Acts 22:25-30
25But as they stretched him forward with the thongs, PaulG3972 saidG3004 to the centurionG1543 who stoodG2476 [by], Is it lawfulG1832 for you to scourge a manG444 [who is] a RomanG4514 and uncondemnedG178? 26And the centurionG1543, having heardG191 it, went and reportedG518 it to the chiliarch, sayingG3004, What art thou going to do? for this manG444 isG1510 a RomanG4514. 27And the chiliarch comingG4334 up saidG3004 to him, TellG3004 me, Art thou a RomanG4514? And he saidG3004, YesG3483. 28And the chiliarch answeredG611, I, for a greatG4183 sumG2774, bought this citizenship. And PaulG3972 saidG5346, But I was alsoG2532 [free] bornG1080. 29ImmediatelyG2112 thereforeG3767 those who wereG1510 going to examine him left him, and the chiliarch alsoG2532 wasG1510 afraidG5399 when he ascertained that he wasG1510 a RomanG4514, and because he had boundG1210 him. 30And on the morrow, desirous to knowG1097 the certainty [of the matter] whyG5101 he was accusedG2723 of the JewsG2453, he loosedG3089 him, and commandedG2753 the chiefG749 priestsG749 and all the councilG4892 to meet, and having broughtG2609 PaulG3972 downG2609 setG2476 him before them.
