1And the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me, sayingH559, 2SonH1121 of manH120, cause JerusalemH3389 to knowH3045 her abominationsH8441, 3and sayH559, ThusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah unto JerusalemH3389: Thy birthH4138 and thy nativity is of the landH776 of the CanaaniteH3669: thy fatherH1 was an AmoriteH567, and thy motherH517 a HittiteH2850. 4And as for thy nativity, in the dayH3117 thou wast bornH3205 thy navel was not cutH3772, neither wast thou washedH7364 in waterH4325 for cleansing; thou wast not rubbed with salt at all, nor swaddled at all. 5No eyeH5869 pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassionH2550 upon thee; but thou wast castH7993 out in the open fieldH7704, from abhorrence of thy personH5315, in the dayH3117 that thou wast bornH3205. 6And I passedH5674 by thee, and sawH7200 thee weltering in thy bloodH1818, and I saidH559 unto thee, in thy bloodH1818, LiveH2421! yea, I saidH559 unto thee, in thy bloodH1818, LiveH2421! 7I caused thee to multiplyH7235, as the bud of the fieldH7704; and thou didst increaseH7235 and growH6779 greatH1431, and thou camest to fulness of beauty; [thy] breastsH7699 were fashioned, and thy hairH8181 grewH1431: but thou wast nakedH5903 and bare. 8And I passedH5674 by thee, and lookedH7200 upon thee, and behold, thy timeH6256 wasH1961 the timeH6256 of love; and I spreadH6566 my skirtH3671 over thee, and coveredH3680 thy nakednessH6172; and I sworeH7650 unto thee, and entered into a covenantH1285 with thee, saith the LordH136 Jehovah, and thou becamest mine. 9And I washedH7364 thee with waterH4325, and thoroughly washedH7364 away thy bloodH1818 from thee, and I anointed thee with oilH8081; 10and I clothedH3847 thee with embroideredH7553 work, and shod thee with badgers' skin, and I boundH2280 thee about with byssus, and coveredH3680 thee with silkH4897. 11And I decked thee with ornamentsH5716, and I putH5414 braceletsH6781 upon thy handsH3027, and a chainH7242 on thy neckH1627; 12and I putH5414 a ringH5141 on thy noseH639, and earringsH5141 in thine earsH241, and a beautiful crownH5850 upon thy headH7218. 13Thus wast thou decked with goldH2091 and silverH3701, and thy raiment was byssus, and silkH4897, and embroideredH7553 work. Thou didst eatH398 fineH5560 flourH5560, and honeyH1706, and oilH8081; and thou becamest exceedinglyH3966 beautifulH3302, and thou didst prosperH6743 into a kingdom. 14And thy fame wentH3318 forthH3318 among the nationsH1471 for thy beautyH3308; for it was perfectH3632 through my magnificence, which I had putH7760 upon thee, saith the LordH136 Jehovah. 15But thou didst confide in thy beautyH3308, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy whoredoms on every one that passedH5674 by: his it was. 16And of thy garmentsH899 thou didst takeH3947, and madest for thyself highH1116 placesH1116 decked with divers colours, and didst playH2181 the harlot thereupon: [the like] hath not comeH935 to pass, and shall beH1961 no more. 17And thou didst takeH3947 thy fair jewels of my goldH2091 and of my silverH3701, which I had givenH5414 thee, and madest to thyself imagesH6754 of malesH2145, and didst commit fornication with them. 18And thou tookest thine embroideredH7553 garmentsH899, and coveredst them; and thou didst setH5414 mine oilH8081 and mine incenseH7004 before them. 19And my breadH3899 which I had givenH5414 thee, the fineH5560 flourH5560 and the oilH8081 and the honeyH1706 wherewith I fed thee, thou didst even setH5414 it before them for a sweet savour: thus it wasH1961, saith the LordH136 Jehovah. 20And thou didst takeH3947 thy sonsH1121 and thy daughtersH1323, whom thou hadst borneH3205 unto me, and these didst thou sacrificeH2076 unto them, to be devouredH398. Were thy whoredoms a smallH4592 matter, 21that thou didst slay my children and giveH5414 them up in passingH5674 them over to them? 22And in all thine abominationsH8441 and thy whoredoms thou hast not rememberedH2142 the daysH3117 of thy youthH5271, when thou wast nakedH5903 and bare, when thou wast weltering in thy bloodH1818. 