14But when it was nowἬδηĒdēG2235the midstμεσούσηςmesousēsG3322of the feastἑορτῆςhe'ortēsG1859JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424wentἀνέβηanebēG305up into the templeG2413, and began toteachἐδίδασκεν.edidaskenG1321.

15The JewsἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiG2453thenοὖνounG3767were astonishedἐθαύμαζονethaumazonG2296,sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “HowπῶςpōsG4459has thisG3778manG3778becomeG3609learnedG3609,having neverμὴmēG3361been educatedμεμαθηκώς;¶memathēkōsG3129?”

16SoοὖνounG3767JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424answeredἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611them and saidG3004, “My teachingδιδαχὴdidachēG1322is not MineG1699,but His who sentπέμψαντόςpempsantosG3992Me.

17IfἐάνeanG1437anyoneτιςtisG5100is willingθέλῃthelēG2309to doποιεῖν,poieinG4160His willθέλημαthelēmaG2307,he will knowγνώσεταιgnōsetaiG1097of the teachingδιδαχῆςdidachēsG1322,whetherπότερονpoteronG4220it is of GodθεοῦtheouG2316orἢēG2228whetherI speakλαλῶ.lalōG2980from MyselfG1683.

18He who speaksλαλῶνlalōnG2980from himselfἑαυτοῦhe'autouG1438seeksζητεῖ·zēteiG2212his ownἰδίανidianG2398gloryδόξανdoxanG1391;but He who is seekingζητῶνzētōnG2212the gloryδόξανdoxanG1391of the One who sentπέμψαντοςpempsantosG3992Him, He is trueἀληθήςalēthēsG227,and there is noοὐκoukG3756unrighteousnessἀδικίαadikiaG93in Him.

19“Did not MosesΜωϋσῆςMōusēsG3475giveδέδωκενdedōkenG1325you the Lawνόμον;nomonG3551, and yetnoneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762of you carriesποιεῖpoieiG4160out the Lawνόμον·nomonG3551?WhyτίtiG5101do youseekζητεῖτεzēteiteG2212to killἀποκτεῖναι;apokteinaiG615Me?”

20The crowdὄχλοςochlosG3793answeredἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611, “You haveἔχεις·echeisG2192a demonδαιμόνιονdaimonionG1140!WhoτίςtisG5101seeksζητεῖzēteiG2212to killἀποκτεῖναι;¶apokteinaiG615You?”

21JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424answeredἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611them,“I didἐποίησα,epoiēsaG4160oneἓνhenG1520deedἔργονergonG2041,and you allπάντεςpantesG3956marvelθαυμάζετε.thaumazeteG2296.

22For thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778reasonδιὰdiaG1223MosesΜωϋσῆςMōusēsG3475has givenδέδωκενdedōkenG1325you circumcisionπεριτομήν,peritomēnG4061(not becauseὅτιhotiG3754it is from MosesΜωϋσέωςMōuseōsG3475, but fromthe fathersπατέρων,paterōnG3962), and on theSabbathσαββάτῳsabbatōG4521you circumciseπεριτέμνετεperitemneteG4059a manἄνθρωπον.anthrōponG444.

23IfεἰeiG1487a manἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444receivesλαμβάνειlambaneiG2983circumcisionπεριτομὴνperitomēnG4061on theSabbathσαββάτῳsabbatōG4521soἵναinaG2443that the LawνόμοςnomosG3551of MosesΜωϋσέως,MōuseōsG3475will not be brokenλυθῇluthēaG3089,are you angryχολᾶτεcholateG5520with Me becauseὅτιhotiG3754I madeἐποίησαepoiēsaG4160an entireὅλονholonG3650manἄνθρωπονanthrōponG444wellὑγιῆhugiēG5199on theSabbathσαββάτῳ;sabbatōG4521?

24Do notjudgeκρίνετεkrineteG2919accordingκατ᾽kat᾽G2596to appearanceὄψιν,opsinG3799, butjudgeκρίνετε.krineteG2919with righteousδικαίανdikaianG1342judgmentκρίσινkrisinG2920.”

25SoοὖνounG3767someτινεςtinesG5100of the peopleG2415of JerusalemἹεροσολυμιτῶν·Hi'erosolumitōnG2415were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004, “Is thisοὗτόςhoutosG3778not the man whomὃνhonG3739they are seekingζητοῦσινzētousinG2212to killἀποκτεῖναι;apokteinaiG615?

26LookἴδεideG2396,He is speakingλαλεῖ,laleiG2980publiclyπαρρησίᾳparrēsiaG3954,and they are sayingλέγουσιν.legousinG3004nothingοὐδὲνoudenG3762to Him.The rulersἄρχοντεςarchontesG758do not reallyἀληθῶςalēthōsG230knowἔγνωσανegnōsanG1097that thisοὗτόςhoutosG3778isthe Christχριστός;christosG5547, do they?

27HoweverἀλλὰallaG235,we knowG3609whereπόθενpothenG4159thisG3778manτοῦτονtoutonG3778is from; but wheneverὅτανhotanG3752the ChristχριστὸςchristosG5547may comeἔρχηται,erchētaiG2064,noG3762oneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762knowsγινώσκειginōskeiG1097whereπόθενpothenG4159He is from.”

