2 Chronicles 33

Darby Bible

1ManassehH4519 was twelve yearsH8141 old when he began to reignH4427; and he reignedH4427 fifty-fiveH2572 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389. 2And he did evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah, like the abominationsH8441 of the nationsH1471 that Jehovah had dispossessedH3423 from before the children of IsraelH3478. 3And he builtH1129 again the highH1116 placesH1116 that HezekiahH2396 his fatherH1 had brokenH5422 downH7812; and he reared up altarsH4196 to the BaalsH1168, and madeH6213 Asherahs, and worshipped all the hostH6635 of heavenH8064 and servedH5647 them. 4And he builtH1129 altarsH4196 in the houseH1004 of Jehovah, of which Jehovah had saidH559, In JerusalemH3389 shall my nameH8034 beH1961 for everH5769. 5And he builtH1129 altarsH4196 to all the hostH6635 of heavenH8064 in both courts of the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 6He also caused his children to passH5674 through the fireH784 in the valleyH1516 of the sonH1121 of HinnomH2011; and he used magic and divinationH5172 and sorcery, and appointed necromancers and soothsayers: he wrought evilH7451 beyond measure in the sight of Jehovah, to provokeH3707 him to angerH3707. 7And he setH7760 the graven imageH6459 of the idolH6459 that he had madeH6213, in the houseH1004 of 1GodH430, of which 2GodH430 had saidH559 to DavidH1732 and to SolomonH8010 his sonH1121, In this houseH1004, and in JerusalemH3389, which I have chosen out of all the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, will I putH7760 my nameH8034 for ever; 8neither will I any more removeH5493 the footH7272 of IsraelH3478 from out of the landH127 that I have appointedH5975 to your fathersH1; if they will onlyH7535 take heedH8104 to do all that I commandedH6680 them through MosesH4872, according to all the lawH8451 and the statutesH2706 and the ordinancesH4941. 9And ManassehH4519 led JudahH3063 and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 astrayH8582, to do moreH4480 evilH7451 than the nationsH1471 that Jehovah had destroyedH8045 from before the children of IsraelH3478. 10And Jehovah spokeH1696 to ManassehH4519 and to his peopleH5971; but they did not hearken. 11And Jehovah broughtH935 upon them the captains of the hostH6635 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, who tookH3920 ManassehH4519 with fettersH5178, and boundH631 him with chains of brass, and carried him to BabylonH894. 12And when he was in affliction, he besought Jehovah his 3GodH430, and humbledH3665 himself greatly before the 4GodH430 of his fathersH1, 13and prayedH6419 to him. And he was intreated of him and heardH8085 his supplicationH8467, and broughtH7725 him again to JerusalemH3389 into his kingdomH4438. Then ManassehH4519 knewH3045 that Jehovah, he was 5GodH430. 14And after this he builtH1129 the outerH2435 wallH2346 of the cityH5892 of DavidH1732, on the westH4628, toward GihonH1521, in the valley, even to the entrance of the fish-gate, and carried it roundH5437 OphelH6077, and raised it up a veryH3966 great height; and he putH7760 captains of war in all the fortifiedH1219 citiesH5892 of JudahH3063. 15And he removedH5493 the strange 6godsH430, and the idolH5566 out of the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and all the altarsH4196 that he had builtH1129 on the mount of the houseH1004 of Jehovah and in JerusalemH3389, and castH7993 [them] out of the cityH5892. 16And he reinstated the altarH4196 of Jehovah, and sacrificedH2076 on it peace-offerings and thank-offerings, and commanded JudahH3063 to serveH5647 Jehovah the 7GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 17Nevertheless, the peopleH5971 sacrificedH2076 stillH5750 on the highH1116 placesH1116, although to Jehovah their 8GodH430 onlyH7535. 18And the restH3499 of the acts of ManassehH4519, and his prayerH8605 to his 9GodH430, and the wordsH1697 of the seersH2374 that spokeH1696 to him in the nameH8034 of Jehovah the 10GodH430 of IsraelH3478, behold, they [are written] in the acts of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478. 19And his prayerH8605, and [how 11God] was intreated of him, and all his sinH2403 and his unfaithfulnessH4604, and the placesH1116 in which he builtH1129 highH1116 placesH1116, and setH5975 up Asherahs and graven images, before he was humbledH3665, behold, they are writtenH3789 among the wordsH1697 of Hozai. 20And ManassehH4519 slept with his fathersH1, and they buriedH6912 him in his own houseH1004; and AmonH526 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his stead. 21AmonH526 was twenty-two yearsH8141 old when he began to reignH4427; and he reignedH4427 twoH8147 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389. 22And he did evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah, as ManassehH4519 his fatherH1 had done; and AmonH526 sacrificedH2076 to all the graven images that ManassehH4519 his fatherH1 had madeH6213, and servedH5647 them. 23And he did not humbleH3665 himself before Jehovah, as ManassehH4519 his fatherH1 had humbledH3665 himself; for he, AmonH526, multipliedH7235 trespass. 24And his servantsH5650 conspired against him, and slew him in his own houseH1004. 25But the peopleH5971 of the landH776 smote all them that had conspired against kingH4428 AmonH526; and the peopleH5971 of the landH776 made JosiahH2977 his sonH1121 kingH4428 in his stead.
