Deuteronomy 2

1And we turnedH6437, and took our journeyH1870 into the wildernessH4057 by the wayH1870 of the Red seaH3220, as Jehovah had saidH1696 unto me; and we wentH5437 roundH5437 mount SeirH8165 manyH7227 daysH3117. 2And Jehovah spoke to me, sayingH559, 3Ye have gone roundH5437 this mountainH2022 long enoughH7227: turnH6437 you northward. 4And commandH6680 the peopleH5971, sayingH559, Ye are to passH5674 through the borderH1366 of your brethren the children of EsauH6215, who dwellH3427 in SeirH8165; and they will be afraidH3372 of you; and ye shall be veryH3966 guardedH8104: 5attack them not; for I will not giveH5414 you of their landH776, no, not so much as a foot-breadth; for I have givenH5414 mount SeirH8165 as a possessionH3425 unto EsauH6215. 6Ye shall buyH7666 of them foodH400 for moneyH3701, that ye may eatH398; and waterH4325 shall ye alsoH1571 buyH7666 of them for moneyH3701, that ye may drinkH8354; 7for Jehovah thy 1GodH430 hath blessedH1288 thee in all the workH4639 of thy handH3027. He hath knownH3045 thy walking through this greatH1419 wildernessH4057: these fortyH705 yearsH8141 hath Jehovah thy 2GodH430 been with thee; thou hast lackedH2637 nothing. 8And we passedH5674 by from our brethren the children of EsauH6215, who dweltH3427 in SeirH8165, by the plainH6160, by ElathH359, and by Ezion-geberH6100, and we turnedH6437 and passedH5674 by the wayH1870 of the wildernessH4057 of MoabH4124. 9And Jehovah saidH559 to me, Distress not the Moabites, neither engage with them in battleH4421; for I will not giveH5414 thee of their landH776 a possessionH3425; for unto the children of LotH3876 have I givenH5414 ArH6144 as a possessionH3425. 10(The Emim dweltH3427 therein in times past, a peopleH5971 greatH1419, and manyH7227, and tall as the Anakim. 11They alsoH637 are reckonedH2803 as giants like the Anakim; but the MoabitesH4125 callH7121 them Emim. 12And in SeirH8165 dweltH3427 the Horites in times past; and the children of EsauH6215 dispossessedH3423 them, and destroyedH8045 them from before them, and dweltH3427 in their stead; as IsraelH3478 did to the landH776 of their possessionH3423, which Jehovah gaveH5414 to them.) 13NowH6258 riseH6965 up, and passH5674 over the torrent ZeredH2218. And we passedH5674 over the torrent ZeredH2218. 14Now the daysH3117 in which we cameH1980 from Kadesh-barneaH6947, until we had comeH1980 over the torrent ZeredH2218, were thirty-eight yearsH8141; until the whole generationH1755 of the menH376 of warH4421 was consumed from the midstH7130 of the campH4264, as Jehovah had swornH7650 unto them. 15Moreover the handH3027 of Jehovah wasH1961 against them to destroy them from the midstH7130 of the campH4264, until they wereH1961 consumed. 16And it came to pass when all the menH376 of warH4421 were consumed, having diedH4191 off from among the peopleH5971, 17that Jehovah spokeH1696 to me, sayingH559, 18Thou art to passH5674 this dayH3117 over the borderH1366 of MoabH4124, [which is] ArH6144, 19and come near over against the children of AmmonH5983; thou shalt not distress them nor attack them; for I will not giveH5414 thee of the landH776 of the children of AmmonH5983 a possessionH3425; for unto the children of LotH3876 have I givenH5414 it as a possessionH3425. 20(That alsoH637 is reckonedH2803 a landH776 of giants: giants dweltH3427 therein in time past, and the AmmonitesH5984 callH7121 them Zamzummim; 21a peopleH5971 greatH1419, and manyH7227, and tall as the Anakim; and Jehovah destroyedH8045 them before them, and they dispossessedH3423 them, and dweltH3427 in their stead; 22as he did to the children of EsauH6215, who dweltH3427 in SeirH8165, from before whom he destroyedH8045 the Horites; and they dispossessedH3423 them, and dweltH3427 in their stead, even to this dayH3117. 23And the Avvites who dweltH3427 in the hamlets as far as Gazah — the Caphtorim, who cameH3318 out of CaphtorH3731, destroyedH8045 them, and dweltH3427 in their stead.) 24RiseH6965 up, takeH3423 your journey, and passH5674 over the riverH5158 ArnonH769. Behold, I have givenH5414 into thy handH3027 SihonH5511 the kingH4428 of HeshbonH2809, the AmoriteH567, and his landH776: beginH2490, takeH3423 possessionH3423, and engage with him in battleH4421. 25This dayH3117 will I beginH2490 to putH5414 the dreadH6343 of thee and the fearH3374 of thee upon the peoplesH5971 under the whole heavenH8064; who will hearH8085 reportH8088 of thee, and will trembleH7264, and quakeH7264 because of thee. 26And I sentH7971 messengersH4397 out of the wildernessH4057 of KedemothH6932 unto SihonH5511 the kingH4428 of HeshbonH2809 with wordsH1697 of peaceH7965, sayingH559, 27Let me passH5674 through thy landH776: by the highway alone will I go; I will neither turnH5493 to the rightH3225 handH3225 nor to the left. 28Thou shalt sellH7666 me foodH400 for moneyH3701 that I may eatH398; and thou shalt giveH5414 me waterH4325 for moneyH3701 that I may drinkH8354; I will onlyH7535 passH5674 through on my feetH7272, 29— as the children of EsauH6215 who dwellH3427 in SeirH8165, and the MoabitesH4125 who dwellH3427 in ArH6144, did to me, — until I shall passH5674 over the JordanH3383 into the landH776 which Jehovah our 3GodH430 giveth us. 30But SihonH5511 the kingH4428 of HeshbonH2809 wouldH14 not let us passH5674 by him; for Jehovah thy 4GodH430 hardenedH7185 his spiritH7307, and madeH5414 his heartH3824 obdurate, that he might giveH5414 him into thy handH3027, as it is this dayH3117. 31And Jehovah saidH559 to me, Behold, I beginH2490 to giveH5414 SihonH5511 and his landH776 before thee: beginH2490, takeH3423 possessionH3423, that thou mayest possessH3423 his landH776. 32And SihonH5511 cameH3318 out against us for battleH4421, he and all his peopleH5971, to JahazH3096. 33But Jehovah our 5GodH430 gaveH5414 him up before us; and we smote him, and his sonsH1121, and his whole peopleH5971. 34And we tookH3920 all his citiesH5892 at that timeH6256, and utterly destroyed every cityH5892, men, and womenH802, and littleH2945 onesH2945: we let none escape. 35OnlyH7535 the cattleH929 we tookH3920 as bootyH7998 for ourselves, and the spoilH7998 of the citiesH5892 which we tookH3920. 36From AroerH6177, which is on the bankH8193 of the river ArnonH769, and the cityH5892 that is in the ravine even to GileadH1568, there wasH1961 not one cityH5892 too strong for us: Jehovah our 6GodH430 delivered all before us. 37OnlyH7535 thou didst not approach the landH776 of the children of AmmonH5983, the whole border of the riverH5158 JabbokH2999, nor the citiesH5892 of the mountainH2022, nor to whatsoever Jehovah our 7GodH430 had forbidden us.
