“WhenH3588 you buildH1129 a newH2319 houseH1004, you shall makeH6213 a 4parapetH4624 for your roofH1406, so that you will not bringH7760 guiltH1818 forH1818 bloodshedH1818 on your houseH1004 ifH3588 anyoneH5307 fallsH5307 from it.

Laws on Morality
“11IfH3588 anyH376 manH376 takesH3947 a wifeH802 and goesH935 inH935 to her and then 12turnsH8130 againstH8130 her, 14and he chargesH7760H1697 her with shamefulH5949 behaviorH5949 and 13publiclyH3318 defamesH8034H7451H3318 her, and saysH559, ‘I tookH3947 thisH2088 womanH802, but when I cameH7126 nearH7126 her, I did not findH4672 her to have evidenceH1331 ofH1331 virginityH1331,’ 15then the girl’sH5291 fatherH1 and her motherH517 shall takeH3947 and bringH3318 outH3318 the evidenceH1331 ofH1331 the girl’sH5291 virginityH1331 to the eldersH2205 of the cityH5892 at the gateH8179. 16And the girl’sH5291 fatherH1 shall sayH559 to the eldersH2205, ‘I gaveH5414 my daughterH1323 to thisH2088 manH376 as a wifeH802, but he 14turnedH8130 againstH8130 her; 17and beholdH2009, he has chargedH7760H1697 her with shamefulH5949 behaviorH5949, sayingH559, “I did not findH4672 your daughterH1323 to have evidenceH1331 ofH1331 virginityH1331.” But 15thisH428 is the evidenceH1331 ofH1331 my daughter’sH1323 virginityH1331.’ And they shall spreadH6566 outH6566 the garmentH8071 beforeH6440 the eldersH2205 of the cityH5892. 18Then 16the eldersH2205 of that cityH5892 shall takeH3947 the manH376 and rebukeH3256 him, 19and they shall fineH6064 him a hundredH3967 shekels of silverH3701 and giveH5414 it to the girl’sH5291 fatherH1, becauseH3588 he 17publiclyH3318 defamedH8034H7451H3318 a virginH1330 of IsraelH3478. And she shall remainH1961 his wifeH802; he is not allowedH3201 to 18divorceH7971 her allH3605 his daysH3117.
“But ifH518 thisH2088 1920chargeH1697 is trueH571, and they did not findH4672 the girlH5291 to have evidenceH1331 ofH1331 virginityH1331, 21then they shall bringH3318 the girlH5291 outH3318 to the doorwayH6607 of her father’sH1 houseH1004, and the menH376 of her cityH5892 shall stoneH5619H68 her 21to deathH4191, becauseH3588 she has 22committedH6213 a disgracefulH5039 sinH5039 in IsraelH3478 by playingH2181 theH2181 prostituteH2181 in her father’sH1 houseH1004; so 23you shall eliminateH1197 the evilH7451 from amongH7130 you.
“24IfH3588 a manH376 is foundH4672 sleepingH7901 with a marriedH1166H1167 womanH802, then bothH1571H8147 of them shall dieH4191, the manH376 who sleptH7901 with the womanH802, and the womanH802; so you shall eliminateH1197 the evilH7451 from IsraelH3478.
“25IfH3588 there is a girlH5291 who is a virginH1330 26betrothedH781 to a manH376, and another manH376 findsH4672 her in the cityH5892 and sleepsH7901 with her, 24then you shall bringH3318 them bothH8147 outH3318 to the gateH8179 of that cityH5892 and you shall stoneH5619H68 them 27to deathH4191: the girlH5291, becauseH5921H1697H834 she did not cryH6817 outH6817 forH6817 helpH6817 though she was in the cityH5892, and the manH376, becauseH5921H1697H834 he has violatedH6031 his neighbor’sH7453 wifeH802. So you shall eliminateH1197 the evilH7451 from amongH7130 you.
“But ifH518 the manH376 findsH4672 the girlH5291 who is betrothedH781 in the fieldH7704, and the manH376 seizesH2388 her and 28rapesH7901 her, then onlyH905 the manH376 whoH834 29rapedH7901 her shall dieH4191. 26And you are not to doH6213 anythingH1697 to the girlH5291; thereH369 isH369 noH369 sinH2399 in the girlH5291 worthy of deathH4194, for justH3512 asH3512 a manH376 risesH6965 againstH5921 his neighborH7453 and murdersH7523 him, 30soH3651 is thisH2088 caseH1697. 27WhenH3588 he foundH4672 her in the fieldH7704, the betrothedH781 girlH5291 31criedH6817 outH6817, but thereH369 wasH369 noH369 one to saveH3467 her.
“32IfH3588 a manH376 findsH4672 a girlH5291 who is a virginH1330, whoH834 is not betrothedH781, and he seizesH8610 her and hasH7901 sexualH7901 relationsH7901 with her, and they are discoveredH4672, 29then the manH376 who hadH7901 sexualH7901 relationsH7901 with her shall giveH5414 the girl’sH5291 fatherH1 fiftyH2572 shekels of silverH3701, and she shall becomeH1961 his wifeH802, becauseH8478H834 he has violatedH6031 her; he is not allowedH3201 to divorceH7971 her allH3605 his daysH3117.
“3334A manH376 shall not takeH3947 35his father’sH1 wifeH802 in marriage, so that he does not 36uncoverH1540 his father’sH1 garmentH3671.
