2 Chronicles 33

American Standard Version

1ManassehH4519 was twelve yearsH8141 old when he began to reignH4427; and he reignedH4427 fiftyH2572 and fiveH2568 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389. 2And he did that which was evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah, after the abominationsH8441 of the nationsH1471 whom Jehovah cast out before the children of IsraelH3478. 3For he builtH1129 again the highH1116 placesH1116 which HezekiahH2396 his fatherH1 had brokenH5422 downH7812; and he reared up altarsH4196 for the Baalim, and madeH6213 Asheroth, and worshipped all the hostH6635 of heavenH8064, and servedH5647 them. 4And he builtH1129 altarsH4196 in the houseH1004 of Jehovah, whereof Jehovah saidH559, In JerusalemH3389 shall my nameH8034 beH1961 for everH5769. 5And he builtH1129 altarsH4196 for all the hostH6635 of heavenH8064 in the twoH8147 courts of the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 6He also madeH6213 his children to passH5674 through the fireH784 in the valleyH1516 of the sonH1121 of HinnomH2011; and he practised augury, and used enchantments, and practised sorcery, and dealt with them that had familiar spirits, and with wizards: he wrought muchH7235 evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah, to provokeH3707 him to angerH3707. 7And he setH7760 the graven imageH6459 of the idolH6459, which he had madeH6213, in the houseH1004 of GodH430, of which GodH430 saidH559 to DavidH1732 and to SolomonH8010 his sonH1121, In this houseH1004, and in JerusalemH3389, which I have chosen out of all the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, will I putH7760 my nameH8034 for ever: 8neither will I any more removeH5493 the footH7272 of IsraelH3478 from off the landH127 which I have appointedH5975 for your fathersH1, if onlyH7535 they will observeH8104 to do all that I have commandedH6680 them, even all the lawH8451 and the statutesH2706 and the ordinancesH4941 given by MosesH4872. 9And ManassehH4519 seduced JudahH3063 and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, so that they did evilH7451 moreH4480 than did the nationsH1471 whom Jehovah destroyedH8045 before the children of IsraelH3478.

10And Jehovah spake to ManassehH4519, and to his peopleH5971; but they gave no heed. 11Wherefore Jehovah broughtH935 upon them the captains of the hostH6635 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, who tookH3920 ManassehH4519 in chains, and boundH631 him with fettersH5178, and carried him to BabylonH894. 12And when he was in distress, he besought Jehovah his GodH430, and humbledH3665 himself greatly before the GodH430 of his fathersH1. 13And he prayedH6419 unto him; and he was entreatedH6279 of him, and heardH8085 his supplicationH8467, and broughtH7725 him again to JerusalemH3389 into his kingdomH4438. Then ManassehH4519 knewH3045 that Jehovah he was GodH430.

14Now after this he builtH1129 an outerH2435 wallH2346 to the cityH5892 of DavidH1732, on the westH4628 side of GihonH1521, in the valley, even to the entrance at the fishH1709 gateH8179; and he compassed OphelH6077 about with it, and raised it up to a veryH3966 great height: and he putH7760 valiant captains in all the fortifiedH1219 citiesH5892 of JudahH3063. 15And he took awayH5493 the foreign godsH430, and the idolH5566 out of the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and all the altarsH4196 that he had builtH1129 in the mount of the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and in JerusalemH3389, and castH7993 them out of the cityH5892. 16And he built up the altarH4196 of Jehovah, and offeredH2076 thereon sacrificesH2077 of peace-offerings and of thanksgivingH8426, and commanded JudahH3063 to serveH5647 Jehovah, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 17Nevertheless the peopleH5971 sacrificedH2076 stillH5750 in the highH1116 placesH1116, but onlyH7535 unto Jehovah their GodH430.

18Now the restH3499 of the acts of ManassehH4519, and his prayerH8605 unto his GodH430, and the wordsH1697 of the seersH2374 that spake to him in the nameH8034 of Jehovah, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, behold, they are written among the acts of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478. 19His prayerH8605 also, and how God was entreatedH6279 of him, and all his sinH2403 and his trespass, and the placesH1116 wherein he builtH1129 highH1116 placesH1116, and setH5975 up the Asherim and the graven images, before he humbledH3665 himself, behold, they are writtenH3789 in the history of Hozai. 20So ManassehH4519 slept with his fathersH1, and they buriedH6912 him in his own houseH1004: and AmonH526 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his stead.

21AmonH526 was twentyH6242 and twoH8147 yearsH8141 old when he began to reignH4427; and he reignedH4427 twoH8147 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389. 22And he did that which was evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah, as did ManassehH4519 his fatherH1; and AmonH526 sacrificedH2076 unto all the graven images which ManassehH4519 his fatherH1 had madeH6213, and servedH5647 them. 23And he humbledH3665 not himself before Jehovah, as ManassehH4519 his fatherH1 had humbledH3665 himself; but this same AmonH526 trespassed more and more. 24And his servantsH5650 conspired against him, and putH4191 him to deathH4191 in his own houseH1004. 25But the peopleH5971 of the landH776 slew all them that had conspired against kingH4428 AmonH526; and the peopleH5971 of the landH776 made JosiahH2977 his sonH1121 kingH4428 in his stead.
