Deuteronomy 25

Darby Bible

1If there beH1961 a controversy between menH376, and they resort to judgmentH4941, and they judgeH8199 [their caseH7379]; then they shall justifyH6663 the righteousH6662, and condemnH7561 the wickedH7563. 2And it shall beH1961 if the wickedH7563 man have deserved to beH1961 beaten, that the judgeH8199 shall cause him to lie down, and beH1961 beaten before his faceH6440, according to the measure of his wickednessH7564 with a certain numberH4557 [of stripes]. 3With fortyH705 [stripes] shall they beat him; they shall not exceed, lestH6435, if they continue to beat him with manyH7227 stripes above these, thy brotherH251 become despicable in thine eyesH5869. 4Thou shalt not muzzle the oxH7794 when he treadeth out [the corn]. 5If brethren dwellH3427 togetherH3162, and oneH259 of them dieH4191, and have no sonH1121, the wifeH802 of the deadH4191 shall not marry a stranger abroad: her husband's brotherH251 shall goH935 in unto her, and takeH3947 her to him as wifeH802, and perform the duty of a husband's brotherH251 unto her. 6And it shall beH1961, that the firstbornH1060 that she beareth shall standH6965 in the nameH8034 of his brotherH251 who is deadH4191, that his nameH8034 beH1961 not blotted out from IsraelH3478. 7But if the manH376 like not to takeH3947 his brother's wifeH2994, his brother's wifeH2994 shall goH5927 up to the gateH8179 unto the eldersH2205, and sayH559, My husband's brotherH251 refuseth to raiseH6965 up unto his brotherH251 a nameH8034 in IsraelH3478: he will not perform for me the duty of a husband's brotherH251. 8Then the eldersH2205 of his cityH5892 shall callH7121 him and speakH1696 unto him; and if he standH5975 to it and sayH559, I like not to takeH3947 her; 9then shall his brother's wifeH2994 come near to him before the eyesH5869 of the eldersH2205, and drawH5066 his sandalH5275 from his footH7272, and spitH3417 in his faceH6440, and shall answerH6030 and sayH559, So shall it be done unto the manH376 that will not buildH1129 up his brother's houseH1004. 10And his nameH8034 shall be calledH7121 in IsraelH3478, The houseH1004 of him that hath his shoe drawn off. 11When menH376 fight togetherH3162 oneH259 with another, and the wifeH802 of the oneH259 come near to rescueH5337 her husbandH376 out of the handH3027 of him that smiteth him, and stretchH7971 out her handH3027, and seize him by his secret parts, 12thou shalt cutH7112 off her handH3709; thine eyeH5869 shall not spare. 13Thou shalt not have in thy bagH3599 divers weightsH68, a greatH1419 and a smallH6996. 14Thou shalt not have in thy houseH1004 divers ephahs, a greatH1419 and a smallH6996. 15A perfectH8003 and just weightH68 shalt thou have; a perfectH8003 and just ephahH374 shalt thou have; that thy daysH3117 may beH1961 prolongedH748 in the landH127 that Jehovah thy 1GodH430 giveth thee. 16For every one that doeth such thingsH428, every one that doeth unrighteousnessH5766, is an abominationH8441 to Jehovah thy 2GodH430. 17RememberH2142 what AmalekH6002 did unto thee on the wayH1870, whenH834 ye cameH3318 forthH3318 out of EgyptH4714; 18how he metH7136 thee on the wayH1870, and smote the hindmost of thee, all the feeble that lagged behind thee, whenH834 thou wast faint and wearyH5889, and he feared not 3GodH430. 19And it shall beH1961, when Jehovah thy 4GodH430 shall have givenH5414 thee restH5117 from all thine enemiesH341 roundH5439 about, in the landH776 that Jehovah thy 5GodH430 giveth thee for an inheritanceH5159 to possessH3423 it, that thou shalt blot out the remembranceH2143 of AmalekH6002 from under the heavensH8064; thou shalt not forgetH7911 it.
