Deuteronomy 7

Darby Bible

1When Jehovah thy 1GodH430 shall bringH935 thee into the landH776 whither thou goest to possessH3423 it, and shall cast out manyH7227 nationsH1471 from before thee, the HittitesH2850, and the Girgashites, and the AmoritesH567, and the CanaanitesH3669, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, sevenH7651 nationsH1471 greaterH7227 and mightierH6099 than thou, 2and when Jehovah thy 2GodH430 shall giveH5414 them up before thee and thou shalt smite them, then shalt thou utterly destroyH2763 them: thou shalt makeH5414 no covenantH1285 with them, nor shew mercy unto them. 3And thou shalt makeH5414 no marriages with them: thy daughterH1323 thou shalt not giveH5414 unto his sonH1121, nor takeH3947 his daughterH1323 for thy sonH1121; 4for he will turnH5493 awayH5493 thy sonH1121 from following me, and they will serveH5647 otherH312 3godsH430, and the angerH639 of Jehovah will be kindled against you, and he will destroyH8045 thee quicklyH4118. 5But thusH3541 shall ye deal with them: ye shall breakH7665 down their altarsH4196, and shatterH7665 their statues, and hew downH5422 their Asherahs, and burnH8313 their graven images with fireH784. 6For a holyH6918 peopleH5971 art thou unto Jehovah thy 4GodH430: Jehovah thy 5GodH430 hath chosenH977 thee to beH1961 unto him a peopleH5971 for a possessionH5459, above all the peoplesH5971 that are upon the faceH6440 of the earthH127. 7Not because ye were more in number than all the peoplesH5971, hath Jehovah been attached to you and chosenH977 you, for ye are the fewestH4592 of all the peoplesH5971; 8but because Jehovah loved you, and because he would keepH8104 the oathH7621 which he had swornH7650 unto your fathersH1, hath Jehovah broughtH3318 you out with a powerful handH3027, and redeemedH6299 you out of the houseH1004 of bondage, from the handH3027 of PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714. 9And thou shalt knowH3045 that Jehovah thy 6GodH430, he is 7GodH430, the faithfulH539 8GodH430, who keepeth covenantH1285 and mercy to a thousandH505 generationsH1755 with them that loveH157 him and keepH8104 his commandmentsH4687; 10and repayeth them that hateH8130 him [each] to his faceH6440, to cause them to perishH6: he delayeth not with him that hateth him, he will repayH7999 him to his faceH6440. 11And thou shalt keepH8104 the commandmentH4687, and the statutesH2706, and the ordinancesH4941, which I commandH6680 thee this dayH3117, to do them. 12And it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these ordinancesH4941, and keepH8104 and do them, that Jehovah thy 9GodH430 will keepH8104 with thee the covenantH1285 and the mercy which he sworeH7650 unto thy fathersH1; 13and he will loveH157 thee, and blessH1288 thee, and multiplyH7235 thee, and will blessH1288 the fruitH6529 of thy wombH990, and the fruitH6529 of thy groundH127, thy corn and thy newH8492 wineH8492, and thine oilH3323, the offspring of thy kine, and the increaseH7235 of thy sheepH6629, in the landH127 which he sworeH7650 unto thy fathersH1 to giveH5414 thee. 14Thou shalt beH1961 blessedH1288 above all the peoplesH5971; there shall not beH1961 male or female barrenH6135 with thee, or with thy cattleH929; 15and Jehovah will take awayH5493 from thee all sicknessH2483, and none of the evilH7451 infirmities of EgyptH4714, which thou knowest, will he putH5414 upon thee; but he will lay them upon all them that hateH8130 thee. 16And thou shalt consumeH398 all the peoplesH5971 that Jehovah thy 10GodH430 will giveH5414 up unto thee; thine eyeH5869 shall not spare them, and thou shalt not serveH5647 their 11godsH430; for that would be a snareH4170 unto thee. 17If thou shouldest sayH559 in thy heartH3824, These nationsH1471 are greaterH7227 than I; howH349 can I dispossessH3423 them? 18fearH3372 them not; rememberH2142 well what Jehovah thy 12GodH430 did unto PharaohH6547, and unto all the Egyptians; 19the greatH1419 trials which thine eyesH5869 sawH7200, and the signsH226, and the wondersH4159, and the powerful handH3027, and the stretched-outH5186 armH2220, whereby Jehovah thy 13GodH430 broughtH3318 thee out: soH3651 will Jehovah thy 14GodH430 do unto all the peoplesH5971 whom thou fearest. 20Moreover, Jehovah thy 15GodH430 will sendH7971 the hornetH6880 among them, until they that are leftH7604, and they that hideH5641 themselves from thee, are destroyedH6. 21Thou shalt not be afraidH3372 of them; for Jehovah thy 16GodH430 is in thy midstH7130, a 17GodH430 greatH1419 and terrible. 22And Jehovah thy 18GodH430 will cast out those nationsH1471 from before thee by littleH4592 and littleH4592; thou shalt not be ableH3201 to makeH3615 an endH3615 of them at once, lestH6435 the beasts of the fieldH7704 increaseH7235 upon thee. 23But Jehovah thy 19GodH430 will giveH5414 them up before thee, and will confound them with greatH1419 consternation, until they are destroyedH8045. 24And he will giveH5414 their kingsH4428 into thy handH3027, and thou shalt putH5414 out their nameH8034 from under the heavensH8064; no manH376 shall standH3320 before thee, until thou hast destroyedH8045 them. 25The graven images of their 20godsH430 shall ye burnH8313 with fireH784; thou shalt not covetH2530 the silverH3701 and goldH2091 [that is] on them and takeH3947 it unto thee, lestH6435 thou be ensnared therein; for it is an abominationH8441 to Jehovah thy 21GodH430. 26And thou shalt not bringH935 an abominationH8441 into thy houseH1004, lest thou beH1961 a cursed thingH8441 like it: thou shalt utterly detestH8262 it, and thou shalt utterly abhorH8581 it; for it is a cursed thingH8441.
