Matthew 21:19-46

19And seeingG3708 a loneG1520 1figG4808 treeG4808 by the roadG3598, He cameG2064 to it and foundG2147 nothingG3762 on it exceptG1508 leavesG5444 aloneG3440; and He saidG3004 to it, “NoG3756 longerG3371 shall there everG1519G165 be any fruitG2590 from you.” And at onceG3916 the figG4808 treeG4808 witheredG3583.

20SeeingG3708 this, the disciplesG3101 wereG2296 amazedG2296 and 2askedG3004, “HowG4459 did the figG4808 treeG4808 witherG3583 all at onceG3916?” 21And JesusG2424 answeredG611 and saidG3004 to them, “TrulyG281 I sayG3004 to you, 3ifG1437 you haveG2192 faithG4102 and do not doubtG1252, you will not onlyG3440 doG4160 whatG3588 was done to the figG4808 treeG4808, but evenG2579 ifG2579 you sayG3004 to thisG3778 mountainG3735, ‘Be takenG142 upG142 and castG906 into the seaG2281,’ it will happenG1096. 22And 4whateverG3745G302 you askG154 in prayerG4335, believingG4100, you will receiveG2983 it allG3956.”

235When He enteredG2064 the templeG2413 area, the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the eldersG4245 of the peopleG2992 cameG4334 to Him 6while He was teachingG1321, and saidG3004, “By whatG4169 authorityG1849 are You doingG4160 theseG3778 thingsG3778, and whoG5101 gaveG1325 You thisG3778 authorityG1849?” 24But JesusG2424 respondedG611 and saidG3004 to them, “I will alsoG2532 askG2065 you oneG1520 7questionG3056, whichG3739, ifG1437 you tellG3004 Me, I will alsoG2532 tellG3004 you by whatG4169 authorityG1849 I doG4160 theseG3778 thingsG3778. 25The baptismG908 of JohnG2491 was from whatG4159 source: from heavenG3772 orG2228 from menG444?” And they began consideringG1260 the implications amongG1722 themselvesG1438, sayingG3004, “IfG1437 we sayG3004, ‘From heavenG3772,’ He will sayG3004 to us, ‘ThenG3767 whyG1223G5101 did you not believeG4100 him?’ 26But ifG1437 we sayG3004, ‘From menG444,’ we fearG5399 the 8peopleG3793; for they allG3956 regardG2192 JohnG2491 as 9a prophetG4396.” 27And answeringG611 JesusG2424, they saidG3004, “We do not knowG3609.” He alsoG2532 saidG5346 to them, “NeitherG3761 am I tellingG3004 you by whatG4169 authorityG1849 I doG4160 theseG3778 thingsG3778.

28“But whatG5101 do you thinkG1380? A manG444 hadG2192 twoG1417 10sonsG5043, and he cameG4334 to the firstG4413 and saidG3004, ‘11SonG5043, goG5217 workG2038 todayG4594 in the 12vineyardG290.’ 29But he repliedG611G3004, ‘I do not wantG2309 to.’ YetG1161 afterwardG5305 he regrettedG3338 it and wentG565. 30And the man cameG4334 to his secondG1208 son and saidG3004 the sameG5615 thingG5615; and he repliedG611G3004, ‘I will, sirG2962’; and yet he did not goG565. 31WhichG5101 of the twoG1417 didG4160 the willG2307 of his fatherG3962?” They saidG3004, “The firstG4413.” JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “TrulyG281 I sayG3004 to you that 13the taxG5057 collectorsG5057 and prostitutesG4204 14will getG4254 into the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 beforeG4254 you. 32For JohnG2491 cameG2064 to you in the wayG3598 of righteousnessG1343 and you did not believeG4100 him; but 15the taxG5057 collectorsG5057 and prostitutesG4204 did believeG4100 him; and you, seeingG3708 this, did not evenG3761 16haveG3338 secondG3338 thoughtsG3338 afterwardG5305 so as to believeG4100 him.

33“ListenG191 to anotherG243 parableG3850. 17There was a 18landownerG3617 whoG3748 19plantedG5452 a 20vineyardG290 and putG4060 a 21fenceG5418 aroundG4060 it, and dugG3736 a wineG3025 pressG3025 in it, and builtG3618 a towerG4444, and he leasedG1554 it to 22vine-growersG1092 and 23wentG589 onG589 aG589 journeyG589. 34And whenG3753 the 24harvestG2590 timeG2540 approachedG1448, he 25sentG649 his slavesG1401 to the vine-growersG1092 to receiveG2983 his fruitG2590. 35And the vine-growersG1092 tookG2983 his slavesG1401 and beatG1194 oneG3739, killedG615 anotherG3739G1161, and stonedG3036 anotherG3739. 36AgainG3825, he 26sentG649 otherG243 slavesG1401, moreG4183 than the firstG4413; and they didG4160 the sameG5615 thingsG5615 to them. 37But afterwardG5305 he sentG649 his sonG5207 to them, sayingG3004, ‘They will respectG1788 my sonG5207.’ 38But when the vine-growersG1092 sawG3708 the sonG5207, they saidG3004 amongG1722 themselvesG1438, ‘ThisG3778 is the heirG2818; comeG1205, let’s killG615 him and takeG2192 possessionG2192 of his inheritanceG2817!’ 39And they tookG2983 him and threwG1544 him outG1544 of the vineyardG290, and killedG615 him. 40ThereforeG3767, whenG3752 the 27ownerG2962 of the vineyardG290 comesG2064, whatG5101 will he doG4160 to thoseG1565 vine-growersG1092?” 41They saidG3004 to Him, “He will bringG622 thoseG846 wretchesG2556 to a wretchedG2560 endG622 and 28leaseG1554 the vineyardG290 to otherG243 vine-growersG1092, whoG3748 will payG591 him the fruitG2590 in the proper seasonsG2540.”

42JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “Did you neverG3763 readG314 in the ScripturesG1124, ‘29A stoneG3037 whichG3739 the buildersG3618 rejectedG593, ThisG3778 has becomeG1096 the 30chiefG2776 cornerstoneG1137; ThisG3778 cameG1096 about from the LordG2962, And it is marvelousG2298 in our eyesG3788’? 43ThereforeG1223G3778 I sayG3004 to you, the kingdomG932 of GodG2316 will be takenG142 awayG142 from you and givenG1325 to a 31peopleG1484 producingG4160 its fruitG2590. 44And 32the one who fallsG4098 on thisG3778 stoneG3037 will be brokenG4917 toG4917 piecesG4917; and on whomeverG3739G302 it fallsG4098, it will crushG3039 him.”

45When the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the PhariseesG5330 heardG191 His parablesG3850, they understoodG1097 that He was speakingG3004 aboutG4012 them. 46And although they soughtG2212 to arrestG2902 Him, they 33fearedG5399 the crowdsG3793, sinceG1893 they consideredG2192 Him to be a 34prophetG4396.
