Luke 10
American Standard Version
1NowG1161 after these thingsG3778 the LordG2962 appointed seventyG1440 othersG2087, and sentG649 them twoG1417 and twoG1417 before his faceG4383 into every cityG4172 and placeG5117, whither he himself was about to comeG2064. 2And he saidG3004 unto them, The harvestG2326 indeedG3303 is plenteous, but the laborers are fewG3641: prayG1189 ye thereforeG3767 the LordG2962 of the harvestG2326, that he sendG1544 forth laborers into his harvestG2326. 3GoG5217 your ways; beholdG2400, I sendG649 you forthG649 as lambs in the midstG3319 of wolvesG3074. 4CarryG941 no purse, no wallet, no shoes; and salute no man on the wayG3598. 5And into whatsoever houseG3614 ye shall enterG1525, firstG4413 sayG3004, PeaceG1515 be to this houseG3614. 6And if a sonG5207 of peaceG1515 beG1510 there, your peaceG1515 shall rest upon him: but if not, it shall turn to you again. 7And in that sameG846 houseG3614 remainG3306, eatingG2068 and drinkingG4095 such things as they give: for the laborer is worthyG514 of his hire. Go not from houseG3614 to houseG3614. 8And into whatsoever cityG4172 ye enterG1525, and they receiveG1209 you, eatG2068 such thingsG3739 as are setG3908 before you: 9and healG2323 the sickG772 that are therein, and sayG3004 unto them, The kingdomG932 of GodG2316 is come nigh unto you. 10But into whatsoever cityG4172 ye shall enterG1525, and they receiveG1209 you not, goG1831 out into the streets thereof and sayG3004, 11EvenG2532 the dustG2868 from your cityG4172, that cleaveth to our feetG4228, we wipe off against you: neverthelessG4133 knowG1097 this, that the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 is come nigh. 12I sayG3004 unto you, It shall beG1510 moreG414 tolerableG414 in that dayG2250 for SodomG4670, than for that cityG4172. 13WoeG3759 unto thee, ChorazinG5523! woeG3759 unto thee, BethsaidaG966! for if the mightyG1411 works had been done in TyreG5184 and SidonG4605, which were done in you, they would have repentedG3340 longG3819 agoG3819, sittingG2521 in sackclothG4526 and ashesG4700. 14But it shall beG1510 moreG414 tolerableG414 for TyreG5184 and SidonG4605 in the judgmentG2920, than for you. 15And thou, CapernaumG2584, shalt thou be exaltedG5312 unto heavenG3772? thou shalt be brought downG2597 unto HadesG86. 16He that heareth you heareth me; and he that rejecteth you rejecteth me; and he that rejecteth me rejecteth him that sentG649 me.
17And the seventyG1440 returnedG5290 with joyG5479, sayingG3004, LordG2962, evenG2532 the demonsG1140 are subjectG5293 unto us in thy nameG3686. 18And he saidG3004 unto them, I beheld SatanG4567 fallenG4098 as lightningG796 from heavenG3772. 19BeholdG2400, I have givenG1325 you authorityG1849 to tread upon serpentsG3789 and scorpionsG4651, and over all the powerG1411 of the enemyG2190: and nothing shall in any wise hurt you. 20NeverthelessG4133 in this rejoiceG5463 not, that the spiritsG4151 are subjectG5293 unto you; but rejoiceG5463 that your namesG3686 are written in heavenG3772.
21In that sameG846 hourG5610 he rejoicedG21 in the HolyG40 SpiritG4151, and saidG3004, I thank thee, O FatherG3962, LordG2962 of heavenG3772 and earthG1093, that thou didst hide these thingsG3778 from the wiseG4680 and understanding, and didst revealG601 them unto babes: yea, FatherG3962; for so it was well-pleasing in thy sight. 22All thingsG3956 have beenG1510 deliveredG3860 unto me of my FatherG3962: and no oneG3762 knoweth who the SonG5207 isG1510, save the FatherG3962; and who the FatherG3962 isG1510, save the SonG5207, and he to whomsoever the SonG5207 willeth to revealG601 him. 23And turningG4762 to the disciplesG3101, he saidG3004 privately, Blessed are the eyesG3788 which seeG991 the thingsG3739 that ye seeG991: 24for I sayG3004 unto you, that manyG4183 prophetsG4396 and kingsG935 desiredG2309 to seeG3708 the thingsG4183 which ye seeG3708, and sawG3708 them not; and to hearG191 the thingsG4183 which ye hearG191, and heardG191 them not.
25And beholdG2400, a certainG5100 lawyerG3544 stoodG450 up and madeG4160 trial of him, sayingG3004, TeacherG1320, what shall I do to inheritG2816 eternalG166 lifeG2222? 26And he saidG3004 unto him, What is writtenG1125 in the lawG3551? howG4459 readest thou? 27And he answeringG611 saidG3004, Thou shalt loveG25 the LordG2962 thy GodG2316 with all thy heartG2588, and with all thy soulG5590, and with all thy strengthG2479, and with all thy mindG1271; and thy neighbor as thyself. 28And he saidG3004 unto him, Thou hast answeredG611 right: this do, and thou shalt liveG2198. 29But he, desiringG2309 to justifyG1344 himself, saidG3004 unto JesusG2424, And who isG1510 my neighbor? 30JesusG2424 made answer and saidG3004, A certainG5100 manG444 was goingG2597 downG2597 from JerusalemG2419 to JerichoG2410; and he fell among robbersG3027, who both stripped him and beat him, and departedG565, leavingG863 him half dead. 31And by chance a certainG5100 priestG2409 was goingG2597 downG2597 that wayG3598: and when he sawG3708 him, he passed by on the other side. 32And in like manner a LeviteG3019 alsoG2532, when he cameG2064 to the placeG5117, and sawG3708 him, passed by on the other side. 33But a certainG5100 SamaritanG4541, as he journeyed, cameG2064 where he was: and when he sawG3708 him, he was moved with compassionG4697, 34and cameG4334 to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring on them oilG1637 and wineG3631; and he set him on his ownG2398 beast, and broughtG71 him to an inn, and took careG1959 of him. 35And on the morrow he took out twoG1417 shillings, and gaveG1325 them to the host, and saidG3004, Take careG1959 of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, I, when I come backG591 again, will repayG591 thee. 36Which of these threeG5140, thinkest thou, proved neighbor unto him that fell among the robbersG3027? 37And he saidG3004, He that showed mercyG1656 on him. And JesusG2424 saidG3004 unto him, GoG4198, and do thou likewiseG3668.
38NowG1161 as they wentG4198 on their way, he enteredG1525 into a certainG5100 villageG2968: and a certainG5100 womanG1135 namedG3686 MarthaG3136 received him into her houseG3614. 39And she had a sisterG79 calledG2564 MaryG3137, who alsoG2532 sat at the Lord’s feetG4228, and heardG191 his wordG3056. 40But MarthaG3136 was cumbered about muchG4183 servingG1247; and she cameG2186 up to him, and saidG3004, LordG2962, dost thou not careG3199 that my sisterG79 did leaveG2641 me to serveG1247 aloneG3441? bid her thereforeG3767 that she helpG4878 me. 41But the LordG2962 answeredG611 and saidG3004 unto her, MarthaG3136, MarthaG3136, thou art anxiousG3309 and troubled about manyG4183 thingsG4183: 42but oneG1520 thingG18 isG1510 needful: for MaryG3137 hath chosen the goodG18 partG3310, which shall not beG1510 takenG851 awayG851 from her.
