Jeremiah 2:20-28
For of old thou hast brokenH7665 thy yokeH5923, [and] burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not serveH5647. For upon every highH1364 hillH1389, and under every green treeH6086, thou bowest downH7665, playingH2181 the harlot.
And I, — I had plantedH5193 thee a noble vineH1612, wholly a right seedH2233; howH349 then art thou turnedH2015 into the degenerate shoots of a strange vineH1612 unto me?
For though thou washH3526 thee with nitre, and take thee muchH7235 potash, thine iniquityH5771 is marked before me, saith the LordH136 Jehovah.
HowH4100 sayest thou, I am not defiledH2930, I have not goneH1980 after the BaalsH1168? SeeH7200 thy wayH1870 in the valleyH1516, acknowledge what thou hast done — a swiftH7031 dromedary traversing her waysH1870!
— a wildH6501 ass, used to the wildernessH4057, that snuffeth up the windH7307 in her desireH5315! In her ardour, who shall turnH7725 her awayH7725? All they that seekH1245 her will not wearyH3286 themselves; in her monthH2320 they shall findH4672 her.
WithholdH4513 thy footH7272 from being unshod, and thy throat from thirst. But thou saidst, There is no hope; no, for I loveH157 strangersH2114, and after them will I go.
As a thiefH1590 is ashamedH954 when he is foundH4672, soH3651 shall the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 be ashamedH954 — they, their kingsH4428, their princesH8269, and their priestsH3548, and their prophetsH5030 —
sayingH559 to a stock, Thou art my fatherH1; and to a stoneH68, Thou hast broughtH3205 me forthH3205; for they have turnedH6437 the backH6437 unto me, and not the faceH6440; and in the timeH6256 of their troubleH7451 they will sayH559, AriseH6965, and saveH3467 us!
WhereH834 then are thy 1godsH430 that thou hast madeH6213 for thyself? let them ariseH6965, if they can saveH3467 thee in the timeH6256 of thy troubleH7451: for as the numberH4557 of thy citiesH5892, are thy 2godsH430, O JudahH3063.
