2 Chronicles 30

Darby Bible

1And HezekiahH2396 sentH7971 to all IsraelH3478 and JudahH3063, and wroteH3789 lettersH107 alsoH1571 to EphraimH669 and ManassehH4519, that they should comeH935 to the houseH1004 of Jehovah at JerusalemH3389, to hold the passoverH6453 to Jehovah the 1GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 2And the kingH4428 tookH3289 counselH3289, and his princesH8269, and the whole congregation in JerusalemH3389, to hold the passoverH6453 in the secondH8145 monthH2320. 3For they could not keepH6942 it at that timeH6256, because the priestsH3548 had not hallowed themselves in sufficient number, neither had the peopleH5971 been gatheredH622 together to JerusalemH3389. 4And the thingH1697 pleased the kingH4428 and the whole congregation. 5So they established a decree to makeH6213 proclamationH6963 throughout IsraelH3478 from Beer-sheba even to DanH1835, that they should comeH935 to hold the passoverH6453 to Jehovah the 2GodH430 of IsraelH3478, at JerusalemH3389; because they had not held it for a long time as it was writtenH3789. 6And the couriersH7323 wentH7725 with the lettersH107 from the kingH4428 and his princesH8269 throughout IsraelH3478 and JudahH3063, and according to the commandmentH4687 of the kingH4428, sayingH559, Ye children of IsraelH3478, returnH7725 to Jehovah the 3GodH430 of AbrahamH85, IsaacH3327, and IsraelH3478, and he will returnH7725 to the remnantH7604 of you that are escapedH6413 out of the handH3027 of the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804. 7And beH1961 not like your fathersH1 and like your brethren, who transgressed against Jehovah the 4GodH430 of their fathersH1, so that he gaveH5414 them up to desolationH8047, as ye seeH7200. 8NowH6258, hardenH7185 not your necksH6203, as your fathersH1; yield yourselves to Jehovah, and comeH935 to his sanctuaryH4720, which he has sanctifiedH6942 for everH5769; and serveH5647 Jehovah your 5GodH430, that the fierceness of his angerH639 may turnH7725 awayH7725 from you. 9For if ye returnH7725 to Jehovah, your brethren and your children shall find compassionH7356 with those that have carried them captiveH7617, so that they shall come again unto this landH776; for Jehovah your 6GodH430 is graciousH2587 and merciful, and will not turnH7725 awayH5493 his faceH6440 from you, if ye returnH7725 to him. 10And the couriersH7323 passedH5674 from cityH5892 to cityH5892 through the country of EphraimH669 and ManassehH4519, even to ZebulunH2074; but they laughedH7832 them to scorn and mockedH3932 them. 11NeverthelessH389 certain of AsherH836 and ManassehH4519 and of ZebulunH2074 humbledH3665 themselves and cameH935 to JerusalemH3389. 12The handH3027 of 7GodH430 wasH1961 alsoH1571 upon JudahH3063 to giveH5414 them oneH259 heartH3820 to do the commandmentH4687 of the kingH4428 and of the princesH8269, by the wordH1697 of Jehovah. 13And there assembled at JerusalemH3389 much peopleH5971 to hold the feastH2282 of unleavenedH4682 breadH4682 in the secondH8145 monthH2320, a veryH3966 great congregation. 14And they roseH6965 up and took awayH5493 the altarsH4196 that were in JerusalemH3389; and they took awayH5493 all the incense-altars, and castH7993 them into the torrent KidronH6939. 15And they slaughteredH7819 the passoverH6453 on the fourteenth of the secondH8145 monthH2320; and the priestsH3548 and the LevitesH3881 were ashamedH3637, and hallowed themselves; and they broughtH935 the burnt-offerings into the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 16And they stoodH5975 in their place after their customH4941, according to the lawH8451 of MosesH4872 the manH376 of 8GodH430: the priestsH3548 sprinkledH2236 the bloodH1818 [receiving it] from the handH3027 of the LevitesH3881. 17For there were manyH7227 in the congregation that were not hallowed; therefore the LevitesH3881 had the charge of the slaughtering of the passover-lambs for every one not cleanH2889, to hallow them unto Jehovah. 18For a multitude of the peopleH5971, manyH7227 of EphraimH669 and ManassehH4519, IssacharH3485 and ZebulunH2074, had not cleansedH2891 themselves, and they ateH398 the passoverH6453 otherwise than it was writtenH3789. But HezekiahH2396 prayedH6419 for them sayingH559, Jehovah, who is goodH2896, forgive every one 19that has directedH3559 his heartH3824 to seekH1875 9GodH430, Jehovah the 10GodH430 of his fathersH1, although not according to the purificationH2893 of the sanctuaryH6944. 20And Jehovah hearkened to HezekiahH2396, and healedH7495 the peopleH5971. 21And the children of IsraelH3478, that were present at JerusalemH3389, held the feastH2282 of unleavenedH4682 breadH4682 sevenH7651 daysH3117 with greatH1419 gladnessH8057; and the LevitesH3881 and the priestsH3548 praisedH1984 Jehovah dayH3117 by dayH3117, with the instrumentsH3627 of praiseH1984 to Jehovah. 22And HezekiahH2396 spokeH1696 consolingly to all the LevitesH3881 that had understanding in the goodH2896 knowledge of Jehovah; and they ateH398 the feast-offerings the sevenH7651 daysH3117, sacrificingH2076 peace-offerings, and extolling Jehovah the 11GodH430 of their fathersH1. 23And the whole congregation tookH3289 counselH3289 to observeH6213 otherH312 sevenH7651 daysH3117; and they observedH6213 the sevenH7651 daysH3117 with gladnessH8057. 24For HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 gave to the congregation as heave-offering: a thousandH505 bullocks and sevenH7651 thousandH505 sheepH6629; and the princesH8269 gave to the congregation a thousandH505 bullocks and tenH6235 thousandH505 sheepH6629; and a great number of priestsH3548 hallowed themselves. 25And the whole congregation of JudahH3063, with the priestsH3548 and the LevitesH3881, and all the congregation that cameH935 out of IsraelH3478, and the strangers that cameH935 out of the landH776 of IsraelH3478, and that dweltH3427 in JudahH3063, rejoicedH8055. 26And there wasH1961 greatH1419 joyH8057 in JerusalemH3389; for since the time of SolomonH8010 the sonH1121 of DavidH1732, kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, there had not beenH1961 the like in JerusalemH3389. 27And the priestsH3548 the LevitesH3881 aroseH6965 and blessedH1288 the peopleH5971; and their voiceH6963 was heardH8085, and their prayerH8605 cameH935 up to his holyH6944 habitationH4583, to the heavensH8064.
