Deuteronomy 2
Revised Version 1895
1Then weH834 turnedH6437, and tookH853 our journeyH1870 intoH413 the wildernessH4057 by the wayH1870 to the Red SeaH3220, as the LORDH3068 spake unto meH413: and weH834 compassed mountH2022 SeirH8165 manyH7227 daysH3117. 2And the LORDH3068 spake unto meH413, sayingH559, 3Ye have compassed this mountainH2022 long enoughH7227: turnH6437 youH853 northwardH6828. 4And commandH6680 thou the peopleH5971, sayingH559, Ye are to passH5674 throughH4480 the borderH1366 of your brethrenH251 the childrenH1121 of EsauH6215, whichH1366 dwellH3427 in SeirH8165; and they shall be afraidH3372 of youH859: takeH8104 ye good heedH8104 unto yourselves therefore: 5contendH1624 notH3808 with them; for I will notH3808 giveH5414 youH3588 of their landH776, noH3808, notH3808 soH5414 much as for the soleH3709 of the footH7272 to tread on: becauseH3588 I have givenH5414 mountH2022 SeirH8165 unto EsauH6215 for a possessionH3425. 6Ye shall purchaseH3701 foodH400 of them for moneyH3701, that ye may eatH398; and ye shall also buyH7666 waterH4325 of them for moneyH3701, that ye may drinkH8354. 7For the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 hath blessedH1288 thee in allH3605 the workH4639 of thy handH3027: he hath knownH3045 thy walking throughH3027 this greatH1419 wildernessH4057: theseH2088 fortyH705 yearsH8141 the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 hath been with thee; thou hast lackedH2637 nothingH3808. 8SoH5674 weH854 passedH5674 by from our brethrenH251 the childrenH1121 of EsauH6215, which dwellH3427 in SeirH8165, from the wayH1870 of the ArabahH6160 from ElathH359 and from Ezion-geberH6100. And weH854 turnedH6437 and passedH5674 by the wayH1870 of the wildernessH4057 of MoabH4124. 9And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto meH413, Vex notH3808 MoabH4124, neitherH3808 contendH1624 with them in battleH4421: for I will notH3808 giveH5414 thee of his landH776 for a possessionH3425; becauseH3588 I have givenH5414 ArH6144 unto the childrenH1121 of LotH3876 for a possessionH3425. 10(The Emim dweltH3427 therein aforetime, a peopleH5971 greatH1419, and manyH7227, and tallH7311, as the AnakimH6062: 11theseH1992 also are accountedH2803 RephaimH7497, as the AnakimH6062; but the MoabitesH4125 callH7121 them Emim. 12The HoritesH2752 also dweltH3427 in SeirH8165 aforetime, but the childrenH1121 of EsauH6215 succeededH8478 them; and they destroyedH8045 them from beforeH6440 them, and dweltH3427 in their steadH8478; as IsraelH3478 didH6213 unto the landH776 of his possessionH3423, whichH834 the LORDH3068 gaveH5414 unto them.) 13NowH6258 riseH6965 upH6965, and getH6965 youH853 over the brookH5158 ZeredH2218. And weH6258 wentH6965 over the brookH5158 ZeredH2218. 14And the daysH3117 in whichH834 weH834 cameH1980 from Kadesh-barneaH6947, untilH5704 weH834 were comeH1980 over the brookH5158 ZeredH2218, were thirtyH7970 and eightH8083 yearsH8141; untilH5704 allH3605 the generationH1755 of the menH376 of warH4421 were consumedH8552 from the midstH7130 of the campH4264, as the LORDH3068 sware unto them. 15MoreoverH1571 the handH3027 of the LORDH3068 was againstH3027 them, to destroyH2000 them from the midstH7130 of the campH4264, untilH5704 they were consumedH8552. 16SoH1961 it cameH1961 to passH1961, when allH3605 the menH376 of warH4421 were consumedH8552 and deadH4191 from among the peopleH5971, 17that the LORDH3068 spake unto meH413, sayingH559, 18Thou art this dayH3117 to passH5674 over ArH6144, the borderH1366 of MoabH4124: 19and when thou comest nigh over againstH4136 the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983, vex them notH3808, norH3808 contendH1624 with them: for I will notH3808 giveH5414 thee of the landH776 of the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983 for a possessionH3425: becauseH3588 I have givenH5414 it unto the childrenH1121 of LotH3876 for a possessionH3425. 