Acts 10:1-30
1NowG1161there wasa certainG5100 manG435 in Cæsarea, CorneliusG2883 by nameG3686, a centurionG1543 of the band calledG2564 the Italian band, 2a devoutG2152 man, and oneG3588 that fearedG5399 GodG2316 with all his houseG3624, who gave muchG4183 almsG1654 to the peopleG2992, and prayedG1189 to GodG2316 always. 3He sawG3708 in a visionG3705 openlyG5320, as it were about the ninth hourG5610 of the dayG2250, an angelG32 of GodG2316 comingG1525 in unto him, and sayingG3004 to him, CorneliusG2883. 4And he, fastening his eyes upon him, and beingG1510 affrighted, saidG3004, What isG1510 it, LordG2962? And he saidG3004 unto him, Thy prayersG4335 and thine almsG1654 areG1510 goneG305 up for a memorialG3422 before GodG2316. 5And nowG3568 sendG3992 menG435 to JoppaG2445, and fetch oneG5100 SimonG4613, who is surnamed PeterG4074: 6he lodgeth with oneG5100 SimonG4613 a tannerG1038, whose houseG3614 isG1510 by the seaG2281 side. 7And whenG5613 the angelG32 that spake unto him was departedG565, he calledG5455 twoG1417 of his household-servants, and a devoutG2152 soldierG4757 of them that waited on him continually; 8and having rehearsed all things unto them, he sentG649 them to JoppaG2445.
9NowG1161 on the morrow, as they were on their journey, and drew nigh unto the cityG4172, PeterG4074 wentG305 up upon the housetopG1430 to prayG4336, about the sixthG1623 hourG5610: 10and he becameG1096 hungry, and desiredG2309 to eatG1089: but while they made ready, he fell into a tranceG1611; 11and he beholdeth the heavenG3772 openedG455, and a certainG5100 vesselG4632 descendingG2597, as it were a greatG3173 sheetG3607, let downG2597 by fourG5064 cornersG746 upon the earthG1093: 12wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts and creeping thingsG3956 of the earthG1093 and birdsG4071 of the heavenG3772. 13And there cameG1096 a voiceG5456 to him, RiseG450, PeterG4074; killG2380 and eatG2068. 14But PeterG4074 saidG3004, Not so, LordG2962; for I have neverG3763 eatenG2068 anything that is commonG2839 and uncleanG169. 15And a voiceG5456 came unto him againG3825 the secondG1208 timeG1208, What GodG2316 hath cleansedG2511, make not thou common. 16And this was done thrice: and straightway the vesselG4632 was received up into heavenG3772.
17NowG1161 while PeterG4074 wasG1510 much perplexedG1280 in himself what the visionG3705 which he had seenG3708 might mean, beholdG2400, the menG435 that wereG1510 sentG649 by CorneliusG2883, having made inquiry for Simon’s houseG3614, stood before the gateG4440, 18and calledG5455 and askedG4441 whether SimonG4613, who was surnamed PeterG4074, were lodging there. 19And while PeterG4074 thought on the visionG3705, the SpiritG4151 saidG3004 unto him, BeholdG2400, three menG435 seekG2212 thee. 20But ariseG450, and get thee downG2597, and goG4198 with them, nothingG3367 doubtingG1252: for I have sentG649 them. 21And PeterG4074 wentG2597 downG2597 to the menG435, and saidG3004, BeholdG2400, I amG1510 he whom ye seekG2212: what isG1510 the causeG156 wherefore ye areG1510 comeG2597? 22And they saidG3004, CorneliusG2883 a centurionG1543, a righteousG1342 manG435 and oneG3588 that feareth GodG2316, and well reported of by all the nationG1484 of the JewsG2453, was warnedG5537 of GodG2316 by a holyG40 angelG32 to sendG3343 for thee into his houseG3624, and to hearG191 words from thee. 23So he called them in and lodged them.
And on the morrow he aroseG450 and wentG1831 forthG1831 with them, and certainG5100 of the brethren from JoppaG2445 accompanied him. 24And on the morrow they enteredG1525 into Cæsarea. And CorneliusG2883 wasG1510 waiting for them, having calledG4779 togetherG4779 his kinsmen and his near friendsG5384. 25And whenG5613 it cameG1096 to passG1096 that PeterG4074 enteredG1525, CorneliusG2883 met him, and fellG4098 downG4098 at his feetG4228, and worshipped him. 26But PeterG4074 raisedG1453 him up, sayingG3004, StandG450 up; I myself alsoG2532 amG1510 a manG444. 27And as he talked with him, he wentG1525 in, and findeth manyG4183 comeG1525 togetherG4905: 28and he saidG3004 unto them, Ye yourselves knowG1987 howG5613 it isG1510 an unlawful thing for a manG444 that isG1510 a JewG2453 to joinG2853 himself or come unto oneG3367 of another nation; and yet unto me hath GodG2316 showedG1166 that I should not call any manG444 commonG2839 or uncleanG169: 29wherefore alsoG2532 I cameG2064 without gainsaying, when I was sentG3343 for. I askG4441 thereforeG3767 with what intent ye sentG3343 for me. 30And CorneliusG2883 saidG5346, Four daysG2250 ago, until this hourG5610, I wasG1510 keeping the ninth hourG5610 of prayer in my houseG3624; and beholdG2400, a manG435 stoodG2476 before me in brightG2986 apparelG2066,
