Darby Bible

1And JosiahH2977 held a passoverH6453 to Jehovah in JerusalemH3389; and they slaughteredH7819 the passoverH6453 on the fourteenth of the firstH7223 monthH2320. 2And he setH5975 the priestsH3548 in their charges, and encouragedH2388 them to the serviceH5656 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 3And he saidH559 to the LevitesH3881, that taught all IsraelH3478, [and] who were holyH6944 to Jehovah, PutH5414 the holyH6944 arkH727 in the houseH1004 that SolomonH8010 the sonH1121 of DavidH1732, kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, builtH1129; ye have not to carryH4853 it upon your shouldersH3802. ServeH5647 nowH6258 Jehovah your 1GodH430, and his peopleH5971 IsraelH3478; 4and prepareH3559 yourselves by your fathers' housesH1004, in your divisionsH4256, according to the writing of DavidH1732 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, and according to the writing of SolomonH8010 his sonH1121; 5and standH5975 in the sanctuaryH6944 for the classes of the fathers' housesH1004, for your brethren, the children of the peopleH5971, and [according] to the divisions of the fathers' housesH1004 of the LevitesH3881; 6and slaughterH7819 the passoverH6453, and hallow yourselves, and prepareH3559 it for your brethren, that they may do according to the wordH1697 of Jehovah through MosesH4872. 7And JosiahH2977 gave for the children of the peopleH5971 a heave-offering of the flocksH6629, lambsH3532 and goatsH5795, all for the passover-offerings, for all that were present — to the numberH4557 of thirtyH7970 thousandH505, and threeH7969 thousandH505 bullocks: these were of the king's substance. 8And his princesH8269 gaveH5414 a voluntary heave-offering for the peopleH5971, for the priestsH3548, and for the LevitesH3881: Hilkijah and ZechariahH2148 and JehielH3171, rulers of the houseH1004 of 2GodH430, gaveH5414 to the priestsH3548 for the passover-offerings twoH3967 thousandH505 sixH8337 hundredH3967 [small cattleH1241] and threeH7969 hundredH3967 oxenH1241; 9and Conaniah, and ShemaiahH8098 and Nethaneel, his brethren, and HashabiahH2811 and JeielH3273 and JozabadH3107, chiefH8269 of the LevitesH3881, gave as heave-offering to the LevitesH3881 for the passover-offerings fiveH2568 thousandH505 [small cattleH1241] and fiveH2568 hundredH3967 oxenH1241. 10And the serviceH5656 was preparedH3559, and the priestsH3548 stoodH5975 in their place, and the LevitesH3881 in their divisionsH4256, according to the king's commandmentH4687. 11And they slaughteredH7819 the passoverH6453, and the priestsH3548 sprinkledH2236 [the blood] from their handH3027, and the LevitesH3881 flayed them. 12And they setH5414 apart the burnt-offerings to giveH5414 them to the classes of the fathers' housesH1004 of the children of the peopleH5971, to presentH7126 them to Jehovah, as it is writtenH3789 in the bookH5612 of MosesH4872. And soH3651 [did they] with the oxenH1241. 13And they roasted the passoverH6453 with fireH784 according to the ordinanceH4941; and the consecrated thingsH6944 they boiledH1310 in potsH5518 and in cauldrons and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the children of the peopleH5971. 14And afterwards they made ready for themselves and for the priestsH3548; because the priestsH3548, the sonsH1121 of AaronH175, [were engaged] in offeringH5927 up the burnt-offerings and the fatH2459 until nightH3915; therefore the LevitesH3881 preparedH3559 for themselves, and for the priestsH3548, the sonsH1121 of AaronH175. 15And the singersH7891, the sonsH1121 of AsaphH623, were in their place, according to the commandmentH4687 of DavidH1732, and AsaphH623, and HemanH1968, and JeduthunH3038 the king's seerH2374; and the doorkeepers were at every gateH8179; they had not to departH5493 from their serviceH5656, for their brethren the LevitesH3881 preparedH3559 for them. 16And all the serviceH5656 of Jehovah was preparedH3559 the same dayH3117, to hold the passoverH6453, and to offerH5927 burnt-offerings on the altarH4196 of Jehovah according to the commandmentH4687 of kingH4428 JosiahH2977. 17And the children of IsraelH3478 that were present held the passoverH6453 at that timeH6256, and the feastH2282 of unleavenedH4682 breadH4682 sevenH7651 daysH3117. 18And there was no passoverH6453 likeH3644 to that holden in IsraelH3478 from the daysH3117 of SamuelH8050 the prophetH5030; neither did all the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478 hold such a passoverH6453 as JosiahH2977 held, and the priestsH3548, and the LevitesH3881, and all JudahH3063 and IsraelH3478 that were present, and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389. 19In the eighteenth yearH8141 of the reignH4438 of JosiahH2977 was this passoverH6453 holden. 20After all this, whenH834 JosiahH2977 had arranged the houseH1004, NechoH5224 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 cameH3318 up to fightH3898 against Karkemish at the EuphratesH6578; and JosiahH2977 wentH3318 out against him. 21And he sentH7971 messengersH4397 to him, sayingH559, What have I to do with thee, thou kingH4428 of JudahH3063? I come not against thee this dayH3117, but against the houseH1004 with which I have warH4421; and 3GodH430 has told me to make haste: keep aloof from 4GodH430 who is with me, that he destroyH7843 thee not. 22But JosiahH2977 would not turnH5437 his faceH6440 from him, but disguisedH2664 himself, that he might fightH3898 against him; and he hearkened not to the wordsH1697 of NechoH5224 from the mouthH6310 of 5GodH430; and he cameH935 to fightH3898 in the valleyH1237 of MegiddoH4023. 23And the archersH3384 shotH3384 at kingH4428 JosiahH2977; and the kingH4428 saidH559 to his servantsH5650, Have me awayH5674, for I am sore woundedH2470. 24And his servantsH5650 took him out from the chariotH4818, and putH4191 him in the secondH4932 chariotH4818 that he had, and brought him to JerusalemH3389. And he diedH4191, and was buriedH6912 in the sepulchres of his fathersH1. And all JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389 mournedH56 for JosiahH2977. 25And JeremiahH3414 lamented for JosiahH2977; and all the singingH7891 men and singingH7891 women spoke of JosiahH2977 in their lamentationsH7015 to this dayH3117; and they madeH5414 them an ordinance for IsraelH3478. And behold, they are writtenH3789 in the lamentationsH7015. 26And the restH3499 of the acts of JosiahH2977, and his good deeds, according to that which is writtenH3789 in the lawH8451 of Jehovah, 27and his acts, firstH7223 and lastH314, behold, they are writtenH3789 in the bookH5612 of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478 and JudahH3063.
