Ephesians 5
1Be ye thereforeG3767 imitatorsG3402 of 1GodG2316, as belovedG27 childrenG5043, 2and walkG4043 in loveG26, evenG2532 as the ChristG5547 lovedG25 us, and deliveredG3860 himself up for us, an offeringG4376 and sacrificeG2378 to 2GodG2316 for a sweet-smelling savour. 3But fornication and all uncleanness or unbridled lust, let it not be evenG2532 named among you, as it becomes saintsG40; 4and filthiness and foolish talking, or jesting, which are not convenient; but ratherG3123 thanksgivingG2169. 5For this ye areG1510 [well] informed of, knowing that no fornicator, or uncleanG169 person, or person of unbridled lust, who isG1510 an idolaterG1496, has inheritanceG2817 in the kingdomG932 of the ChristG5547 and 3GodG2316. 6Let no oneG3367 deceive you with vainG2756 wordsG3056, for on accountG3056 of these thingsG3778 the wrathG3709 of 4GodG2316 comesG2064 upon the sonsG5207 of disobedienceG543. 7Be not ye thereforeG3767 fellow-partakers with them; 8for ye wereG1510 onceG4218 darknessG4655, but nowG1161 lightG5457 in [the] LordG2962; walkG4043 as childrenG5043 of lightG5457, 9(for the fruitG2590 of the lightG5457 [is] in all goodnessG19 and righteousnessG1343 and truthG225,) 10proving what isG1510 agreeable to the LordG2962; 11and do not have fellowship with the unfruitfulG175 worksG2041 of darknessG4655, but ratherG3123 alsoG2532 reprove [them], 12for the things that areG1510 done by them in secret it isG1510 shamefulG150 evenG2532 to sayG3004. 13But all thingsG3956 having their true character exposed by the lightG5457 areG1510 madeG5319 manifestG5319; for that which makes everythingG3956 manifestG5319 isG1510 lightG5457. 14Wherefore he saysG3004, Wake up, [thou] that sleepest, and ariseG1453 up from among the deadG3498, and the ChristG5547 shall shine upon thee. 15SeeG991 thereforeG3767 howG4459 ye walkG4043 carefullyG199, not as unwise but as wiseG4680, 16redeeming the timeG2540, because the daysG2250 areG1510 evilG4190. 17For this reason be not foolishG878, but understandingG4920 what [is] the will of the LordG2962. 18And beG1510 not drunkG3182 with wineG3631, in which isG1510 debaucheryG810; but beG1510 filledG4137 with the SpiritG4151, 19speakingG2980 to yourselves in psalmsG5568 and hymnsG5215 and spiritualG4152 songsG5603, singingG103 and chanting with your heartG2588 to the LordG2962; 20givingG2168 thanksG2168 at all times for all thingsG3956 to him [who is] 5GodG2316 and [the] FatherG3962 in the nameG3686 of our LordG2962 JesusG2424 ChristG5547, 21submitting yourselves to oneG240 another in [the] fearG5401 of ChristG5547. 22WivesG1135, [submit yourselves] to your ownG2398 husbandsG435, as to the LordG2962, 23for a husbandG435 isG1510 headG2776 of the wifeG1135, as alsoG2532 the ChristG5547 [isG1510] headG2776 of the assemblyG1577. He [isG1510] Saviour of the bodyG4983. 24But evenG2532 as the assemblyG1577 is subjectedG5293 to the ChristG5547, so alsoG2532 wivesG1135 to their own husbandsG435 in everythingG3956. 25HusbandsG435, loveG25 your ownG1438 wivesG1135, evenG2532 as the ChristG5547 alsoG2532 lovedG25 the assemblyG1577, and has deliveredG3860 himself up for it, 26in orderG2443 that he might sanctifyG37 it, purifying [it] by the washingG3067 of waterG5204 by [the] word, 27that he might presentG3936 the assemblyG1577 to himself glorious, having no spot, or wrinkle, or any of suchG5108 thingsG5108; but that it might beG1510 holyG40 and blamelessG299. 28So oughtG3784 menG435 alsoG2532 to loveG25 their ownG1438 wivesG1135 as their ownG1438 bodiesG4983: he that lovesG25 his ownG1438 wifeG1135 lovesG25 himself. 29For no oneG3762 has everG4218 hatedG3404 his ownG1438 fleshG4561, but nourishes and cherishes it, evenG2532 as alsoG2532 the ChristG5547 the assemblyG1577: 30for we areG1510 membersG3196 of his bodyG4983; [we areG1510 of his flesh, and of his bones.] 31Because of this a manG444 shall leaveG2641 his fatherG3962 and motherG3384, and shall beG1510 united to his wifeG1135, and the twoG1417 shall beG1510 oneG1520 fleshG4561. 32This mysteryG3466 isG1510 greatG3173, but I speakG3004 as to ChristG5547, and as to the assemblyG1577. 33But ye alsoG2532, every oneG1520 of you, let each soG2443 loveG25 his ownG1438 wifeG1135 as himself; but as to the wifeG1135 [I speak] that she may fearG5399 the husbandG435.
