Deuteronomy 22

Thou shalt not seeH7200 thy brother’sH251 oxH7794 or his sheepH7716 goH7725 astray, and hideH5956 thyself from them: thou shalt surely bringH7725 them again unto thy brotherH251. 2And if thy brotherH251 beH1961 not nigh unto thee, or if thou knowH3045 him not, then thou shalt bringH7725 it home to thy houseH1004, and it shall beH1961 with thee until thy brotherH251 seekH1875 after it, and thou shalt restoreH7725 it to him. 3And soH3651 shalt thou do with his ass; and soH3651 shalt thou do with his garmentH8071; and soH3651 shalt thou do with every lost thing of thy brother’sH251, which he hath lost, and thou hast foundH4672: thou mayest not hideH5956 thyself. 4Thou shalt not seeH7200 thy brother’sH251 ass or his oxH7794 fallenH5307 downH5307 by the wayH1870, and hideH5956 thyself from them: thou shalt surely help him to lift them up again.

A womanH802 shall not wearH3847 that which pertaineth unto a manH1397, neither shall a manH1397 putH3847 on a woman’sH802 garmentH8071; for whosoever doeth these thingsH428 is an abominationH8441 unto Jehovah thy GodH430.

If a bird’sH6833 nestH7064 chance to be before thee in the wayH1870, in any treeH6086 or on the groundH776, with youngH1121 onesH667 or eggsH1000, and the dam sitting upon the youngH1121, or upon the eggsH1000, thou shalt not takeH3947 the dam with the youngH1121: 7thou shalt surely let the dam goH7971, but the youngH1121 thou mayest takeH3947 unto thyself; that it may be wellH3190 with thee, and that thou mayest prolongH748 thy daysH3117.

When thou buildest a newH2319 houseH1004, then thou shalt makeH7760 a battlement for thy roofH1406, that thou bring not bloodH1818 upon thy houseH1004, if any man fallH5307 from thence.

Thou shalt not sowH2232 thy vineyardH3754 with twoH3610 kindsH3610 of seedH2233, lestH6435 the whole fruit be forfeited, the seedH2233 which thou hast sownH2232, and the increase of the vineyardH3754. 10Thou shalt not plowH2790 with an oxH7794 and an ass togetherH3162. 11Thou shalt not wearH3847 a mingled stuff, woolH6785 and linenH6593 togetherH3162.

Thou shalt makeH6213 thee fringes upon the fourH702 borders of thy vesture, wherewith thou coverest thyself.

If any manH376 takeH3947 a wifeH802, and goH935 in unto her, and hateH8130 her, 14and lay shameful thingsH1697 to her charge, and bringH3318 up an evilH7451 nameH8034 upon her, and sayH559, I tookH3947 this womanH802, and when I cameH3318 nigh to her, I foundH4672 not in her the tokens of virginityH1331; 15then shall the fatherH1 of the damsel, and her motherH517, takeH3947 and bringH3318 forthH3318 the tokens of the damsel’s virginityH1331 unto the eldersH2205 of the cityH5892 in the gateH8179; 16and the damsel’s fatherH1 shall sayH559 unto the eldersH2205, I gaveH5414 my daughterH1323 unto this manH376 to wifeH802, and he hateth her; 17and, lo, he hath laid shameful thingsH1697 to her charge, sayingH559, I foundH4672 not in thy daughterH1323 the tokens of virginityH1331; and yet these are the tokens of my daughter’sH1323 virginityH1331. And they shall spreadH6566 the garmentH8071 before the eldersH2205 of the cityH5892. 18And the eldersH2205 of that cityH5892 shall takeH3947 the manH376 and chastise him; 19and they shall fine him a hundredH3967 shekels of silverH3701, and giveH5414 them unto the fatherH1 of the damsel, because he hath broughtH3318 up an evilH7451 nameH8034 upon a virginH1330 of IsraelH3478: and she shall beH1961 his wifeH802; he may not putH5414 her awayH7971 all his daysH3117. 20But if this thingH1697 beH1961 true, that the tokens of virginityH1331 wereH1961 not foundH4672 in the damsel; 21then they shall bringH3318 out the damsel to the doorH6607 of her father’sH1 houseH1004, and the menH376 of her cityH5892 shall stoneH68 her to deathH4191 with stonesH68, because she hath wrought follyH5039 in IsraelH3478, to playH2181 the harlot in her father’sH1 houseH1004: so shalt thou putH4191 away the evilH7451 from the midstH7130 of thee.

If a manH376 be foundH4672 lyingH7901 with a womanH802 married to a husbandH376, then they shall both of them dieH4191, the manH376 that layH7901 with the womanH802, and the womanH802: so shalt thou putH4191 away the evilH7451 from IsraelH3478.

If there beH1961 a damsel that is a virginH1330 betrothedH781 unto a husbandH376, and a manH376 findH4672 her in the cityH5892, and lieH7901 with her; 24then ye shall bringH3318 them both out unto the gateH8179 of that cityH5892, and ye shall stoneH68 them to deathH4191 with stonesH68; the damsel, because she criedH6817 not, being in the cityH5892; and the manH376, because he hath humbled his neighbor’sH7453 wifeH802: so thou shalt putH4191 away the evilH7451 from the midstH7130 of thee.

But if the manH376 findH4672 the damsel that is betrothedH781 in the fieldH7704, and the manH376 force her, and lieH7901 with her; then the manH376 onlyH905 that layH7901 with her shall dieH4191: 26but unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; there is in the damsel no sinH2399 worthy of deathH4194: for as when a manH376 riseth against his neighborH7453, and slayeth him, even soH3651 is this matterH1697; 27for he foundH4672 her in the fieldH7704, the betrothedH781 damsel criedH6817, and there was none to saveH3467 her.

If a manH376 findH4672 a damsel that is a virginH1330, that is not betrothedH781, and layH7901 hold on her, and lieH7901 with her, and they be foundH4672; 29then the manH376 that layH7901 with her shall giveH5414 unto the damsel’s fatherH1 fiftyH2572 shekels of silverH3701, and she shall beH1961 his wifeH802, because he hath humbled her; he may not putH5414 her awayH7971 all his daysH3117.

A man shall not take his father’s wife, and shall not uncover his father’s skirt.
