Deuteronomy 15

Darby Bible

1At the endH7093 of sevenH7651 yearsH8141 thou shalt makeH6213 a release, 2and this is the mannerH1697 of the release: Every creditorH5383 shall relax his handH3027 from the loan which he hath lentH5383 unto his neighbour; he shall not demand it of his neighbour, or of his brotherH251; for a release to Jehovah hath been proclaimedH7121. 3Of the foreignerH5237 thou mayest demand it; but what is thine with thy brotherH251 thy handH3027 shall release; 4save when there shall beH1961 no one in need among you; for Jehovah will greatly blessH1288 thee in the landH776 that Jehovah thy 1GodH430 giveth thee for an inheritanceH5159 to possessH3423 it, 5if thou onlyH7535 diligently hearken unto the voiceH6963 of Jehovah thy 2GodH430, to takeH8104 heed to do all this commandmentH4687 which I commandH6680 thee this dayH3117. 6For Jehovah thy 3GodH430 will blessH1288 thee, as he promised thee; and thou shalt lendH5670 on pledge to manyH7227 nationsH1471, but thou shalt not borrow; and thou shalt ruleH4910 over manyH7227 nationsH1471, but they shall not ruleH4910 over thee. 7If there beH1961 amongst you a poor man, any oneH259 of thy brethren in oneH259 of thy gatesH8179, in thy landH776 which Jehovah thy 4GodH430 giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thy heartH3824, nor shutH7092 thy handH3027 from thy brotherH251 in need; 8but thou shalt openH6605 thy handH3027 bountifully unto him, and shalt certainly lendH5670 him on pledge what is sufficient for his need, [in that] which he lacketh. 9Beware that there beH1961 not a wicked thought in thy heartH3824, sayingH559, The seventh yearH8141, the yearH8141 of release, is at hand; and thine eyeH5869 beH1961 evil against thy poor brotherH251, and thou givest him nought; and he cry against thee to Jehovah, and it beH1961 sinH2399 in thee. 10Thou shalt bountifully giveH5414 unto him, and thy heartH3824 shall not be evil-disposed when thou givest unto him; because for this thingH1697 Jehovah thy 5GodH430 will blessH1288 thee in all thy worksH4639, and in all the business of thy handH3027. 11For the needyH34 shall never ceaseH2308 from within the landH776; thereforeH3651 I commandH6680 thee, sayingH559, Thou shalt openH6605 thy handH3027 bountifully unto thy brotherH251, to thy poorH6041 and to thy needyH34, in thy landH776. 12If thy brotherH251, a HebrewH5680 man, or a HebrewH5680 woman, have been soldH4376 unto thee, he shall serveH5647 thee sixH8337 yearsH8141, and in the seventhH7637 yearH8141 thou shalt let him goH7971 freeH2670 from thee. 13And when thou sendest him out freeH2670 from thee, thou shalt not let him goH7971 awayH7971 emptyH7387; 14thou shalt certainly furnish him from thy sheepH6629, and out of thy floorH1637, and out of thy winepressH3342: of what Jehovah thy 6GodH430 hath blessedH1288 thee with shalt thou giveH5414 unto him. 15And thou shalt rememberH2142 that thou wast a bondman in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and that Jehovah thy 7GodH430 redeemedH6299 thee; thereforeH3651 I commandH6680 thee this thingH1697 to-day. 16And it shall beH1961, if he sayH559 unto thee, I will not goH3318 away from thee, — because he loveth thee and thy houseH1004, because he is wellH2895 with thee, — 17then thou shalt takeH3947 an awlH4836, and thrust it through his earH241 and into the doorH1817; and he shall beH1961 thy bondman for everH5769. And alsoH637 unto thy handmaid thou shalt do likewise. 18Let it not seem hardH7185 unto thee, when thou sendest him awayH7971 freeH2670 from thee; for doubleH4932 the worth of a hired servant hath he been to thee, [in] servingH5647 thee sixH8337 yearsH8141; and Jehovah thy 8GodH430 will blessH1288 thee in all that thou doest. 19Every firstling that is bornH3205 among thy kine and among thy sheepH6629 that is a maleH2145, thou shalt hallow to Jehovah thy 9GodH430: thou shalt do no workH5647 with the firstling of thy kine, nor shearH1494 the firstling of thy sheepH6629. 20Thou shalt eatH398 it before Jehovah thy 10GodH430, yearH8141 by yearH8141, in the placeH4725 which Jehovah will chooseH977, thou and thy householdH1004. 21But if there beH1961 a defect therein, [if it beH1961] lameH6455, or blindH5787, [or have] any evilH7451 defect, thou shalt not sacrificeH2076 it to Jehovah thy 11GodH430. 22In thy gatesH8179 shalt thou eatH398 it; the uncleanH2931 and the cleanH2889 [shall eatH398 it] alikeH3162, as the gazelle and as the hart. 23OnlyH7535 thou shalt not eatH398 the bloodH1818 thereof: thou shalt pourH8210 it upon the earthH776 as waterH4325.