20(That also is accountedH2803 a landH776 of RephaimH7497: RephaimH7497 dweltH3427 therein aforetime; but the AmmonitesH5984 callH7121 them Zamzummim; 21a peopleH5971 greatH1419, and manyH7227, and tallH7311, as the AnakimH6062; but the LORDH3068 destroyedH8045 them beforeH6440 them; and they succeededH8478 them, and dweltH3427 in their steadH8478: 22as he didH6213 for the childrenH1121 of EsauH6215, whichH834 dwellH3427 in SeirH8165, when he destroyedH8045 the HoritesH2752 from beforeH6440 them; and they succeededH8478 them, and dweltH3427 in their steadH8478 evenH5704 unto this dayH3117: 23and the AvvimH5761 which dweltH3427 in villages as farH5704 as GazaH5804, the CaphtorimH3732, which cameH3318 forthH3318 outH3318 of CaphtorH3731, destroyedH8045 them, and dweltH3427 in their steadH8478.) 24RiseH6965 ye upH6965, takeH3423 your journeyH5265, and passH5674 over the valleyH5158 of ArnonH769: beholdH7200, I have givenH5414 intoH776 thine handH3027 SihonH5511 the AmoriteH567, kingH4428 of HeshbonH2809, and his landH776: beginH2490 to possessH3423 it, and contendH1624 with him in battleH4421. 25This dayH3117 will I beginH2490 to putH5414 the dreadH6343 of thee and the fearH3374 of thee uponH5921 the peoplesH5971 that are underH8478 the wholeH3605 heavenH8064, who shall hearH8085 the reportH8088 of thee, and shall trembleH7264, and be in anguishH2342 becauseH5921 of thee. 26And I sentH7971 messengersH4397 outH7971 of the wildernessH4057 of KedemothH6932 unto SihonH5511 kingH4428 of HeshbonH2809 with wordsH1697 of peaceH7965, sayingH559, 27LetH3808 meH3808 passH5674 throughH5674 thy landH776: I will goH5674 along by the highwayH1870, I will neitherH3808 turnH5493 unto the rightH3225 handH3225 norH3808 to the leftH8040. 28Thou shalt sellH7666 meH5414 foodH400 for moneyH3701, that I may eatH398; and giveH5414 meH5414 waterH4325 for moneyH3701, that I may drinkH8354: onlyH7535 letH5414 meH5414 passH5674 throughH5674 on my feetH7272; 29as the childrenH1121 of EsauH6215 whichH834 dwellH3427 in SeirH8165, and the MoabitesH4125 whichH834 dwellH3427 in ArH6144, didH6213 unto meH413; untilH5704 I shall passH5674 over JordanH3383 intoH413 the landH776 whichH834 the LORDH3068 our GodH430 giveth usH5414. 30But SihonH5511 kingH4428 of HeshbonH2809 would notH3808 letH5414 usH5414 passH5674 by him: for the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 hardenedH7185 his spiritH7307, and madeH5414 his heartH3824 obstinateH553, that he might deliverH5414 him intoH3027 thy handH3027, as at this dayH3117. 31And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto meH413, BeholdH7200, I have begunH2490 to deliverH5414 upH7200 SihonH5511 and his landH776 beforeH6440 thee: beginH2490 to possessH3423, that thou mayest inheritH3423 his landH776. 32Then SihonH5511 cameH3318 outH3318 againstH7125 usH5971, he and allH3605 his peopleH5971, unto battleH4421 at JahazH3096. 33And the LORDH3068 our GodH430 deliveredH5414 him upH5414 beforeH6440 usH5414; and weH3605 smoteH5221 him, and his sonsH1121, and allH3605 his peopleH5971. 34And weH3605 tookH3920 allH3605 his citiesH5892 at that time, and utterly destroyed everyH3605 inhabited cityH5892, with the womenH802 and the littleH2945 onesH2945; weH3605 leftH7604 noneH3808 remainingH7604: 35onlyH7535 the cattleH929 weH834 tookH3920 for a preyH962 unto ourselves, with the spoilH7998 of the citiesH5892 whichH834 weH834 had takenH3920. 36From AroerH6177, whichH834 is on the edgeH8193 of the valleyH5158 of ArnonH769, and from the cityH5892 that is in the valleyH5158, evenH5704 unto GileadH1568, there was notH3808 a cityH5892 tooH4480 highH7682 for usH5414: the LORDH3068 our GodH430 deliveredH5414 upH5704 allH3605 beforeH6440 usH5414: 37onlyH7535 to the landH776 of the childrenH1121 of AmmonH5983 thou camest notH3808 nearH7126; allH3605 the sideH3027 of the riverH5158 JabbokH2999, and the citiesH5892 of the hillH2022 countryH2022, and wheresoever the LORDH3068 our GodH430 forbade usH413.
