2 Peter 3
Darby Bible
1This, a secondG1208 letterG1992, belovedG27, I alreadyG2235 writeG1125 to you, in [both] which I stir up, in the way of putting you in remembrance, your pureG1506 mindG1271, 2to be mindful of the words spoken before by the holyG40 prophetsG4396, and of the commandmentG1785 of the LordG2962 and Saviour by your apostlesG652; 3knowingG1097 this firstG4413, that there shall comeG2064 at [the] close of the daysG2250 mockers with mocking, walkingG4198 accordingG2596 to their ownG2398 lustsG1939, 4and sayingG3004, WhereG4226 isG1510 the promiseG1860 of his coming? for from the time the fathersG3962 fell asleepG2837 all thingsG3956 remain thusG3779 from [the] beginning of [the] creationG2937. 5For this isG1510 hidden from them through their ownG1438 wilfulness, that heavensG3772 wereG1510 of old, and an earthG1093, having its subsistence out of waterG5204 and in waterG5204, by the wordG3056 of 1GodG2316, 6through which [watersG5204] the thenG5119 worldG2889, deluged with waterG5204, perishedG622. 7But the presentG3568 heavensG3772 and the earthG1093 by his wordG3056 areG1510 laid up in storeG2343, keptG5083 for fireG4442 unto a dayG2250 of judgmentG2920 and destructionG684 of ungodlyG765 menG444. 8But let not this oneG1520 thingG3778 be hidden from you, belovedG27, that oneG1520 dayG2250 with [the] LordG2962 [is] as a thousandG5507 yearsG2094, and a thousandG5507 yearsG2094 as oneG1520 dayG2250. 9[The] LordG2962 does not delay his promiseG1860, as some accountG1223 of delay, but is longsuffering towards you, not willingG1014 that any should perishG622, but that all should come to repentanceG3341. 10But the dayG2250 of [the] LordG2962 will comeG2240 as a thiefG2812, in which the heavensG3772 will passG3928 awayG3928 with a rushing noise, and [the] elementsG4747, burningG2618 with heat, shall be dissolved, and [the] earthG1093 and the worksG2041 in it shall be burnt up. 11All these thingsG3778 then being to be dissolved, what oughtG1163 ye to be in holyG40 conversation and 2godlinessG2150, 12waiting for and hastening the coming of the dayG2250 of 3GodG2316, by reason of which [the] heavensG3772, being on fire, shall be dissolved, and [the] elementsG4747, burningG4448 with heat, shall melt? 13But, accordingG2596 to his promise, we wait for newG2537 heavensG3772 and a newG2537 earthG1093, wherein dwellsG2730 righteousnessG1343. 14Wherefore, belovedG27, as ye wait for these thingsG3778, be diligentG4704 to be foundG2147 of him in peaceG1515, without spot and blameless; 15and account the longsuffering of our LordG2962 [to be] salvationG4991; accordingG2596 as our belovedG27 brotherG80 PaulG3972 alsoG2532 has writtenG1125 to you accordingG2596 to the wisdomG4678 givenG1325 to him, 16as alsoG2532 in all [his] epistles, speakingG2980 in them of these thingsG3778; among which some thingsG3778 areG1510 hard to beG1510 understood, which the untaught and ill-established wrest, as alsoG2532 the otherG3062 scripturesG1124, to their ownG2398 destructionG684. 17Ye thereforeG3767, belovedG27, knowingG4267 [these] things before, take care lestG3361, being led awayG4879 along with the errorG4106 of the wicked, ye should fall from your ownG2398 stedfastness: 18but growG837 in graceG5485, and in [the] knowledgeG1108 of our LordG2962 and Saviour JesusG2424 ChristG5547. To him [be] gloryG1391 both nowG1161 and to [the] dayG2250 of eternityG165. AmenG281.
