2And sixἓξhexG1803daysἡμέραςhēmerasG2250laterμετὰmetaG3326JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424tookπαραλαμβάνειparalambaneiG3880with HimPeterΠέτρονPetronG4074,JamesἸάκωβονIakōbonG2385,and JohnἸωάννηνIōannēnG2491,and broughtἀναφέρειanaphereiG399them upG399on a highὑψηλὸνhupsēlonG5308mountainὄροςorosG3735by themselvesἰδίαν μόνους.idian monousG2398 G3441. And He wastransfiguredμετεμορφώθηmetemorphōthēG3339beforeἔμπροσθενemprosthenG1715them;

3andHis garmentsἱμάτιαhimatiaG2440becameἐγένετοegenetoG1096radiantστίλβοντα,stilbontaG4744and exceedinglyλίανlianG3029whiteλευκὰleukaG3022,as noοὐouG3756laundererγναφεὺςgnapheusG1102on earthγῆςgēsG1093canδύναταιdunataiG1410whitenλευκᾶναι.leukanaiG3021them.

4And ElijahἨλίαςĒliasG2243appearedG3708to them alongσὺνsunG4862with MosesΜωϋσεῖ,MōuseiG3475;and they were talkingσυλλαλοῦντεςsullalountesG4814with JesusἸησοῦ.IēsouG2424.

5PeterΠέτροςPetrosG4074respondedἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611and saidλέγειlegeiG3004to JesusἸησοῦ·IēsouG2424, “Rabbiῥαββί,rhabbiG4461,it is goodκαλόνkalonG2570that we are hereὧδεhōdeG5602;let’s makeποιήσωμενpoiēsōmenG4160threeτρεῖςtreisG5140tabernaclesσκηνάς,skēnasG4633,oneμίανmianG1520for You, oneμίανmianG1520for MosesΜωϋσεῖMōuseiG3475,and oneμίαν·mianG1520for ElijahἨλίᾳĒliaG2243.”

6For he did not knowG3609howτίtiG5101to replyἀποκριθῇ,apokrithēaG611;for they becameἐγένοντο.¶egenontoG1096terrifiedἔκφοβοιekphoboiG1630.

7ThenG2532a cloudνεφέληnephelēG3507formedἐγένετοegenetoG1096,overshadowingἐπισκιάζουσαepiskiazousaG1982them, anda voiceφωνὴphōnēG5456cameἐγένετοegenetoG1096out of the cloudνεφέληςnephelēsG3507: “ThisοὗτόςhoutosG3778is My belovedἀγαπητός·agapētosG27SonυἱόςhuiosG5207;listenἀκούετεakoueteG191to Him!”

8And suddenlyἐξάπιναexapinaG1819they lookedπεριβλεψάμενοιperiblepsamenoiG4017aroundG4017and sawG3708noG3762oneοὐδέναoudenaG3762with them anymoreG3765,exceptG1508JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424aloneμόνονmononG3441.

9As they were comingG2597downG2597from the mountainὄρουςorousG3735, HegaveG1291them ordersG1291not to relateδιηγήσωνταιdiēgēsōntaiG1334to anyoneμηδενὶmēdeniG3367whatἃhaG3739they had seenG3708,untilεἰ μὴ ὅτανei mē hotanG1487 G3361 G3752the SonυἱὸςhuiosG5207of ManἀνθρώπουanthrōpouG444roseἀναστῇ.anastēaG450from the deadνεκρῶνnekrōnG3498.

10TheyseizedἐκράτησανekratēsanG2902uponthat statementλόγονlogonG3056,discussingσυζητοῦντεςsuzētountesG4802with oneG1438anotherG1438whatτίtiG5101risingἀναστῆναι.anastēnaiG450from the deadνεκρῶνnekrōnG3498meantἐστινestinG1510.

11And they askedἐπηρώτωνepērōtōnG1905Him, sayingλέγοντες·legontesG3004, “Why is itthat the scribesγραμματεῖςgrammateisG1122sayλέγουσινlegousinG3004thatElijahἨλίανĒlianG2243mustδεῖdeiG1163comeἐλθεῖνeltheinG2064firstπρῶτον;prōtonG4413?”

12And He saidἔφηephēG5346to them,“ElijahἨλίαςĒliasG2243does comeἐλθὼνelthōnG2064firstπρῶτονprōtonG4413and he restoresἀποκαθιστάνειapokathistaneiG600allG3956thingsπάντα·pantaG3956. And yethowπῶςpōsG4459is it writtenγέγραπταιgegraptaiG1125ofthe SonυἱὸνhuionG5207of ManἀνθρώπουanthrōpouG444thatHe will sufferπάθῃpathēG3958manyπολλὰpollaG4183thingsG4183and be treatedG1847withG1847contemptG1847?

13But I sayλέγωlegōG3004to you that ElijahἨλίαςĒliasG2243hasindeedG2532comeἐλήλυθεν,elēluthenG2064,and they didἐποίησανepoiēsanG4160to him whateverὅσαhosaG3745they wantedἤθελονēthelonG2309,justG2531asG2531it is writtenγέγραπταιgegraptaiG1125of him.”

14And when they cameἐλθόντεςelthontesG2064back to the otherdisciplesμαθητὰςmathētasG3101,they sawG3708a largeπολὺνpolunG4183crowdὄχλονochlonG3793aroundπερὶperiG4012them, and somescribesγραμματεῖςgrammateisG1122arguingσυζητοῦνταςsuzētountasG4802with them.

