2 Chronicles 29
Darby Bible
1HezekiahH2396 began to reignH4427 being twenty-five yearsH8141 old; and he reignedH4427 twenty-nine yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389; and his mother's nameH8034 was AbijahH29, daughterH1323 of ZechariahH2148. 2And he did what was rightH3477 in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that DavidH1732 his fatherH1 had done. 3He, in the firstH7223 yearH8141 of his reignH4427, in the firstH7223 monthH2320, openedH6605 the doorsH1817 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and repairedH2388 them. 4And he broughtH935 in the priestsH3548 and the LevitesH3881, and gatheredH622 them into the openH7339 place eastward; 5and he saidH559 to them, HearH8085 me, ye LevitesH3881: hallow yourselves nowH6258, and hallow the houseH1004 of Jehovah the 1GodH430 of your fathersH1, and carry forthH3318 the filthiness out of the sanctuaryH6944. 6For our fathersH1 have transgressed, and done evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah our 2GodH430, and have forsaken him and turnedH5437 awayH5437 their facesH6440 from the habitation of Jehovah, and have turnedH5437 their backsH6203. 7AlsoH1571 they have shutH5462 up the doorsH1817 of the porchH197, and put out the lampsH5216, and have not burned incenseH7004 nor offeredH5927 up burnt-offerings in the sanctuaryH6944 to the 3GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 8Therefore the wrathH7110 of Jehovah has beenH1961 upon JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389, and he has delivered them to vexation, to desolationH8047, and to hissing, as ye seeH7200 with your eyesH5869. 9And behold, our fathersH1 have fallenH5307 by the swordH2719, and our sonsH1121 and our daughtersH1323 and our wivesH802 are in captivityH7628 for this. 10NowH6258 it is in my heartH3824 to makeH3772 a covenantH1285 with Jehovah the 4GodH430 of IsraelH3478, that his fierce angerH639 may turnH7725 awayH7725 from us. 11My sonsH1121, beH1961 not nowH6258 negligent; for Jehovah has chosen you to standH5975 before him, to do service unto him, and to beH1961 his ministers and incense-burners. 12Then the LevitesH3881 roseH6965 up, MahathH4287 the sonH1121 of AmasaiH6022, and JoelH3100 the sonH1121 of AzariahH5838, of the sonsH1121 of the KohathitesH6956; and of the sonsH1121 of MerariH4847, KishH7027 the sonH1121 of AbdiH5660, and AzariahH5838 the sonH1121 of Jehalleleel; and of the Gershonites, JoahH3098 the sonH1121 of ZimmahH2155, and EdenH5731 the sonH1121 of JoahH3098; 13and of the sonsH1121 of ElizaphanH469, ShimriH8113 and JeielH3273; and of the sonsH1121 of AsaphH623, ZechariahH2148 and MattaniahH4983; 14and of the sonsH1121 of HemanH1968, JehielH3171 and ShimeiH8096; and of the sonsH1121 of JeduthunH3038, ShemaiahH8098 and UzzielH5816. 15And they gatheredH622 their brethren, and hallowed themselves, and cameH935, according to the commandmentH4687 of the kingH4428 by the wordsH1697 of Jehovah, to cleanseH2891 the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 16And the priestsH3548 wentH3318 into the inner part of the houseH1004 of Jehovah to cleanseH2891 it, and carried forthH3318 all the uncleannessH2932 that they foundH4672 in the temple of Jehovah, into the courtH2691 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah. And the LevitesH3881 took it to carry it forthH3318 into the brook KidronH6939. 17And they beganH2490 on the firstH7223 of the firstH7223 monthH2320 to hallow, and on the eighth dayH3117 of the monthH2320 they cameH935 to the porchH197 of Jehovah; and they hallowed the houseH1004 of Jehovah eightH8083 daysH3117; and on the sixteenth dayH3117 of the firstH7223 monthH2320 they madeH6942 an endH3615. 18And they wentH935 in to kingH4428 HezekiahH2396, and saidH559, We have cleansedH2891 all the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and the altarH4196 of burnt-offering with all its vesselsH3627, and the tableH7979 of the [bread] to be set in rowsH4635, and all its vesselsH3627; 19and all the vesselsH3627 that kingH4428 AhazH271 in his reignH4438 cast away in his transgression have we preparedH3559 and hallowed, and behold, they are before the altarH4196 of Jehovah. 