Deuteronomy 14

Darby Bible

1Ye are sonsH1121 of Jehovah your 1GodH430: ye shall not cutH1413 yourselves, nor makeH7760 any baldnessH7144 between your eyesH5869 for a deadH4191 person. 2For thou art a holyH6918 peopleH5971 unto Jehovah thy 2GodH430, and thee hath Jehovah chosenH977 for a peopleH5971 of possessionH5459 unto himself, out of all the peoplesH5971 that are upon the faceH6440 of the earthH127. 3Thou shalt not eatH398 any abominable thingH8441. 4These are the beasts which ye shall eatH398: the oxH7794, the sheepH7716, and the goatH5795; 5the hart, and the gazelle, and the stag, and the wild goat, and the dishon and the oryx, and the wild sheep. 6And every beast that hath cloven hoofsH6541, and the feet quite split open into double hoofsH6541, [and] which cheweth the cudH1625, among the beasts, that ye shall eatH398. 7OnlyH389 these ye shall not eatH398 of those that chew the cudH1625, or of those with hoofsH6541 cloven and split open: the camelH1581, and the hareH768, and the rock-badger; for they chew the cudH1625, but have not cloven hoofsH6541 — they shall be uncleanH2931 unto you; 8and the swine, for it hath cloven hoofsH6541, yet cheweth not the cudH1625 — it shall be uncleanH2931 unto you. Of their fleshH1320 shall ye not eatH398, and their carcase shall ye not touchH5060. 9These shall ye eatH398 of all that are in the watersH4325: whatsoever hath finsH5579 and scalesH7193 shall ye eatH398; 10but whatsoever hath not finsH5579 and scalesH7193 ye shall not eatH398: it shall be uncleanH2931 unto you. 11All cleanH2889 birdsH6833 shall ye eatH398. 12But these are they of which ye shall not eatH398: the eagleH5404, and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle, 13and the falcon, and the kite, and the black kite after its kindH4327; 14and every ravenH6158 after its kindH4327; 15and the female ostrichH3284, and the male ostrichH3284, and the sea-gull, and the hawk after its kindH4327; 16the owlH3244, and the ibis and the swan, 17and the pelican, and the carrion vultureH7360, and the gannet, 18and the storkH2624, and the heronH601 after its kindH4327, and the hoopoeH1744, and the batH5847. 19And every wingedH5775 crawling thingH8318 shall be uncleanH2931 unto you; they shall not be eatenH398. 20All cleanH2889 fowls shall ye eatH398. 21Ye shall eatH398 of no carcase; thou shalt giveH5414 it unto the stranger that is within thy gatesH8179, that he may eatH398 it, or sellH4376 it unto a foreignerH5237; for thou art a holyH6918 peopleH5971 to Jehovah thy 3GodH430. Thou shalt not boilH1310 a kid in its mother's milkH2461. 22Thou shalt truly titheH6237 all the increase of thy seedH2233, the produceH8393 of the fieldH7704, yearH8141 by yearH8141. 23And thou shalt eatH398 before Jehovah thy 4GodH430, in the placeH4725 which he will chooseH977 to cause his nameH8034 to dwellH7931 there, the titheH4643 of thy corn, of thy newH8492 wineH8492, and of thine oilH3323, and the firstlings of thy herdsH1241 and of thy flocksH6629; that thou mayest learnH3925 to fearH3372 Jehovah thy 5GodH430 continually. 24And if the wayH1870 be too long for thee, so that thou art not ableH3201 to carryH5375 it, because the placeH4725 is too farH7368 from thee, which Jehovah thy 6GodH430 will chooseH977 to setH7760 his nameH8034 there, when Jehovah thy 7GodH430 blesseth thee; 25then shalt thou giveH5414 it for moneyH3701, and bind the moneyH3701 together in thy handH3027, and goH1980 to the placeH4725 which Jehovah thy 8GodH430 will chooseH977, 26and thou shalt giveH5414 the moneyH3701 for whatever thy soulH5315 desireth, for oxenH1241, or for sheepH6629, or for wineH3196, or for strongH7941 drinkH7941, or for whatever thy soulH5315 asketh of thee; and thou shalt eatH398 there before Jehovah thy 9GodH430, and thou shalt rejoiceH8055, thou, and thy houseH1004. 27And thou shalt not forsakeH5800 the LeviteH3881 that is within thy gatesH8179; for he hath no portionH2506 nor inheritanceH5159 with thee. 28At the endH7097 of threeH7969 yearsH8141 thou shalt bringH3318 forthH3318 all the titheH4643 of thine increase the same yearH8141, and shalt lay it up within thy gatesH8179; 29and the LeviteH3881 — for he hath no portionH2506 nor inheritanceH5159 with thee — and the stranger, and the fatherlessH3490, and the widowH490, that are within thy gatesH8179, shall comeH935, and shall eatH398 and be satisfiedH7646; that Jehovah thy 10GodH430 may blessH1288 thee in all the workH4639 of thy handH3027 which thou doest.
