Matthew 16:1-9 1 And the Pharisees Φαρισαῖοι Pharisaioi G5330 and Sadducees Σαδδουκαῖοι, Saddoukaioi G4523 , coming G4334 to [ him ], asked ἐπηρώτησαν epērōtēsan G1905 him , tempting [ him ], to shew them a sign σημεῖον sēmeion G4592 out of heaven οὐρανοῦ ouranou G3772 . 2 But he answering ἀποκριθεὶς apokritheis G611 said λέγετε· legete G3004 to them , When evening ὀψίας opsias G3798 is come γενομένης genomenēs G1096 , ye say G3004 , Fine weather , for the sky οὐρανός. ouranos G3772 is red πυρράζει purrazei G4449 ; 3 and in the morning πρωΐ· prōi G4404 , A storm to-day, for the sky οὐρανός. ouranos G3772 is red πυρράζει purrazei G4449 [ and ] lowering; ye know γινώσκετε ginōskete G1097 [ how ] to discern διακρίνειν, diakrinein G1252 the face G4383 of the sky οὐρανοῦ ouranou G3772 , but ye cannot the signs σημεῖα sēmeia G4592 of the times G2540 . 4 A wicked G4190 and adulterous μοιχαλὶς moichalis G3428 generation γενεὰ genea G1074 seeks ἐπιζητεῖ· epizētei G1934 after a sign σημεῖον sēmeion G4592 , and a sign σημεῖον sēmeion G4592 shall not be given G1325 to it save the sign σημεῖον sēmeion G4592 of Jonas. And he left G2641 them and went G565 away ἀπῆλθεν.¶ apēlthen G565 . 6 And Jesus Ἰησοῦς Iēsous G2424 said G3004 to them , See G3708 and beware προσέχετε prosechete G4337 of the leaven ζύμης zumēs G2219 of the Pharisees Φαρισαίων Pharisaiōn G5330 and Sadducees Σαδδουκαίων. Saddoukaiōn G4523 . 7 And they reasoned διελογίζοντο dielogizonto G1260 among themselves , saying λέγοντες legontes G3004 , Because we have taken G2983 no bread ἄρτους artous G740 . 8 And Jesus Ἰησοῦς Iēsous G2424 knowing G1097 [ it ], said G3004 , Why τί ti G5101 reason διαλογίζεσθε dialogizesthe G1260 ye among yourselves , O ye of little faith, because ye have taken G2983 no bread ἄρτους artous G740 ? 9 Do ye not yet understand νοεῖτε noeite G3539 nor remember μνημονεύετε mnēmoneuete G3421 the five πέντε pente G4002 loaves G740 of the five G4002 thousand πεντακισχιλίων pentakischiliōn G4000 , and how πόσους posous G4214 many G4214 hand-baskets ye took G2983 [up]?
