Ezekiel 31
American Standard Version
1And it came to pass in the eleventh yearH8141, in the thirdH7992monthH2320, in the firstdayof the monthH2320, that the wordH1697 of Jehovah came unto me, sayingH559, 2SonH1121 of manH120, sayH559 unto PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, and to his multitudeH1995: Whom art thou like in thy greatnessH1433? 3Behold, the Assyrian wasH1961 a cedarH730 in LebanonH3844 with fair branchesH6057, and with a forest-like shade, and of high statureH6967; and its top wasH1961 among the thick boughs. 4The watersH4325 nourished it, the deepH8415 made it to growH1431: the riversH5104 thereof ran roundH5439 about its plantation; and it sentH7971 out its channels unto all the treesH6086 of the fieldH7704. 5ThereforeH3651 its statureH6967 was exaltedH1361 above all the treesH6086 of the fieldH7704; and its boughs were multipliedH7235, and its branchesH6288 became longH748 by reason of manyH7227 watersH4325, when it shot them forthH7971. 6All the birdsH5775 of the heavensH8064 made their nestsH7077 in its boughs; and under its branchesH6288 did all the beasts of the fieldH7704 bringH3205 forthH3205 their young; and under its shadowH6738 dweltH3427 all greatH7227 nationsH1471. 7Thus wasH1961 it fair in its greatnessH1433, in the lengthH753 of its branchesH1808; for its rootH8328 wasH1961 by manyH7227 watersH4325. 8The cedarsH730 in the gardenH1588 of GodH430 could not hide it; the fir-trees wereH1961 not like its boughs, and the plane-trees wereH1961 not as its branchesH6288; nor wasH1961 any treeH6086 in the gardenH1588 of GodH430 like unto it in its beautyH3308. 9I madeH6213 it fair by the multitudeH7230 of its branchesH1808, so that all the treesH6086 of EdenH5731, that were in the gardenH1588 of GodH430, envied it.
10ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saidH559 the LordH136 Jehovah: Because thou art exaltedH7311 in statureH6967, and he hath setH5414 his top among the thick boughs, and his heartH3824 is liftedH7311 up in his heightH6967; 11I will even deliver him into the handH3027 of the mighty one of the nationsH1471; he shall surely deal with him; I have drivenH1644 him out for his wickednessH7562. 12And strangersH2114, the terrible of the nationsH1471, have cutH3772 him off, and have leftH5203 him: upon the mountainsH2022 and in all the valleysH1516 his branchesH1808 are fallenH5307, and his boughs are brokenH7665 by all the watercourses of the landH776; and all the peoplesH5971 of the earthH776 are goneH3381 downH3381 from his shadowH6738, and have leftH5203 him. 13Upon his ruin all the birdsH5775 of the heavensH8064 shall dwellH7931, and all the beasts of the fieldH7704 shall beH1961 upon his branchesH6288; 14to the end that none of all the treesH6086 by the watersH4325 exalt themselves in their statureH6967, neither setH5414 their top among the thick boughs, nor that their mighty ones standH5975 up in their heightH6967, even all that drinkH8354 waterH4325: for they are all delivered unto deathH4194, to the nether partsH8482 of the earthH776, in the midstH8432 of the children of menH120, with them that goH3381 down to the pitH953.
15ThusH3541 saith the LordH136 Jehovah: In the dayH3117 when he wentH3381 downH3381 to SheolH7585 I caused a mourningH6937: I coveredH3680 the deepH8415 for him, and I restrainedH3607 the riversH5104 thereof; and the greatH7227 watersH4325 were stayed; and I caused LebanonH3844 to mournH56 for him, and all the treesH6086 of the fieldH7704 fainted for him. 16I made the nationsH1471 to shakeH7493 at the soundH6963 of his fall, when I cast him downH3381 to SheolH7585 with them that descend into the pitH953; and all the treesH6086 of EdenH5731, the choice and bestH2896 of LebanonH3844, all that drinkH8354 waterH4325, were comfortedH5162 in the nether partsH8482 of the earthH776. 17They alsoH1571 wentH3381 downH3381 into SheolH7585 with him unto them that are slainH2491 by the swordH2719; yea, they that were his armH2220, that dweltH3427 under his shadowH6738 in the midstH8432 of the nationsH1471.
18To whom art thou thusH3602 like in gloryH3519 and in greatnessH1433 among the treesH6086 of EdenH5731? yet shalt thou be broughtH3381 downH3381 with the treesH6086 of EdenH5731 unto the nether partsH8482 of the earthH776: thou shalt lieH7901 in the midstH8432 of the uncircumcisedH6189, with them that are slainH2491 by the swordH2719. This is PharaohH6547 and all his multitudeH1995, saith the LordH136 Jehovah.
