Deuteronomy 2
1Then we turnedH6437, and took our journeyH1870 into the wildernessH4057 by the wayH1870 to the Red SeaH3220, as Jehovah spake unto me; and we compassed mount SeirH8165 manyH7227 daysH3117. 2And Jehovah spake unto me, sayingH559, 3Ye have compassed this mountainH2022 long enoughH7227: turnH6437 you northward. 4And commandH6680 thou the peopleH5971, sayingH559, Ye are to passH5674 through the borderH1366 of your brethren the children of EsauH6215, that dwellH3427 in SeirH8165; and they will be afraidH3372 of you. TakeH8104 ye good heedH8104 unto yourselves therefore; 5contend not with them; for I will not giveH5414 you of their landH776, no, not so much as for the soleH3709 of the footH7272 to tread on; because I have givenH5414 mount SeirH8165 unto EsauH6215 for a possessionH3425. 6Ye shall purchase foodH400 of them for moneyH3701, that ye may eatH398; and ye shall alsoH1571 buyH7666 waterH4325 of them for moneyH3701, that ye may drinkH8354. 7For Jehovah thy GodH430 hath blessedH1288 thee in all the workH4639 of thy handH3027; he hath knownH3045 thy walking through this greatH1419 wildernessH4057: these fortyH705 yearsH8141 Jehovah thy GodH430 hath been with thee; thou hast lackedH2637 nothing. 8So we passedH5674 by from our brethren the children of EsauH6215, that dwellH3427 in SeirH8165, from the wayH1870 of the ArabahH6160 from ElathH359 and from Ezion-geberH6100.
And we turnedH6437 and passedH5674 by the wayH1870 of the wildernessH4057 of MoabH4124. 9And Jehovah saidH559 unto me, Vex not MoabH4124, neither contend with them in battleH4421; for I will not giveH5414 thee of his landH776 for a possessionH3425; because I have givenH5414 ArH6144 unto the children of LotH3876 for a possessionH3425. 10(The Emim dweltH3427 therein aforetime, a peopleH5971 greatH1419, and manyH7227, and tall, as the Anakim: 11these alsoH637 are accountedH2803 RephaimH7497, as the Anakim; but the MoabitesH4125 callH7121 them Emim. 12The Horites also dweltH3427 in SeirH8165 aforetime, but the children of EsauH6215 succeeded them; and they destroyedH8045 them from before them, and dweltH3427 in their stead; as IsraelH3478 did unto the landH776 of his possessionH3423, which Jehovah gaveH5414 unto them). 13NowH6258 riseH6965 up, and get you over the brook ZeredH2218. And we went over the brook ZeredH2218. 14And the daysH3117 in which we cameH1980 from Kadesh-barneaH6947, until we were comeH1980 over the brook ZeredH2218, were thirtyH7970 and eightH8083 yearsH8141; until all the generationH1755 of the menH376 of warH4421 were consumed from the midstH7130 of the campH4264, as Jehovah sware unto them. 15Moreover the handH3027 of Jehovah wasH1961 against them, to destroy them from the midstH7130 of the campH4264, until they wereH1961 consumed.
16So it came to pass, when all the menH376 of warH4421 were consumed and deadH4191 from among the peopleH5971, 17that Jehovah spake unto me, sayingH559, 18Thou art this dayH3117 to passH5674 over ArH6144, the borderH1366 of MoabH4124: 19and when thou comest nigh over against the children of AmmonH5983, vex them not, nor contend with them; for I will not giveH5414 thee of the landH776 of the children of AmmonH5983 for a possessionH3425; because I have givenH5414 it unto the children of LotH3876 for a possessionH3425. 20(That alsoH637 is accountedH2803 a landH776 of RephaimH7497: RephaimH7497 dweltH3427 therein aforetime; but the AmmonitesH5984 callH7121 them Zamzummim, 21a peopleH5971 greatH1419, and manyH7227, and tall, as the Anakim; but Jehovah destroyedH8045 them before them; and they succeeded them, and dweltH3427 in their stead; 22as he did for the children of EsauH6215, that dwellH3427 in SeirH8165, when he destroyedH8045 the Horites from before them; and they succeeded them, and dweltH3427 in their stead even unto this dayH3117. 23And the Avvim, that dweltH3427 in villages as far as GazaH5804, the Caphtorim, that cameH3318 forthH3318 out of CaphtorH3731, destroyedH8045 them, and dweltH3427 in their stead.) 24RiseH6965 ye up, takeH3423 your journey, and passH5674 over the valley of the ArnonH769: behold, I have givenH5414 into thy handH3027 SihonH5511 the AmoriteH567, kingH4428 of HeshbonH2809, and his landH776; beginH2490 to possessH3423 it, and contend with him in battleH4421. 25This dayH3117 will I beginH2490 to putH5414 the dreadH6343 of thee and the fearH3374 of thee upon the peoplesH5971 that are under the whole heavenH8064, who shall hearH8085 the reportH8088 of thee, and shall trembleH7264, and be in anguishH2342 because of thee.
26And I sentH7971 messengersH4397 out of the wildernessH4057 of KedemothH6932 unto SihonH5511 kingH4428 of HeshbonH2809 with wordsH1697 of peaceH7965, sayingH559, 27Let me passH5674 through thy landH776: I will go along by the highway, I will turnH5493 neither unto the rightH3225 handH3225 nor to the left. 28Thou shalt sellH7666 me foodH400 for moneyH3701, that I may eatH398; and giveH5414 me waterH4325 for moneyH3701, that I may drinkH8354: onlyH7535 let me passH5674 through on my feetH7272; 29as the children of EsauH6215 that dwellH3427 in SeirH8165, and the MoabitesH4125 that dwellH3427 in ArH6144, did unto me; until I shall passH5674 over the JordanH3383 into the landH776 which Jehovah our GodH430 giveth us. 30But SihonH5511 kingH4428 of HeshbonH2809 wouldH14 not let us passH5674 by him; for Jehovah thy GodH430 hardenedH7185 his spiritH7307, and madeH5414 his heartH3824 obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy handH3027, as at this dayH3117. 31And Jehovah saidH559 unto me, Behold, I have begunH2490 to deliver up SihonH5511 and his landH776 before thee: beginH2490 to possessH3423, that thou mayest inheritH3423 his landH776. 32Then SihonH5511 cameH3318 out against us, he and all his peopleH5971, unto battleH4421 at JahazH3096. 33And Jehovah our GodH430 delivered him up before us; and we smote him, and his sonsH1121, and all his peopleH5971. 34And we tookH3920 all his citiesH5892 at that timeH6256, and utterly destroyed every inhabited cityH5892, with the womenH802 and the littleH2945 onesH2945; we leftH7604 none remainingH7604: 35onlyH7535 the cattleH929 we tookH3920 for a prey unto ourselves, with the spoilH7998 of the citiesH5892 which we had takenH3920. 36From AroerH6177, which is on the edgeH8193 of the valley of the ArnonH769, and from the cityH5892 that is in the valley, even unto GileadH1568, there wasH1961 not a cityH5892 too highH7682 for us; Jehovah our GodH430 delivered up all before us: 37onlyH7535 to the landH776 of the children of AmmonH5983 thou camest not near; all the side of the riverH5158 JabbokH2999, and the citiesH5892 of the hill-country, and wheresoever Jehovah our GodH430 forbade us.
