Jeremiah 14:1-10
1The wordH1697 of Jehovah that came to JeremiahH3414 concerning the drought.
2JudahH3063 mourneth, and the gatesH8179 thereof languishH535, they sit in black upon the groundH776; and the cry of JerusalemH3389 is goneH5927 up. 3And their noblesH117 sendH7971 their little onesH6810 to the watersH4325: they comeH935 to the cisterns, and findH4672 no waterH4325; they returnH7725 with their vesselsH3627 emptyH7387; they are putH954 to shameH954 and confounded, and coverH2645 their headsH7218. 4Because of the groundH776 which is cracked, for that no rainH1653 hath beenH1961 in the landH776, the plowmen are putH954 to shameH954, they coverH2645 their headsH7218. 5Yea, the hind alsoH1571 in the fieldH7704 calveth, and forsaketh her young, because there is no grassH1877. 6And the wildH6501 asses standH5975 on the bareH8205 heightsH8205, they pant for air like jackalsH8577; their eyesH5869 failH3615, because there is no herbage.
7Though our iniquitiesH5771 testifyH6030 against us, work thou for thy name’sH8034 sakeH4616, O Jehovah; for our backslidings are manyH7231; we have sinnedH2398 against thee. 8O thou hope of IsraelH3478, the Saviour thereof in the timeH6256 of troubleH6869, whyH4100 shouldest thou beH1961 as a sojournerH1616 in the landH776, and as a wayfaring man that turneth asideH5186 to tarry for a night? 9WhyH4100 shouldest thou beH1961 as a manH376 affrighted, as a mightyH1368 manH376 that cannot saveH3467? Yet thou, O Jehovah, art in the midstH7130 of us, and we are calledH7121 by thy nameH8034; leave us not.
10ThusH3541 saith Jehovah unto this peopleH5971, Even soH3651 have they lovedH157 to wanderH5128; they have not refrained their feetH7272: thereforeH3651 Jehovah doth not acceptH7521 them; nowH6258 will he rememberH2142 their iniquityH5771, and visitH6485 their sinsH2403.
