Deuteronomy 22
Darby Bible
1Thou shalt not seeH7200 thy brother's oxH7794 or his sheepH7716 goH7725 astray, and hideH5956 thyself from them: thou shalt in any case bringH7725 them backH7725 unto thy brotherH251. 2And if thy brotherH251 beH1961 not near unto thee, and thou knowH3045 him not, then thou shalt bringH7725 it unto thy houseH1004, and it shall beH1961 with thee until thy brotherH251 seekH1875 after it, and thou shalt restoreH7725 it unto him. 3And soH3651 shalt thou do with his ass; and soH3651 shalt thou do with his clothingH8071; and soH3651 shalt thou do with everythingH3605 that is lost of thy brotherH251, which he loseth, and thou findest: thou mayest not hideH5956 thyself. 4Thou shalt not seeH7200 thy brother's ass or his oxH7794 fallH5307 by the wayH1870, and hideH5956 thyself from them: thou shalt in any case [help] him to lift them up. 5There shall not beH1961 a man's apparel on a womanH802, neither shall a manH1397 putH3847 on a woman's clothingH8071; for whoever doeth so is an abominationH8441 to Jehovah thy 1GodH430. 6If a bird's nestH7064 chance to be before thee in the wayH1870, in any treeH6086, or upon the groundH776, with youngH1121 or with eggsH1000, and the dam sitting upon the youngH1121 or upon the eggsH1000, thou shalt not takeH3947 the dam with the youngH1121: 7thou shalt in any case let the dam goH7971, and thou mayest takeH3947 the youngH1121 to thee, that it may be wellH3190 with thee, and that thou mayest prolongH748 thy daysH3117. 8When thou buildest a newH2319 houseH1004, thou shalt makeH7760 a parapet for thy roofH1406, that thou bring not bloodH1818 upon thy houseH1004, if any one should in any wise fallH5307 from it. 9Thou shalt not sowH2232 thy vineyardH3754 with [seedH2233 of] twoH3610 sorts, lestH6435 the whole of thy seedH2233 which thou hast sownH2232, and the produceH8393 of thy vineyardH3754, be forfeited. 10Thou shalt not plough with an oxH7794 and an ass togetherH3162. 11Thou shalt not wearH3847 a garment of mixedH8162 material, [woven] of woolH6785 and linenH6593 togetherH3162. 12Tassels shalt thou makeH6213 thee on the fourH702 cornersH3671 of thy clothing, wherewith thou coverest thyself. 13If a manH376 takeH3947 a wifeH802, and goH935 in unto her and hateH8130 her, 14and charge her with thingsH1697 for scandalous talk, and cause an evilH7451 nameH8034 against her to be spread abroad, and sayH559, This womanH802 have I takenH3947, and I cameH3318 in unto her, and I did not findH4672 her a virgin; 15then shall the fatherH1 of the damsel, and her motherH517, takeH3947 and bringH3318 forthH3318 the tokens of the damsel's virginityH1331 unto the eldersH2205 of the cityH5892 in the gateH8179; 16and the damsel's fatherH1 shall sayH559 unto the eldersH2205, I gaveH5414 my daughterH1323 unto this manH376 as wifeH802, and he hatesH8130 her; 17and behold, he charges her with thingsH1697 for scandalous talk, sayingH559, I foundH4672 not thy daughterH1323 a virgin; and hereH2009 are the tokens of my daughter's virginityH1331. And they shall spreadH6566 the clothH8071 before the eldersH2205 of the cityH5892. 18And the eldersH2205 of that cityH5892 shall takeH3947 the manH376 and chastise him; 19and they shall fine him a hundredH3967 shekels of silverH3701, and giveH5414 them unto the fatherH1 of the damsel, because he hath caused an evilH7451 nameH8034 to beH1961 spread abroad against a virginH1330 in IsraelH3478. And she shall remain his wifeH802: he may not putH5414 her awayH7971 all his daysH3117. 20But if this thingH1697 is true, [and] virginityH1331 hath not beenH1961 foundH4672 with the damsel; 21then they shall bringH3318 out the damsel unto the entranceH6607 of her father's houseH1004, and the menH376 of her cityH5892 shall stoneH68 her with stonesH68 that she dieH4191: because she hath wrought infamy in IsraelH3478, committing fornication in her father's houseH1004; and thou shalt putH4191 evilH7451 away from thy midstH7130. 22If a manH376 be foundH4672 lyingH7901 with a man's wifeH802, they shall both of them dieH4191, the manH376 that layH7901 with the womanH802, and the womanH802; and thou shalt putH4191 away evilH7451 from IsraelH3478. 23If a damsel, a virginH1330, beH1961 betrothedH781 to some oneH376, and a manH376 findH4672 her in the cityH5892, and lieH7901 with her, 24then ye shall bringH3318 them both out unto the gateH8179 of that cityH5892, and stoneH68 them with stonesH68 that they dieH4191; the damsel, because she criedH6817 not, [being] in the cityH5892, and the manH376, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wifeH802; and thou shalt putH4191 evilH7451 away from thy midstH7130. 25But if a manH376 findH4672 a betrothedH781 damsel in the fieldH7704, and the manH376 force her, and lieH7901 with her, then the manH376 onlyH905 that layH7901 with her shall dieH4191; 26and unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing: there is in the damsel no sinH2399 worthy of deathH4194; for as when a manH376 riseth against his neighbour, and murdereth him, soH3651 is this matterH1697; 27for he foundH4672 her in the fieldH7704, the betrothedH781 damsel criedH6817, and there was no one to saveH3467 her. 28If a manH376 findH4672 a damsel, a virginH1330, who is not betrothedH781, and layH7901 hold on her, and lieH7901 with her, and they be foundH4672, 29then the manH376 that layH7901 with her shall giveH5414 unto the damsel's fatherH1 fiftyH2572 [shekels] of silverH3701, and she shall beH1961 his wifeH802, because he hath humbled her; he may not putH5414 her awayH7971 all his daysH3117. 30A man shall not take his father's wife, nor uncover his father's skirt.
