Mark 6:6-29
6And He wonderedG2296 at their unbeliefG570.
1And He was goingG4013 aroundG4013G2945 the villagesG2968 teachingG1321.
72And 3He summonedG4341 the twelveG1427 and beganG757 to sendG649 them out 4in pairsG1417, and gaveG1325 them authorityG1849 over the uncleanG169 spiritsG4151; 85and He instructedG3853 them that they should takeG142 nothingG3367 for their journeyG3598, exceptG1508 a mereG3441 staffG4464--noG3361 breadG740, noG3361 6bagG4082, noG3361 moneyG5475 in their beltG2223-- 9but 7to wearG5265 sandalsG4547; and He added, “Do not putG1746 on twoG1417 8tunicsG5509.” 10And He saidG3004 to them, “WhereverG3699G1437 you enterG1525 a houseG3614, stayG3306 thereG1563 untilG2193 you 9leaveG1831 townG1564. 11AnyG3739 placeG5117 that does not receiveG1209 you orG3366 listenG191 to you, as you goG1607 out from thereG1564, 10shakeG1621 the dustG5529 11offG1621 the solesG5270 of your feetG4228 for a testimonyG3142 against them.” 1212They wentG1831 out and 13preachedG2784 that men should repentG3340. 13And they were castingG1544 out manyG4183 demonsG1140 and 14were anointingG218 with oilG1637 manyG4183 sickG732 peopleG732 and healingG2323 them.
1415And KingG935 HerodG2264 heardG191 of it, for His nameG3686 had becomeG1096 wellG5318 knownG5318; and people were sayingG3004, “16JohnG2491 the BaptistG907 has risenG1453 from the deadG3498, and that is whyG1223 theseG3588 miraculousG1411 powersG1411 are at workG1754 in Him.” 15But othersG243 were sayingG3004, “He is 17ElijahG2243.” And othersG243 were sayingG3004, “He is 18a prophetG4396, likeG5613 oneG1520 of the prophetsG4396 of old.” 16But when HerodG2264 heardG191 of it, he kept sayingG3004, “JohnG2491, whomG3739 I beheadedG607, has risenG1453!”
17For HerodG2264 himselfG846 had sentG649 and had JohnG2491 arrestedG2902 and boundG1210 in prisonG5438 on accountG1223 of 19HerodiasG2266, the wifeG1135 of his brotherG80 PhilipG5376, becauseG3754 he had marriedG1060 her. 18For JohnG2491 had been sayingG3004 to HerodG2264, “20It is not lawfulG1832 for you to haveG2192 your brother’sG80 wifeG1135.” 1921HerodiasG2266 hadG1758 a grudgeG1758 againstG1758 him and wantedG2309 to putG615 him to deathG615 and couldG1410 not do so; 20for 22HerodG2264 was afraidG5399 of JohnG2491, knowingG3609 that he was a righteousG1342 and holyG40 manG435, and he keptG4933 him safeG4933. And when he heardG191 him, he was veryG4183 perplexedG639; 23but he 24used to enjoyG2234 listeningG191 to him. 21A strategicG2121 dayG2250 cameG1096 whenG3753 HerodG2264 on his birthdayG1077 25gaveG4160 a banquetG1173 for his lordsG3175 and 26militaryG5506 commandersG5506 and the leadingG4413 menG4413 27of GalileeG1056; 22and when the daughterG2364 of 28HerodiasG2266 herselfG846 cameG1525 in and dancedG3738, she pleasedG700 HerodG2264 and 29his dinnerG4873 guestsG4873; and the kingG935 saidG3004 to the girlG2877, “AskG154 me for whateverG3739G1437 you wantG2309 and I will giveG1325 it to you.” 23And he sworeG3660 to her, “WhateverG3739G1437 you askG154 of me, I will giveG1325 it to you; up to 30halfG2255 of my kingdomG932.” 24And she wentG1831 out and saidG3004 to her motherG3384, “WhatG5101 shall I askG154 for?” And she saidG3004, “The headG2776 of JohnG2491 the BaptistG907.” 25ImmediatelyG2117 she cameG1525 in a hurryG4710 to the kingG935 and askedG154, sayingG3004, “I wantG2309 you to giveG1325 me at onceG1824 the headG2776 of JohnG2491 the BaptistG910 on a platterG4094.” 26And although the kingG935 was veryG4036 sorryG4036, yet becauseG1223 of his oathsG3727 and because of 31his dinnerG345 guestsG345, he was unwillingG3756G2309 to refuseG114 her. 27ImmediatelyG2117 the kingG935 sentG649 an executionerG4688 and commandedG2004 him to bringG5342 back his headG2776. And he wentG565 and had him beheadedG607 in the prisonG5438, 28and broughtG5342 his headG2776 on a platterG4094, and gaveG1325 it to the girlG2877; and the girlG2877 gaveG1325 it to her motherG3384. 29When his disciplesG3101 heardG191 about this, they cameG2064 and tookG142 awayG142 his bodyG4430 and laidG5087 it in a tombG3419.
