Jeremiah 44:15-19
Then all the menH376 who knewH3045 that their wivesH802 burned incenseH6999 to otherH312 1godsH430, and all the womenH802 who stoodH5975 by, a greatH1419 assemblage, even all the peopleH5971 that dweltH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in PathrosH6624, answered JeremiahH3414, sayingH559,
[As for] the wordH1697 that thou hast spokenH1696 unto us in the nameH8034 of Jehovah, we will not hearken unto thee,
but we will certainly do every wordH1697 that is goneH3318 forthH3318 out of our mouthH6310, to burn incenseH6999 to the queenH4446 of the heavensH8064, and to pourH5258 out drink-offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathersH1, our kingsH4428 and our princesH8269, in the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 and in the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389; and we had plenty of breadH3899, and were well, and sawH7200 no evilH7451.
But since we left off burning incenseH6999 to the queenH4446 of the heavensH8064, and pouring out drink-offerings to her, we have wanted everythingH3605, and have been consumed by the swordH2719 and by the famineH7458.
And when we burned incenseH6999 to the queenH4446 of the heavensH8064 and poured out drink-offerings to her, did we makeH6213 for her cakes to portray her, and pourH5258 out drink-offerings to her, without our husbandsH376?
