Deuteronomy 19
Darby Bible
1When Jehovah thy 1GodH430 hath cutH3772 off the nationsH1471 whose landH776 Jehovah thy 2GodH430 giveth thee, and thou hast dispossessedH3423 them, and dwellest in their citiesH5892 and in their housesH1004, 2thou shalt separateH914 threeH7969 citiesH5892 for thyself in the midstH8432 of thy landH776, which Jehovah thy 3GodH430 giveth thee to possessH3423. 3Thou shalt prepareH3559 thee the wayH1870, and divideH5157 the territoryH1366 of thy landH776, which Jehovah thy 4GodH430 giveth thee to inheritH5157, into threeH8027 parts, so that every slayer may fleeH5127 thither. 4And this is the case of the slayer who shall fleeH5127 thither that he may live: he that smiteth his neighbour unwittingly, whom he hatedH8130 not previously; 5as whenH834 he goeth into the woodH6086 with his neighbour to hew woodH6086, and his handH3027 fetcheth a stroke with the axeH1631 to cutH3772 down the treeH6086, and the ironH1270 slippeth from the handle, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he dieH4191; such an oneH259 shall fleeH5127 unto oneH259 of these citiesH5892, and live; 6lestH6435 the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 pursueH7291 the manslayer, while his heartH3824 is hot, and overtakeH5381 him, because the wayH1870 is long, and smite him mortally; whereas he was not worthy of deathH4194, since he hatedH8130 him not previously. 7ThereforeH3651 I commandH6680 thee, sayingH559, Thou shalt separateH914 threeH7969 citiesH5892 for thyself. 8And if Jehovah thy 5GodH430 enlargeH7337 thy borderH1366, as he hath swornH7650 unto thy fathersH1, and giveH5414 thee all the landH776 which he promised to giveH5414 unto thy fathersH1 9(if thou keepH8104 all this commandmentH4687 to do it, which I commandH6680 thee this dayH3117, to loveH157 Jehovah thy 6GodH430, and to walk in his waysH1870 continually), then shalt thou addH3254 threeH7969 citiesH5892 more for thyself to these threeH7969, 10that innocentH5355 bloodH1818 beH1961 not shedH8210 in the midstH7130 of thy landH776 which Jehovah thy 7GodH430 giveth thee for an inheritanceH5159, and bloodH1818 come not upon thee. 11But if a manH376 hateH8130 his neighbour, and lieH693 in waitH693 for him, and riseH6965 up against him, and smite him mortally that he dieH4191, and he fleeH5127 into oneH259 of these citiesH5892, 12then the eldersH2205 of his cityH5892 shall sendH7971 and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the handH3027 of the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818, that he may dieH4191. 13Thine eyeH5869 shall not spare him; and thou shalt put away innocentH5355 bloodH1818 from IsraelH3478, that it may be well with thee. 14Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour's landmark, which they of old timeH7223 have fixed in thine inheritanceH5159, which thou shalt inheritH5157 in the landH776 which Jehovah thy 8GodH430 giveth thee to possessH3423. 15OneH259 witnessH5707 shall not riseH6965 up against a manH376 for any iniquityH5771, and for any sinH2398, in any sinH2398 that he sinneth: at the mouthH6310 of twoH8147 witnessesH5707, or at the mouthH6310 of threeH7969 witnessesH5707, shall a matterH1697 be establishedH6965. 16If an unrighteous witnessH5707 riseH6965 up against any manH376 to testifyH6030 against him of an offence; 17then both the menH376 between whom the controversy is shall standH5975 before Jehovah, before the priestsH3548 and the judgesH8199 that shall beH1961 in those daysH3117; 18and the judgesH8199 shall makeH3190 thorough inquiry; and if the witnessH5707 be a false witnessH5707, and he have testified falsely against his brotherH251, 19then shall ye do unto him as he had thought to have done unto his brotherH251; and thou shalt put evilH7451 away from thy midstH7130. 20And those that remainH7604 shall hearH8085, and fearH3372, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evilH7451 in thy midstH7130. 21And thine eyeH5869 shall not spare: lifeH5315 for lifeH5315, eyeH5869 for eyeH5869, toothH8127 for toothH8127, handH3027 for handH3027, footH7272 for footH7272.
