John 5:2-16

NowG1161 there isG1510 in JerusalemG2414, at the sheepgate, a poolG2861, which isG1510 called in HebrewG1447, Bethesda, having fiveG4002 porches.

In these lay a multitudeG4128 of sickG770, blindG5185, lameG5560, witheredG3584, [awaiting the moving of the water.

For an angel descended at a certain season in the pool and troubled the water. Whoever therefore first went in after the troubling of the water became well, whatever disease he laboured under.]

But there wasG1510 a certainG5100 manG444 there who had beenG1510 suffering under his infirmityG769 thirtyG5144 and eightG3638 yearsG2094.

JesusG2424 seeingG3708 this [manG3778] lying [there], and knowingG1097 that he was [in that state] now a greatG4183 length of timeG5550, saysG3004 to him, Wouldest thou becomeG1096 well?

The infirm [manG444] answeredG611 him, SirG2962, I have not a manG444, in orderG2443, whenG3752 the waterG5204 has been troubledG5015, to castG906 me into the poolG2861; but while I am comingG2064 another descendsG2597 before me.

JesusG2424 saysG3004 to him, AriseG1453, takeG142 up thy couch and walkG4043.

And immediatelyG2112 the manG444 becameG1096 well, and tookG142 up his couch and walkedG4043: and on that dayG2250 wasG1510 sabbathG4521.

The JewsG2453 thereforeG3767 saidG3004 to the healedG2323 [man], It isG1510 sabbathG4521, it isG1510 not permitted thee to takeG142 up thy couch.

He answeredG611 them, He that madeG4160 me well, he saidG3004 to me, TakeG142 up thy couch and walkG4043.

They askedG2065 him [thereforeG3767], Who isG1510 the manG444 who saidG3004 to thee, TakeG142 up thy couch and walkG4043?

But he that had beenG1510 healedG2390 knew not who it wasG1510, for JesusG2424 had slidden away, there beingG1510 a crowdG3793 in the placeG5117.

After these thingsG3778 JesusG2424 findsG2147 him in the temple, and saidG3004 to him, BeholdG2396, thou art becomeG1096 well: sinG264 no moreG3371, that somethingG5100 worse do not happenG1096 to thee.

The manG444 wentG565 awayG565 and toldG3004 the JewsG2453 that it wasG1510 JesusG2424 who had madeG4160 him well.

And for this the JewsG2453 persecutedG1377 JesusG2424 [and sought to kill him], because he had done these thingsG3778 on sabbathG4521.
