Darby Bible

1I sayG3004 [the] truthG225 in ChristG5547, I lieG5574 not, my conscienceG4893 bearingG4828 witnessG4828 with me in [the] HolyG40 SpiritG4151, 2that I have greatG3173 griefG3077 and uninterrupted pain in my heartG2588, 3for I have wished, I myself, to beG1510 a curse from the ChristG5547 for my brethren, my kinsmen, accordingG2596 to fleshG4561; 4who areG1510 IsraelitesG2475; whose [isG1510] the adoptionG5206, and the gloryG1391, and the covenantsG1242, and the law-giving, and the serviceG2999, and the promisesG1860; 5whose [areG1510] the fathersG3962; and of whom, as accordingG2596 to fleshG4561, [isG1510] the ChristG5547, who isG1510 over all, 1GodG2316 blessed for ever. AmenG281. 6Not howeverG1161 as though the wordG3056 of 2GodG2316 had failed; for not all [are] IsraelG2474 which [are] of IsraelG2474; 7nor because they areG1510 seedG4690 of AbrahamG11 [areG1510] all childrenG5043: but, In IsaacG2464 shall a seedG4690 beG1510 calledG2564 to thee. 8That isG1510, [they that areG1510] the childrenG5043 of the fleshG4561, these [areG1510] not the childrenG5043 of 3GodG2316; but the childrenG5043 of the promiseG1860 areG1510 reckonedG3049 as seedG4690. 9For this wordG3056 [isG1510] of promiseG1860, AccordingG2596 to this timeG2540 I will comeG2064, and there shall beG1510 a sonG5207 to SarahG4564. 10And not onlyG3440 [that], but Rebecca having conceived by oneG1520, IsaacG2464 our fatherG3962, 11[the children] indeed being not yetG235 bornG1080, or having done anythingG5100 goodG18 or worthless (that the purposeG4286 of 4GodG2316 accordingG2596 to electionG1589 might abideG3306, not of worksG2041, but of him that callsG2564), 12it was said to her, The greaterG3173 shall serveG1398 the less: 13according as it is writtenG1125, I have lovedG25 JacobG2384, and I have hatedG3404 EsauG2269. 14What shall we sayG3004 thenG3767? [Is there] unrighteousnessG93 with 5GodG2316? Far be the thought. 15For he saysG3004 to MosesG3475, I will shew mercyG1653 to whom I will shew mercyG1653, and I will feel compassionG3627 for whom I will feel compassionG3627. 16So thenG3767 [it is] not of him that willsG2309, nor of him that runsG5143, but of 6GodG2316 that shews mercyG1653. 17For the scriptureG1124 saysG3004 to PharaohG5328, For this very thingG3778 I have raised thee up from amongst [men], that I might thus shew in thee my powerG1411, and so that my nameG3686 should be declared in all the earthG1093. 18So thenG3767, to whom he will he shews mercyG1653, and whom he will he hardensG4645. 19Thou wilt sayG3004 to me thenG3767, WhyG5101 does he yetG2089 find faultG3201? for who resistsG436 his purpose? 20Aye, but thou, O manG444, who art thou that answerest again to 7GodG2316? Shall the thing formed sayG3004 to him that has formed it, WhyG5101 hast thou madeG4160 me thusG3779? 21Or has not the potterG2763 authorityG1849 over the clayG4081, out of the sameG846 lumpG5445 to makeG4160 oneG3739 vesselG4632 to honour, and another to dishonour? 22And if 8GodG2316, minded to shew his wrathG3709 and to makeG1107 his powerG1415 known, endured with muchG4183 long-suffering vesselsG4632 of wrathG3709 fitted for destructionG684; 23and that he might makeG1107 known the richesG4149 of his gloryG1391 upon vesselsG4632 of mercyG1656, which he had before prepared for gloryG1391, 24us, whom he has alsoG2532 calledG2564, not onlyG3440 from amongst [the] JewsG2453, but alsoG2532 from amongst [the] nationsG1484? 25As he saysG3004 alsoG2532 in Hosea, I will callG2564 not-my-people My peopleG2992; and the-not-beloved BelovedG25. 26And it shall beG1510, in the placeG5117 whereG3757 it wasG1510 said to them, Ye [areG1510] not my peopleG2992, there shall they beG1510 calledG2564 SonsG5207 of [the] livingG2198 9GodG2316. 27But Esaias criesG2896 concerningG5228 IsraelG2474, Should the numberG706 of the children of IsraelG2474 beG1510 as the sandG285 of the seaG2281, the remnant shall beG1510 savedG4982: 28for [he] is bringing the matterG3056 to an end, and [cutting [it] short in righteousness; because] a cutting short of the matterG3056 will [the] LordG2962 accomplish upon the earthG1093. 29And according as Esaias said before, Unless [the] LordG2962 of hosts had left us a seedG4690, we had been as SodomG4670, and made like evenG2532 as Gomorrha. 30What thenG3767 shall we sayG3004? That [they of the] nationsG1484, who did not follow after righteousnessG1343, have attained righteousnessG1343, but [the] righteousnessG1343 that is on the principle of faithG4102. 31But IsraelG2474, pursuingG1377 after a lawG3551 of righteousnessG1343, has not attained to [that] lawG3551. 32Wherefore? Because [it was] not on the principle of faithG4102, but as of worksG2041. They have stumbled at the stumblingstone, 33according as it is writtenG1125, BeholdG2400, I placeG5087 in ZionG4622 a stoneG3037 of stumbling and rockG4073 of offence: and he that believesG4100 on him shall not be ashamed.