23And it came to pass after all thy wickednessH7451 (woeH188, woeH188 unto thee! saith the LordH136 Jehovah), 24that thou didst also buildH1129 unto thee a placeH7413 of debauchery, and didst makeH6213 thee a highH7413 placeH7413 in every street: 25thou didst buildH1129 thy highH7413 placeH7413 at every headH7218 of the wayH1870, and madest thy beautyH3308 to be abhorredH8581, and thou didst open thy feetH7272 to every one that passedH5674 by, and multiplyH7235 thy whoredom. 26And thou didst commit fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of fleshH1320; and didst multiplyH7235 thy whoredom to provokeH3707 me to angerH3707. 27And behold, I stretchedH5186 out my handH3027 over thee, and diminishedH1639 thine appointed portionH2706; and I gaveH5414 thee over unto the will of them that hateH8130 thee, the daughtersH1323 of the PhilistinesH6430, who were confounded at thy lewd wayH1870. 28And thou didst commit fornication with the Assyrians, because thou wast insatiable; yea, thou didst commit fornication with them, and yet couldest not be satisfiedH7646. 29And thou didst multiplyH7235 thy whoredom with the landH776 of merchants, ChaldeaH3778, and yet thou wast not satisfiedH7646 herewith. 30HowH4100 weak is thy heartH3826, saith the LordH136 Jehovah, seeing thou doest all these [thingsH428], the workH4639 of a whorish womanH802, under no restraint; 31in that thou buildest thy place of debauchery at the headH7218 of every wayH1870, and makest thy highH7413 place in every street! And thou hast not beenH1961 as a harlot, in that thou scornest reward, 32O adulterousH5003 wifeH802, that taketh strangersH2114 instead of her husbandH376. 33They giveH5414 rewards to all harlots; but thou gavest thy rewards to all thy loversH157, and rewardedst them, that they might comeH935 unto thee on every side for thy whoredoms. 34And in thee isH1961 the contrary from [other] womenH802, in thy whoredoms, in that none followeth thee to commit fornication; and whereas thou givest a reward, and no reward isH1961 givenH5414 unto thee, so art thou contrary. 35ThereforeH3651, O harlot, hearH8085 the wordH1697 of Jehovah. 36ThusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: Because thy money hath been pouredH8210 out, and thy nakednessH6172 discovered through thy fornications with thy loversH157, and with all the idolsH1544 of thine abominationsH8441, and because of the bloodH1818 of thy children which thou didst giveH5414 unto them; 37thereforeH3651, behold, I will gatherH6908 all thy loversH157 with whom thou hast takenH1540 pleasure, and all that thou hast lovedH157, with all that thou hast hatedH8130, — I will even gatherH6908 them roundH5439 about against thee, and will discover thy nakednessH6172 unto them, that they may seeH7200 all thy nakednessH6172. 38And I will judgeH8199 thee with the judgmentsH4941 of women that commitH5003 adulteryH5003 and shedH8210 bloodH1818; and I will giveH5414 thee up to the bloodH1818 of fury and jealousyH7068; 39and I will giveH5414 thee into their handH3027, and they shall throw down thy place of debauchery, and shall breakH2040 down thy highH7413 places; and they shall stripH6584 thee of thy garmentsH899, and shall takeH3947 thy fair jewels, and leave thee nakedH5903 and bare. 40And they shall bringH5927 up an assemblage against thee, and they shall stoneH68 thee with stonesH68, and thrust thee through with their swordsH2719. 41And they shall burnH8313 thy housesH1004 with fireH784, and execute judgmentsH8201 upon thee in the sight of manyH7227 womenH802; and I will cause thee to ceaseH7673 from being a harlot, and thou alsoH1571 shalt giveH5414 no more any reward. 42And I will appease my fury against thee, and my jealousyH7068 shall departH5493 from thee; and I will be quietH8252, and will be no moreH4480 angryH3707. 43Because thou hast not rememberedH2142 the daysH3117 of thy youthH5271, but hast raged against me in all these [thingsH428], behold, therefore, I alsoH1571 will recompense thy wayH1870 upon [thy] headH7218, saith the LordH136 Jehovah, and thou shalt not commit this lewdness besides all thine abominationsH8441. 44Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall speak in a proverb against thee, sayingH559, As the motherH517, [so is] her daughterH1323! 45Thou art the daughterH1323 of thy motherH517 that loathed her husbandH376 and her children; and thou art the sisterH269 of thy sistersH269, who loathed their husbandsH376 and their children. Your motherH517 was a HittiteH2850, and your fatherH1 an AmoriteH567. 46And thine elder sisterH269 is SamariaH8111 that dwelleth at thy left handH3225, she and her daughtersH1323; and thy youngerH6996 sisterH269, that dwelleth at thy rightH3225 handH3225, is SodomH5467 and her daughtersH1323. 47And thou hast not walkedH1980 in their waysH1870, nor done according to their abominationsH8441; but as though that were a very littleH4592, thou hast been more corruptH7843 than they in all thy waysH1870. 48[As] I live, saith the LordH136 Jehovah, SodomH5467 thy sisterH269 hath not done, she nor her daughtersH1323, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughtersH1323! 49Behold, this wasH1961 the iniquityH5771 of thy sisterH269 SodomH5467: prideH1347, fulness of breadH3899, and careless easeH7962 wasH1961 in her and in her daughtersH1323, but she did not strengthenH2388 the handH3027 of the poorH6041 and needyH34. 50And they were haughty, and committed abominationH8441 before me, and I took them awayH5493 whenH834 I sawH7200 [it]. 51And SamariaH8111 hath not sinnedH2398 according to the halfH2677 of thy sinsH2398; but thou hast multipliedH7235 thine abominationsH8441 more than they, and hast justifiedH6663 thy sistersH269 by all thine abominationsH8441 which thou hast done. 52Thou alsoH1571, who hast judged thy sistersH269, bearH5375 thine own confusion, because of thy sinsH2403 in which thou hast actedH8581 moreH4480 abominablyH8581 than they: they are moreH4480 righteousH6663 than thou. So be thou ashamedH954 alsoH1571, and bearH5375 thy confusion, in that thou hast justifiedH6663 thy sistersH269. 53And I will bringH7725 again their captivityH7622, the captivityH7622 of SodomH5467 and her daughtersH1323, and the captivityH7622 of SamariaH8111 and her daughtersH1323, and the captivityH7622 of thy captivesH7628 in the midstH8432 of them; 54that thou mayest bearH5375 thy confusion, and mayest be confounded for all that thou hast done, in that thou comfortest them. 55And thy sistersH269, SodomH5467 and her daughtersH1323, shall returnH7725 to their formerH6927 estate, and SamariaH8111 and her daughtersH1323 shall returnH7725 to their formerH6927 estate; thou also and thy daughtersH1323, ye shall returnH7725 to your formerH6927 estate. 56Yea, SodomH5467 thy sisterH269 wasH1961 not mentioned by thy mouthH6310 in the dayH3117 of thy prideH1347, 57before thy wickednessH7451 was discovered, as at the timeH6256 of the reproachH2781 of the daughtersH1323 of Syria, and of all that are roundH5439 about her, the daughtersH1323 of the PhilistinesH6430, who despise thee on every side. 58Thy lewdness and thine abominationsH8441, thou bearest them, saith Jehovah. 59For thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, who hast despisedH959 the oathH423, and brokenH6565 the covenantH1285. 60Nevertheless I will rememberH2142 my covenantH1285 with thee in the daysH3117 of thy youthH5271, and I will establishH6965 unto thee an everlasting covenantH1285. 61And thou shalt rememberH2142 thy waysH1870, and be confounded, when thou shalt receiveH3947 thy sistersH269 who are olderH1419 than thou, together with those who are youngerH6996 than thou; for I will giveH5414 them unto thee for daughtersH1323, but not by virtue of thy covenantH1285. 62And I will establishH6965 my covenantH1285 with thee, and thou shalt knowH3045 that I [am] Jehovah; 63that thou mayest rememberH2142, and beH1961 ashamedH954, and no more open thy mouthH6310 because of thy confusion, when I forgive thee all that thou hast done, saith the LordH136 Jehovah.