20And HezekiahH2396 the kingH4428 arose earlyH7925, and gatheredH622 the princesH8269 of the cityH5892, and wentH5927 up to the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 21And they broughtH935 sevenH7651 bullocks, and sevenH7651 ramsH352, and sevenH7651 lambsH3532, and sevenH7651 he-goats for a sin-offering for the kingdomH4467, and for the sanctuaryH4720, and for JudahH3063. And he commanded the priestsH3548 the sonsH1121 of AaronH175 to offerH5927 [them] upon the altarH4196 of Jehovah. 22And they slaughteredH7819 the bullocks, and the priestsH3548 received the bloodH1818, and sprinkledH2236 it on the altarH4196; and they slaughteredH7819 the ramsH352, and sprinkledH2236 the bloodH1818 on the altarH4196; and they slaughteredH7819 the lambsH3532, and sprinkledH2236 the bloodH1818 on the altarH4196. 23And they broughtH5066 near the he-goats of the sin-offering before the kingH4428 and the congregation; and they laidH5564 their handsH3027 upon them. 24And the priestsH3548 slaughteredH7819 them, and they made purification for sinH2398 with their bloodH1818 upon the altarH4196, to make an atonementH3722 for all IsraelH3478; because for all IsraelH3478, saidH559 the kingH4428, is the burnt-offering and the sin-offering. 25And he setH5975 the LevitesH3881 in the houseH1004 of Jehovah with cymbalsH4700, with lutes, and with harpsH3658, according to the commandmentH4687 of DavidH1732, and of GadH1410 the king's seerH2374, and of NathanH5416 the prophetH5030; for the commandmentH4687 was of Jehovah through his prophetsH5030. 26And the LevitesH3881 stoodH5975 with the instrumentsH3627 of DavidH1732, and the priestsH3548 with the trumpetsH2689. 27And HezekiahH2396 commanded to offerH5927 up the burnt-offering on the altarH4196. And at the moment the burnt-offering beganH2490, the songH7892 of Jehovah beganH2490, and the trumpetsH2689, accompanied by the instrumentsH3627 of DavidH1732 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478. 28And all the congregation worshipped, and the singersH7891 sangH7891, and the trumpeters sounded, all [the time] until the burnt-offering was finishedH3615. 29And when they had endedH3615 offeringH5927 the burnt-offering, the kingH4428 and all that were present with him bowedH7812 themselves and worshipped. 30And kingH4428 HezekiahH2396 and the princesH8269 commanded the LevitesH3881 to sing praiseH1984 to Jehovah with the wordsH1697 of DavidH1732, and of AsaphH623 the seerH2374. And they sang praises with gladnessH8057, and bowedH7812 their heads and worshipped. 31And HezekiahH2396 answered and saidH559, NowH6258 ye have consecrated yourselves to Jehovah, comeH935 near and bringH935 sacrificesH2077 and thank-offerings into the houseH1004 of the Lord. And the congregation broughtH935 in sacrificesH2077 and thank-offerings; and as many as were of a willingH5081 heartH3820, burnt-offerings. 32And the numberH4557 of the burnt-offerings, which the congregation broughtH935, wasH1961 seventyH7657 bullocks, a hundredH3967 ramsH352, twoH3967 hundredH3967 lambsH3532: all these were for a burnt-offering to Jehovah. 33And the consecratedH6942 thingsH7969 were sixH8337 hundredH3967 oxenH1241 and threeH7969 thousandH505 sheepH6629. 34OnlyH7535 the priestsH3548 wereH1961 too fewH4592, and they could not flay all the burnt-offerings; therefore their brethren the LevitesH3881 helped them, until the workH4399 wasH1961 endedH3615, and until the priestsH3548 had hallowed themselves; for the LevitesH3881 wereH1961 more uprightH3477 in heartH3824 to hallow themselves than the priestsH3548. 35And alsoH1571 the burnt-offerings were in abundanceH7230, with the fatH2459 of the peace-offerings, and with the drink-offerings for the burnt-offering. And the serviceH5656 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah was set in order. 36And HezekiahH2396 rejoicedH8055, and all the peopleH5971, that 5GodH430 had preparedH3559 the peopleH5971; for the thingH1697 wasH1961 done suddenlyH6597.