15ImmediatelyG2117,when the entireπᾶςpasG3956crowdὄχλοςochlosG3793sawG3708Him, they wereamazedἐξεθαμβήθησανexethambēthēsanG1568and beganrunningG4370upG4370to greetἠσπάζοντοēspazontoG782Him.

16And He askedἐπηρώτησενepērōtēsenG1905them,“WhatτίtiG5101are you disputingσυζητεῖτεsuzēteiteG4802with them?”

17And oneεἷςheisG1520personfrom the crowdὄχλουochlouG3793answeredἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611Him, “Teacherδιδάσκαλε,didaskaleG1320,I broughtἤνεγκαēnegkaG5342You my sonυἱόνhuionG5207,because he hasἔχονταechontaG2192a spiritπνεῦμαpneumaG4151that makes himunableG216toG216speakG216;

18andwheneverὅπουhopouG3699it seizesκαταλάβῃ,katalabēG2638him, it slamsG4486him toG4486theG4486groundG4486,and he foamsἀφρίζειaphrizeiG875at the mouthand grindsτρίζειtrizeiG5149his teethὀδόνταςodontasG3599and becomes stiffξηραίνεται.xērainetaiG3583.And I toldG3004Your disciplesμαθηταῖςmathētaisG3101soG2443thatG2443they would castἐκβάλωσιν,ekbalōsinG1544it outG1544,but they couldἴσχυσαν.¶ischusanG2480not do it.”

19And He answeredἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611them and saidλέγει·legeiG3004,“OὦōG5599unbelievingἄπιστος,apistosG571generationγενεὰgeneaG1074,howG2193longπότεpoteG2193 G4219shall I be with you? HowG2193longπότεpoteG2193 G4219shall I putG430upG430with you? BringφέρετεphereteG5342him to Me!”

20And they broughtἤνεγκανēnegkanG5342the boy to Him. WhenG2532he sawG3708Him, the spiritπνεῦμαpneumaG4151immediatelyG2117threwG4952him intoG4952convulsionsσυνεσπάραξενsunesparaxenG4952,and fallingπεσὼνpesōnG4098to the groundγῆςgēsG1093, he beganrollingG2947aroundG2947and foamingἀφρίζων.aphrizōnG875at the mouth.

21And He askedἐπηρώτησενepērōtēsenG1905his fatherπατέραpateraG3962,“HowπόσοςpososG4214longχρόνοςchronosG5550has thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778beenἐστὶνestinG1510happeningγέγονενgegonenG1096to him?”And he saidG3004, “From childhoodπαιδιόθεν.paidiothenG3812.

22It has oftenπολλάκιςpollakisG4178thrownἔβαλενebalenG906him bothG2532into the fireπῦρpurG4442and into the waterὕδαταhudataG5204to killἀπολέσῃapolesēG622him. But ifεἴeiG1487You canδύνῃ,dunēG1410do anythingτιtiG5100,takeG4697pityG4697on us and helpβοήθησονboēthēsonG997us!”

23But JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424saidG3004to him,“‘IfεἰeiG1487You canδύνῃdunēG1410?’AllG3956thingsπάνταpantaG3956are possibleδυνατὰdunataG1415for the one who believesπιστεύοντι.pisteuontiG4100.”

24ImmediatelyG2117the boy’sπαιδίουpaidiouG3813fatherπατὴρpatērG3962criedG2896outG2896and saidἔλεγεν·elegenG3004, “I do believeπιστεύωpisteuōG4100;helpβοήθειboētheiG997my unbeliefἀπιστίᾳ.¶apistiaG570!”

25When JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424sawG3708thata crowdὄχλος,ochlosG3793wasrapidlyG1998gatheringG1998,He rebukedἐπετίμησενepetimēsenG2008the uncleanἀκαθάρτῳakathartōG169spiritπνεύματιpneumatiG4151,sayingλέγωνlegōnG3004to it,“You muteἄλαλονalalonG216and deafκωφὸνkōphonG2974spiritπνεῦμα,pneumaG4151, IcommandἐπιτάσσωepitassōG2004you, comeἔξελθεexeltheG1831outG1831of him and do not enterεἰσέλθῃςeiselthēsG1525himagainμηκέτιmēketiG3371!”

26And after cryingG2896outG2896and throwingG4682him intoG4682terribleπολλὰpollaG4183convulsionsσπαράξαςsparaxasG4682,it cameG1831outG1831; and the boybecameἐγένετοegenetoG1096soG5620muchG5620likeὡσεὶhōseiG5616a corpseνεκρὸςnekrosG3498thatG5620mostπολλοὺςpollousG4183of themsaidλέγεινlegeinG3004, “He is deadἀπέθανεν.apethanenG599!”

27But JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424tookκρατήσαςkratēsasG2902him by the handχειρὸςcheirosG5495and raisedἤγειρενēgeirenG1453him, and he gotG450upG450.

28When He cameεἰσελθόντοςeiselthontosG1525into thehouseοἶκονoikonG3624,His disciplesμαθηταὶmathētaiG3101beganaskingἐπηρώτωνepērōtōnG1905Him privatelyκατ᾽ ἰδίανkat᾽ idianG2596 G2398, “Why is itthat we couldἠδυνήθημενēdunēthēmenG1410not castἐκβαλεῖνekbaleinG1544it outG1544?”

29And He saidG3004to them,“ThisτοῦτοtoutoG3778kindγένοςgenosG1085cannotδύναταιdunataiG1410 G3762comeG1831outG1831by anythingG3762exceptεἰ μὴei mēG1487 G3361prayerπροσευχῇproseuchēaG4335.”
