Romans 7
Darby Bible
1Are ye ignorantG50, brethren, (for I speakG2980 to those knowingG1097 lawG3551,) that lawG3551 rules over a manG444 as long as he livesG2198? 2For the married womanG1135 is boundG1210 by lawG3551 to her husbandG435 so long as he is aliveG2198; but if the husbandG435 should dieG599, she is clear from the lawG3551 of the husbandG435: 3so thenG3767, the husbandG435 beingG1510 aliveG2198, she shall beG1510 called an adulteressG3428 if she beG1510 to another manG435; but if the husbandG435 should dieG599, she isG1510 freeG1658 from the lawG3551, so as not to beG1510 an adulteressG3428, though she beG1510 to another manG435. 4SoG2443 that, my brethren, ye alsoG2532 have been made deadG3498 to the lawG3551 by the bodyG4983 of the ChristG5547, to be to another, who has been raisedG1453 up from among [the] deadG3498, in orderG2443 that we might bear fruitG2592 to 1GodG2316. 5For whenG3753 we wereG1510 in the fleshG4561 the passionsG3804 of sinsG266, which [wereG1510] by the lawG3551, wrought in our membersG3196 to bring forth fruitG2592 to deathG2288; 6but nowG1161 we are clear from the lawG3551, having diedG599 in that in which we were held, so that we should serveG1398 in newnessG2538 of spiritG4151, and not in oldness of letterG1121. 7What shall we sayG3004 thenG3767? [is] the lawG3551 sinG266? Far be the thought. But I had not knownG1097 sinG266, unless by lawG3551: for I had not had conscience alsoG5037 of lustG1939 unless the lawG3551 had saidG3004, Thou shalt not lustG1939; 8but sinG266, getting a point of attack by the commandmentG1785, wrought in me every lustG1939; for without lawG3551 sinG266 [was] deadG3498. 9But I was aliveG2198 without lawG3551 onceG4218; but the commandmentG1785 having comeG2064, sinG266 revived, but I died. 10And the commandmentG1785, which [was] for lifeG2222, was foundG2147, [as] to me, itself [to be] unto deathG2288: 11for sinG266, getting a point of attack by the commandmentG1785, deceivedG1818 me, and by it slew [me]. 12So that the lawG3551 indeed [is] holyG40, and the commandmentG1785 holyG40, and justG1342, and goodG18. 13Did thenG3767 that which is goodG18 becomeG1096 deathG2288 to me? Far be the thought. But sinG266, that it might appearG5316 sinG266, working deathG2288 to me by that which is goodG18; in orderG2443 that sinG266 by the commandmentG1785 might becomeG1096 exceeding sinfulG268. 14For we know that the lawG3551 isG1510 spiritualG4152: but I amG1510 fleshly, sold under sinG266. 15For that which I do, I do not own: for not what I will, this I do; but what I hateG3404, this I practise. 16But if what I do not will, this I practise, I consent to the lawG3551 that [it is] rightG2570. 17NowG1161 thenG1161 [it is] no longer I [that] do it, but the sinG266 that dwellsG3611 in me. 18For I know that in me, that isG1510, in my fleshG4561, goodG18 does not dwell: for to will isG1510 there with me, but to do rightG2570 [I find] not. 19For I do not practise the goodG18 that I will; but the evilG2556 I do not will, that I do. 20But if what I do not will, this I practise, [it is] noG3756 longer I [that] do it, but the sinG266 that dwellsG3611 in me. 21I findG2147 thenG686 the lawG3551 upon me who willG2309 to practise what is rightG2570, that with me evilG2556 is there. 22For I delight in the lawG3551 of 2GodG2316 accordingG2596 to the inward manG444: 23but I seeG991 another lawG3551 in my membersG3196, warring in opposition to the lawG3551 of my mindG3563, and bringing me into captivity to the lawG3551 of sinG266 which exists in my membersG3196. 24O wretchedG5005 manG444 that I [am]! who shall deliverG4506 me out of this bodyG4983 of deathG2288? 25I thankG5485 3GodG2316, through JesusG2424 ChristG5547 our LordG2962. So thenG3767 I myself with the mindG3563 serveG1398 4God's lawG3551; but with the fleshG4561 sin's lawG3551.
