Ezekiel 31
Darby Bible
1And it came to pass in the eleventh yearH8141, in the thirdH7992 [monthH2320], on the first of the monthH2320, [that] the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me, sayingH559, 2SonH1121 of manH120, sayH559 unto PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, and to his multitudeH1995: Whom art thou like in thy greatnessH1433? 3Behold, AssyriaH804 wasH1961 a cedarH730 in LebanonH3844, with fair branchesH6057 and a shadowing shroud, and of a high statureH6967: and his top wasH1961 amidst the thick boughs. 4The watersH4325 made him greatH1431, the deepH8415 set him up on highH7311; its streams ran roundH5439 about his plantation, and it sentH7971 out its rivulets unto all the treesH6086 of the fieldH7704. 5ThereforeH3651 his heightH6967 was exaltedH1361 above all the treesH6086 of the fieldH7704, and his boughs were multipliedH7235, and his branchesH6288 became longH748, because of greatH7227 watersH4325, when he shot forthH7971. 6All the fowl of the heavensH8064 made their nestsH7077 in his boughs, and under his branchesH6288 did all the beasts of the fieldH7704 bringH3205 forthH3205 their young, and under his shadowH6738 dweltH3427 all the greatH7227 nationsH1471. 7Thus wasH1961 he fair in his greatnessH1433, in the lengthH753 of his branchesH1808: because his rootH8328 wasH1961 by greatH7227 watersH4325. 8The cedarsH730 in the gardenH1588 of 1GodH430 could not hide him; the cypressesH1265 wereH1961 not like his boughs, and the plane-trees wereH1961 not as his branchesH6288: no treeH6086 in the gardenH1588 of 2GodH430 wasH1961 like unto him in his beautyH3308. 9I had madeH6213 him fair by the multitudeH7230 of his branchesH1808; and all the treesH6086 of EdenH5731, that were in the gardenH1588 of 3GodH430, envied him. 10ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: Because thou hast liftedH7311 up thyself in statureH6967, ...and he hath setH5414 his top amidst the thick boughs, and his heartH3824 is liftedH7311 up in his heightH6967, 11I have givenH5414 him into the handH3027 of the mighty one of the nationsH1471; he shall surely deal with him: I have drivenH1644 him out for his wickednessH7562. 12And strangersH2114, the terrible of the nationsH1471, have cutH3772 him off and have leftH5203 him; upon the mountainsH2022 and in all the valleysH1516 his branchesH1808 are fallenH5307, and his boughs are brokenH7665 in all the watercourses of the landH776; and all the peoplesH5971 of the earthH776 are goneH3381 downH3381 from his shadowH6738, and have leftH5203 him. 13Upon his fallen [trunk] do all the fowl of the heavensH8064 dwellH7931, and all the beasts of the fieldH7704 are upon his branchesH6288: 14to the end that none of all the treesH6086 by the watersH4325 exalt themselves in their statureH6967, nor setH5414 their top amidst the thick boughs, and that none of them that drinkH8354 waterH4325 standH5975 up in his heightH6967 by himself; for they are all givenH5414 over unto deathH4194 in the lower partsH8482 of the earthH776, in the midstH8432 of the children of menH120, with them that goH3381 down to the pitH953. 15ThusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: In the dayH3117 when he wentH3381 downH3381 to SheolH7585, I caused a mourningH6937: I coveredH3680 the deepH8415 for him, and I restrainedH3607 the floods thereof, and the greatH7227 watersH4325 were stayed; and I made LebanonH3844 black for him, and all the treesH6086 of the fieldH7704 fainted for him. 16I made the nationsH1471 to shakeH7493 at the soundH6963 of his fall, when I cast him downH3381 to SheolH7585, with them that goH3381 down into the pitH953; and all the treesH6086 of EdenH5731, the choice and bestH2896 of LebanonH3844, all that drinkH8354 waterH4325, were comfortedH5162 in the lower partsH8482 of the earthH776. 17They alsoH1571 wentH3381 downH3381 into SheolH7585 with him unto them that were slainH2491 with the swordH2719, and [that were] his armH2220, that dweltH3427 under his shadowH6738 in the midstH8432 of the nationsH1471. 18To whom art thou thusH3602 like in gloryH3519 and in greatnessH1433 among the treesH6086 of EdenH5731? Yet shalt thou be broughtH3381 downH3381 with the treesH6086 of EdenH5731, unto the lower partsH8482 of the earthH776; thou shalt lieH7901 in the midstH8432 of the uncircumcisedH6189, with them that are slainH2491 by the swordH2719. This is PharaohH6547 and all his multitudeH1995, saith the LordH136 Jehovah.
