Jeremiah 2:20-28
20“For longH5769 agoH5769 12I brokeH7665 your yokeH5923 And toreH5423 offH5423 your bondsH4147; But you saidH559, ‘I will not serveH5647!’ For on everyH3605 3highH1364 hillH1389 And underH8478 everyH3605 greenH7488 treeH6086 You have lainH6808 downH6808 as a harlotH2181.21Yet I 4plantedH5193 you a choiceH8321 vineH8321, A completelyH3605 faithfulH571 seedH2233. HowH349 then have you turnedH2015 yourself before Me Into the 5degenerateH5493 shoots of a foreignH5237 vineH1612?22AlthoughH3588H518 you 6washH3526 yourself with lyeH5427 And 7useH7235 muchH7235 soapH1287, The 8stainH3799 of your iniquityH5771 is beforeH6440 Me,” declaresH5002 the LordH136 9GodH3068.23“10HowH349 can you sayH559, ‘I am not defiledH2930, I have not goneH1980 afterH310 the 11BaalsH1168’? LookH7200 at your wayH1870 in the 12valleyH1516! KnowH3045 whatH4100 you have doneH6213! You are a swiftH7031 youngH1072 camelH1072 13entanglingH8308 her waysH1870,24A 14wildH6501 donkeyH6501 accustomedH3928 to the wildernessH4057, That sniffsH7602 the windH7307 in her passionH185H5315. In the time of her 15heatH8385 whoH4310 can turnH7725 her awayH7725? AllH3605 who seekH1245 her will not becomeH3286 wearyH3286; In her monthH2320 they will findH4672 her.25KeepH4513 your feetH7272 from being unshodH3182 And your throatH1627 from thirstH6773; But you saidH559, ‘16It is 17hopelessH2976! NoH3808! For I have 18lovedH157 strangersH2114, And afterH310 them I will walkH1980.’
26“As the 19thiefH1590 is shamedH954 whenH3588 he is discoveredH4672, SoH3651 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 is shamedH954; They, their kingsH4428, their princesH8269 And their priestsH3548 and their prophetsH5030,27Who sayH559 to a treeH6086, ‘You are my fatherH1,’ And to a stoneH68, ‘You gaveH3205 me birthH3205.’ For they have turnedH6437 their 20backH6203 to Me, And not their faceH6440; But in the 21timeH6256 of their 22troubleH7463 they will sayH559, ‘AriseH6965 and saveH3467 us.’28But whereH346 are your 23godsH430 WhichH834 you madeH6213 for yourself? Let them ariseH6965, ifH518 they can 24saveH3467 you In the timeH6256 of your 25troubleH7463; For 26according to the numberH4557 of your citiesH5892 Are your godsH430, O JudahH3063.
