Deuteronomy 7

1WhenH3588 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 bringsH935 you intoH413 the landH776 thatH834 youH859 are enteringH935H8033 to possessH3423, and He drives outH5394 before youH6440 manyH7227 nationsH1471—the HittitesH2850, GirgashitesH1622, AmoritesH567, CanaanitesH3669, PerizzitesH6522, HivitesH2340, and JebusitesH2983, sevenH7651 nationsH1471 largerH7227 and strongerH6099 than youH4480— 2and when the LORDH3068 your GodH430 has delivered them overH5414 to youH6440 to defeat themH5221, then you must devote them to complete destructionH2763.1 MakeH3772 noH3808 treatyH12852 with them and show them noH3808 mercyH2603.

3Do notH3808 intermarryH2859 with them. Do notH3808 giveH5414 your daughtersH1323 to their sonsH1121 orH3808 takeH3947 their daughtersH1323 for your sonsH1121, 4becauseH3588 they will turn your sonsH1121 awayH5493 from following MeH310 to serveH5647 otherH312 godsH430. Then the angerH639 of the LORDH3068 will burnH2734 against you, and He will swiftlyH4118 destroy youH8045.

5InsteadH3588H518, this is whatH3541 you are to do to themH6213: tear downH5422 their altarsH4196, smashH7665 their sacred pillarsH4676, cut downH1438 their Asherah polesH842, and burnH8313 their idolsH6456 in the fireH784. 6ForH3588 youH859 are a peopleH5971 holyH6918 to the LORDH3068 your GodH430. The LORDH3068 your GodH430 has chosen youH977 to beH1961 a peopleH5971 for His prized possessionH5459 out of allH3605 peoplesH5971 onH5921 the faceH6440 of the earthH127.

7The LORDH3068 did notH3808 set His affectionH2836 on you and chooseH977 you because you were more numerousH7231 than the otherH3605 peoplesH5971, forH3588 youH859 were the fewestH4592 of allH3605 peoplesH5971. 8ButH3588 because the LORDH3068 lovedH160 youH853 and keptH8104 the oathH7621 He sworeH7650 to your fathersH1, HeH3068 brought you outH3318 with a mightyH2389 handH3027 and redeemed youH6299 from the houseH1004 of slaveryH5650, from the handH3027 of PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714.

9Know thereforeH3045 thatH3588 the LORDH3068 your GodH430H1931 is GodH430, the faithfulH539 GodH410 who keepsH8104 His covenantH1285 of loving devotionH2617 for a thousandH505 generationsH1755 of those who love HimH157 and keepH8104 His commandmentsH4687. 10But those who hate HimH8130 He repaysH7999 toH413 their facesH6440 with destructionH6; He will notH3808 hesitateH309 to repayH7999 toH413 his faceH6440 the one who hates HimH8130.

11So keepH8104 the commandmentsH4687 andH853 statutesH2706 andH853 ordinancesH4941 thatH834 IH595 am giving youH6680 to followH6213 this dayH3117.

The Promises of God

(Exodus 23:20–33)

IfH6118 you listen toH8085 theseH428 ordinancesH4941 and keep them carefullyH8104, then the LORDH3068 your GodH430 will keepH8104 His covenantH1285 andH853 the loving devotionH2617 thatH834 He sworeH7650 to your fathersH1. 13He will love youH157 and bless youH1288 and multiply youH7235. He will blessH1288 the fruitH6529 of your wombH990 and the produceH6529 of your landH127—your grainH1715, new wineH8492, and oilH3323, the youngH7698 of your herdsH504 and the lambsH6251 of your flocksH6629—inH5921 the landH127 thatH834 He sworeH7650 to your fathersH1 to giveH5414 you. 14You will beH1961 blessedH1288 above allH3605 peoplesH5971; among you there will beH1961 noH3808 barren manH6135 or womanH6135 or livestockH929.

15And the LORDH3068 will removeH5493 from youH4480 allH3605 sicknessH2483. He will notH3808 layH7760 upon you anyH3605 of the terribleH7451 diseasesH4064 you knewH3045 in EgyptH4714, but He will inflict themH5414 on allH3605 who hate youH8130. 16You must destroyH398 allH3605 the peoplesH5971 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 will deliverH5414 to you. Do notH3808 lookH5869 on themH5921 with pityH2347. Do notH3808 worshipH5647 their godsH430, forH3588 thatH1931 will be a snareH4170 to you.

17You may sayH3588H559 in your heartH3824, “TheseH428 nationsH1471 are greaterH7227 than we areH4480; howH349 canH3201 we drive them outH3423?” 18But do notH3808 be afraidH3372 of them. Be sure to rememberH2142 whatH834 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 didH6213 to PharaohH6547 and allH3605 EgyptH4714: 19the greatH1419 trialsH4531 thatH834 youH5869 sawH7200, the signsH226 and wondersH4159, and the mightyH2389 handH3027 and outstretchedH5186 armH2220 by whichH834 the LORDH3068 your GodH430 brought you outH3318. The LORDH3068 your GodH430 will doH6213 the sameH3651 to allH3605 the peoplesH5971 youH859 now fearH3373H6440.

20MoreoverH1571, the LORDH3068 your GodH430 will sendH7971 the hornetH6880 against them untilH5704 even the survivorsH7604 hidingH5641 from youH6440 have perishedH6. 21Do notH3808 be terrifiedH6206 by themH6440, forH3588 the LORDH3068 your GodH430, who is among youH7130, is a greatH1419 and awesomeH3372 GodH410.

22The LORDH3068 your GodH430 will drive outH5394 theseH411 nationsH1471 before youH6440 littleH4592 by littleH4592. You will notH3808 be enabledH3201 to eliminate themH3615 all at onceH4118, orH6435 the wildH7704 animalsH2416 would multiplyH7235 around youH5921. 23But the LORDH3068 your GodH430 will give them overH5414 to youH6440 and throw themH2000 into greatH1419 confusionH4103, untilH5704 they are destroyedH8045. 24He will hand their kingsH4428 over toH5414 youH3027, and you will wipe outH6 their namesH8034 from underH8478 heavenH8064. NoH3808 oneH376 will be able to standH3320 against youH6440H5704; you will annihilate themH8045.

25You must burn upH8313H784 the imagesH6456 of their godsH430; do notH3808 covetH2530 the silverH3701 and goldH2091 that is on themH5921 or take itH3947 for yourselves, orH6435 you will be ensnaredH3369 by it; forH3588 itH1931 is detestableH8441 to the LORDH3068 your GodH430. 26And you must notH3808 bringH935 any detestable thingH8441 intoH413 your houseH1004, or youH1961, like itH3644, will be set apart for destructionH2764. You are to utterly detestH8262 and abhor itH8581, becauseH3588 itH1931 is set apart for destructionH2764.