28ThenοὖνounG3767JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424criedἜκραξενEkraxenG2896out in the templeG2413,teachingδιδάσκωνdidaskōnG1321and sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “You bothG2532knowG3609Me and knowG3609whereπόθενpothenG4159I amG1510from; andI have not comeἐλήλυθα,elēluthaG2064of MyselfG1683,but He who sentπέμψαςpempsasG3992Me is trueἀληθινὸςalēthinosG228,whomὃνhonG3739you do not knowG3609.

29I knowG3609Him, becauseὅτιhotiG3754I amεἰμι,eimiG1510from Him, andHe sentἀπέστειλεν.apesteilenG649Me.”

30SoοὖνounG3767theywere seekingἐζήτουνezētounG2212to seizeπιάσαι,piasaiG4084Him; and noG3762manG3762laidἐπέβαλενepebalenG1911his handχεῖρα,cheiraG5495on Him, becauseὅτιhotiG3754HishourὥραhōraG5610had not yetοὔπωoupōG3768comeἐληλύθειelēlutheiG2064.

31ButmanyπολλοὶpolloiG4183of the crowdὄχλουochlouG3793believedἐπίστευσανepisteusanG4100in Him; and they were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004, “WhenὅτανhotanG3752the ChristχριστὸςchristosG5547comesἔλθῃ,elthēG2064,He will not performG2038moreG4183signsσημεῖαsēmeiaG4592than those whichὧνhōnG3739thisG3778manοὗτοςhoutosG3778has, will He?”

32The PhariseesΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiG5330heardἤκουσανēkousanG191the crowdὄχλουochlouG3793mutteringγογγύζοντοςgonguzontosG1111theseG3778thingsταῦτα,tautaG3778aboutπερὶperiG4012Him, and the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749and the PhariseesΦαρισαῖοιPharisaioiG5330sentἀπέστειλανapesteilanG649officersὑπηρέταςhupēretasG5257toseizeπιάσωσινpiasōsinG4084Him.

33ThereforeοὖνounG3767JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidG3004, “For a littleμικρὸνmikronG3398whileχρόνονchrononG5550longerἔτιetiG2089I amεἰμιeimiG1510with you, thenκαὶkaiG2532I goὑπάγωhupagōG5217to Him who sentπέμψαντάpempsantaG3992Me.

34You will seekζητήσετέzētēseteG2212Me, and will not findεὑρήσετέheurēseteG2147Me; and whereὅπουhopouG3699I amεἰμὶeimiG1510,you cannotδύνασθεdunastheG1410 G3756comeἐλθεῖν.¶eltheinG2064.”

35The JewsἸουδαῖοιIoudaioiG2453thenοὖνounG3767saidG3004to oneG1438anotherG1438, “WhereποῦpouG4226does thisG3778manG3778intendμέλλειmelleiG3195to goπορεύεσθαιporeuesthaiG4198that we will not findεὑρήσομενheurēsomenG2147Him? 38He who believesπιστεύωνpisteuōnG4100in Me,as the Scriptureγραφή,graphēG1124saidG3004, ‘Fromhis innermostG2836beingG2836will flowῥεύσουσινrheusousinG4482riversποταμοὶpotamoiG4215oflivingζῶντος.zōntosG2198waterὕδατοςhudatosG5204.’”

39But thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778He spokeG3004of the SpiritπνεύματοςpneumatosG4151,whomὃhoG3739thoseG3588who believedπιστεύσαντεςpisteusantesG4100in Him were to receiveλαμβάνεινlambaneinG2983; forthe SpiritπνεῦμαpneumaG4151was not yetοὔπωoupōG3768given,becauseὅτιhotiG3754JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424was not yetοὐδέπωoudepōG3764glorifiedἐδοξάσθη.¶edoxasthēG1392.

40Someof the peopleὄχλουochlouG3793thereforeοὖνounG3767,when they heardἀκούσαντεςakousantesG191theseτούτωνtoutōnG3778wordsλόγωνlogōnG3056,were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004, “ThisοὗτόςhoutosG3778certainlyἀληθῶςalēthōsG230isthe Prophetπροφήτης.prophētēsG4396.”

41OthersἄλλοιalloiG243were sayingἔλεγον·elegonG3004, “ThisοὗτόςhoutosG3778isthe Christχριστός·christosG5547.”Still othersG3588were sayingἔλεγον·elegonG3004, “SurelyμὴmēG3361the ChristχριστὸςchristosG5547is not going to comeἔρχεται;erchetaiG2064from GalileeΓαλιλαίαςGalilaiasG1056, is He?

42Has not the ScriptureγραφὴgraphēG1124saidG3004that the Christχριστός;¶christosG5547comesἔρχεταιerchetaiG2064fromthe descendantsσπέρματοςspermatosG4690of DavidG1160,and from BethlehemΒηθλέεμBēthleemG965,the villageκώμηςkōmēsG2968whereὅπουhopouG3699DavidG1160was?”
