Jeremiah 14:1-10
The wordH1697 of Jehovah that came to JeremiahH3414 concerning the drought.
JudahH3063 mourneth, and the gatesH8179 thereof languishH535, they are black unto the groundH776; and the cry of JerusalemH3389 goeth up.
And their noblesH117 sendH7971 their little onesH6810 for waterH4325: they comeH935 to the pits, they findH4672 no waterH4325; they returnH7725 with their vesselsH3627 emptyH7387; they are ashamedH954, they are confounded, and have coveredH2645 their headsH7218.
Because the groundH776 is chapt, for there hath beenH1961 no rainH1653 on the earthH776, the ploughmen are ashamedH954, they coverH2645 their headsH7218.
For the hind alsoH1571 calveth in the fieldH7704, and forsaketh [its young], because there is no grassH1877.
And the wildH6501 asses standH5975 on the heightsH8205, they snuff up the windH7307 like jackalsH8577; their eyesH5869 failH3615, because there is no herbage.
Jehovah, though our iniquitiesH5771 testifyH6030 against us, do thou actH6213 for thy name's sakeH4616; for our backslidings are manyH7231 — we have sinnedH2398 against thee.
Thou hope of IsraelH3478, its Saviour in the timeH6256 of troubleH6869, whyH4100 wilt thou beH1961 as a stranger in the landH776, and as a traveller that turneth asideH5186 to stayH3885 a night?
WhyH4100 wilt thou beH1961 as a manH376 astonished, as a mightyH1368 manH376 that cannot saveH3467? Yet thou, Jehovah, art in the midstH7130 of us, and we are calledH7121 by thy nameH8034: leave us not.
ThusH3541 saith Jehovah to this peopleH5971: Even soH3651 have they lovedH157 to wanderH5128, they have not refrained their feetH7272; and Jehovah hath no delightH7521 in them: nowH6258 will he rememberH2142 their iniquityH5771, and visitH6485 their sinsH2403.
