Deuteronomy 25

1If there beH1961 a controversy between menH376, and they come unto judgmentH4941, and the judgesH8199 judgeH8199 them; then they shall justifyH6663 the righteousH6662, and condemnH7561 the wickedH7563. 2And it shall beH1961, if the wickedH7563 man beH1961 worthy to beH1961 beaten, that the judgeH8199 shall cause him to lie down, and to beH1961 beaten before his faceH6440, according to his wickednessH7564, by numberH4557. 3FortyH705 stripes he may give him, he shall not exceed; lestH6435, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with manyH7227 stripes, then thy brotherH251 should seem vile unto thee.

4Thou shalt not muzzle the oxH7794 when he treadeth out the grain.

5If brethren dwellH3427 togetherH3162, and oneH259 of them dieH4191, and have no sonH1121, the wifeH802 of the deadH4191 shall not beH1961 married without unto a stranger: her husband’sH2993 brotherH251 shall goH935 in unto her, and takeH3947 her to him to wifeH802, and perform the duty of a husband’sH2993 brotherH251 unto her. 6And it shall beH1961, that the first-born that she beareth shall succeed in the nameH8034 of his brotherH251 that is deadH4191, that his nameH8034 beH1961 not blotted out of IsraelH3478. 7And if the manH376 like not to takeH3947 his brother’sH251 wifeH2994, then his brother’sH251 wifeH2994 shall goH5927 up to the gateH8179 unto the eldersH2205, and sayH559, My husband’sH2993 brotherH251 refuseth to raiseH6965 up unto his brotherH251 a nameH8034 in IsraelH3478; he will not perform the duty of a husband’sH2993 brotherH251 unto me. 8Then the eldersH2205 of his cityH5892 shall callH7121 him, and speakH1696 unto him: and if he standH5975, and sayH559, I like not to takeH3947 her; 9then shall his brother’sH251 wifeH2994 come unto him in the presenceH6440 of the eldersH2205, and loose his shoe from off his footH7272, and spitH3417 in his faceH6440; and she shall answerH6030 and sayH559, So shall it be done unto the manH376 that doth not buildH1129 up his brother’sH251 houseH1004. 10And his nameH8034 shall be calledH7121 in IsraelH3478, The houseH1004 of him that hath his shoe loosed.

11When menH376 strive togetherH3162 oneH259 with another, and the wifeH802 of the oneH259 draweth near to deliverH5337 her husbandH376 out of the handH3027 of him that smiteth him, and putteth forthH7971 her handH3027, and taketh him by the secrets; 12then thou shalt cutH7112 off her handH3709, thine eyeH5869 shall have no pityH2347.

13Thou shalt not have in thy bagH3599 diverse weightsH68, a greatH1419 and a smallH6996. 14Thou shalt not have in thy houseH1004 diverse measuresH374, a greatH1419 and a smallH6996. 15A perfectH8003 and just weightH68 shalt thou have; a perfectH8003 and just measureH374 shalt thou have: that thy daysH3117 may beH1961 long in the landH127 which Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee. 16For all that do such thingsH428, even all that do unrighteously, are an abominationH8441 unto Jehovah thy GodH430.

17RememberH2142 what AmalekH6002 did unto thee by the wayH1870 as ye cameH3318 forthH3318 out of EgyptH4714; 18how he metH7136 thee by the wayH1870, and smote the hindmost of thee, all that were feeble behind thee, whenH834 thou wast faint and wearyH5889; and he feared not GodH430. 19Therefore it shall beH1961, when Jehovah thy GodH430 hath givenH5414 thee restH5117 from all thine enemiesH341 roundH5439 about, in the landH776 which Jehovah thy GodH430 giveth thee for an inheritanceH5159 to possessH3423 it, that thou shalt blot out the remembranceH2143 of AmalekH6002 from under heavenH8064; thou shalt not forgetH7911.
