258 thusH3541 saith Jehovah the 1GodH430 of hostsH6635, the 2GodH430 of IsraelH3478: Wherefore commit ye greatH1419 evilH7451 against your soulsH5315, to cutH3772 off from you manH376 and womanH802, infant and suckling, out of the midstH8432 of JudahH3063, to leaveH3498 you no remnantH7611;

provokingH3707 me to angerH3707 with the worksH4639 of your handsH3027, burning incenseH6999 unto otherH312 3godsH430 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, whither ye are comeH935 to sojourn, that ye should beH1961 cutH3772 off, and that ye should beH1961 a curseH7045 and a reproachH2781 among all the nationsH1471 of the earthH776?

Have ye forgottenH7911 the wickednessH7451 of your fathersH1, and the wickednessH7451 of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063, and the wickednessH7451 of their wivesH802, and your own wickednessH7451, and the wickednessH7451 of your wivesH802, which they have committed in the landH776 of JudahH3063 and in the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389?

They are not humbled unto this dayH3117, neither have they fearedH3372, nor walkedH1980 in my lawH8451, nor in my statutesH2708 which I setH5414 before you and before your fathersH1.

ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith Jehovah of hostsH6635, the 4GodH430 of IsraelH3478: Behold, I will setH7760 my faceH6440 against you for evilH7451, and to cutH3772 off all JudahH3063.

And I will takeH3947 the remnantH7611 of JudahH3063, that have setH7760 their facesH6440 to enter into the landH776 of EgyptH4714 to sojourn there, and they shall all beH1961 consumed: in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 shall they fallH5307; they shall beH1961 consumed by the swordH2719 [and] by the famineH7458, from the least even unto the greatestH1419; they shall dieH4191 by the swordH2719 and by the famineH7458, and they shall beH1961 an execration, an astonishment, and a curseH7045, and a reproachH2781.

And I will punishH6485 them that dwellH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714 as I have punishedH6485 JerusalemH3389, by the swordH2719, by the famineH7458, and by the pestilenceH1698;

and none of the remnantH7611 of JudahH3063, that have comeH935 into the landH776 of EgyptH4714 to sojourn there, shall escapeH6412 or remainH3427, so as to returnH7725 into the landH776 of JudahH3063, whither they have a desireH5315 to returnH7725 to dwellH3427 there; for none shall returnH7725 but such as shall escapeH6412.

Then all the menH376 who knewH3045 that their wivesH802 burned incenseH6999 to otherH312 5godsH430, and all the womenH802 who stoodH5975 by, a greatH1419 assemblage, even all the peopleH5971 that dweltH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in PathrosH6624, answered JeremiahH3414, sayingH559,

[As for] the wordH1697 that thou hast spokenH1696 unto us in the nameH8034 of Jehovah, we will not hearken unto thee,

but we will certainly do every wordH1697 that is goneH3318 forthH3318 out of our mouthH6310, to burn incenseH6999 to the queenH4446 of the heavensH8064, and to pourH5258 out drink-offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathersH1, our kingsH4428 and our princesH8269, in the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 and in the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389; and we had plenty of breadH3899, and were well, and sawH7200 no evilH7451.

But since we left off burning incenseH6999 to the queenH4446 of the heavensH8064, and pouring out drink-offerings to her, we have wanted everythingH3605, and have been consumed by the swordH2719 and by the famineH7458.

And when we burned incenseH6999 to the queenH4446 of the heavensH8064 and poured out drink-offerings to her, did we makeH6213 for her cakes to portray her, and pourH5258 out drink-offerings to her, without our husbandsH376?
