2 Chronicles 7

Darby Bible

1And when SolomonH8010 had endedH3615 prayingH6419, the fireH784 cameH3381 downH3381 from the heavensH8064 and consumedH398 the burnt-offering and the sacrificesH2077; and the gloryH3519 of Jehovah filledH4390 the houseH1004. 2And the priestsH3548 could not enter into the houseH1004 of Jehovah, because the gloryH3519 of Jehovah filledH4390 Jehovah's houseH1004. 3And all the children of IsraelH3478 sawH7200 how the fireH784 cameH3381 downH3381, and the gloryH3519 of Jehovah upon the houseH1004, and bowedH7812 themselves with their facesH639 to the groundH776 on the pavementH7531, and worshipped and thanked Jehovah: For he is goodH2896, for his loving-kindness [endureth] for everH5769. 4And the kingH4428 and all the peopleH5971 offeredH2076 sacrificesH2077 before Jehovah. 5And kingH4428 SolomonH8010 sacrificedH2076 a sacrificeH2077 of twenty-two thousandH505 oxenH1241, and a hundredH3967 and twentyH6242 thousandH505 sheepH6629. So the kingH4428 and all the peopleH5971 dedicated the houseH1004 of 1GodH430. 6And the priestsH3548 stoodH5975 in their charges, and the LevitesH3881 with Jehovah's instrumentsH3627 of music, which DavidH1732 the kingH4428 had madeH6213 to praiseH1984 Jehovah, for his loving-kindness [endureth] for everH5769, when DavidH1732 praisedH1984 by their means; and the priestsH3548 sounded the trumpetsH2690 opposite to them, and all IsraelH3478 stoodH5975. 7And SolomonH8010 hallowed the middleH8432 of the courtH2691 that was before the houseH1004 of Jehovah; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the fatH2459 of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altarH4196 which SolomonH8010 had madeH6213 was not ableH3201 to receive the burnt-offerings and the oblations and the fatH2459. 8And at that timeH6256 SolomonH8010 held the feastH2282 sevenH7651 daysH3117, and all IsraelH3478 with him, a veryH3966 greatH1419 congregation, from the entrance of HamathH2574 unto the torrent of EgyptH4714. 9And on the eighthH8066 dayH3117 they held a solemnH6116 assemblyH6116; for they kept the dedicationH2598 of the altarH4196 sevenH7651 daysH3117, and the feastH2282 sevenH7651 daysH3117. 10And on the threeH7969 and twentieth dayH3117 of the seventhH7637 monthH2320 he sentH7971 the peopleH5971 awayH7971 to their tentsH168, joyfulH8056 and glad of heartH3820 for the goodness that Jehovah had done to DavidH1732 and to SolomonH8010, and to IsraelH3478 his peopleH5971. 11And SolomonH8010 completedH3615 the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and the king's houseH1004; and all that cameH935 into Solomon's heartH3820 to makeH6213 in the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and in his own houseH1004, he did prosperously. 12Then Jehovah appearedH7200 to SolomonH8010 by nightH3915, and saidH559 to him: I have heardH8085 thy prayerH8605, and I have chosenH977 for myself this placeH4725 for a houseH1004 of sacrificeH2077. 13If I shutH6113 up the heavensH8064 that there beH1961 no rainH4306, or if I commandH6680 the locust to devourH398 the landH776, or if I sendH7971 pestilenceH1698 among my peopleH5971; 14and my peopleH5971, who are calledH7121 by my nameH8034, humbleH3665 themselves, and prayH6419, and seekH1245 my faceH6440, and turnH7725 from their wickedH7451 waysH1870; then will I hearH8085 from the heavensH8064, and forgiveH5545 their sinH2403, and healH7495 their landH776. 15NowH6258 mine eyesH5869 shall beH1961 openH6605, and mine earsH241 attentive to the prayerH8605 [made] in this placeH4725; 16for I have nowH6258 chosenH977 and hallowed this houseH1004, that my nameH8034 may beH1961 there for everH5769; and mine eyesH5869 and my heartH3820 shall beH1961 there perpetually. 17And [as for] thee, if thou wilt walkH1980 before me, as DavidH1732 thy fatherH1 walkedH1980, to do according to all that I have commandedH6680 thee, and wilt keepH8104 my statutesH2706 and mine ordinancesH4941; 18then will I establishH6965 the throneH3678 of thy kingdomH4438, according as I have covenanted with DavidH1732 thy fatherH1, sayingH559, There shall not fail thee a manH376 to ruleH4910 over IsraelH3478. 19But if ye turnH7725 awayH7725 and forsakeH5800 my statutesH2708 and my commandmentsH4687 which I have setH5414 before you, and goH1980 and serveH5647 otherH312 2godsH430 and worship them; 20then will I pluckH5428 them up by the roots out of my landH127 which I have givenH5414 them; and this houseH1004, which I have hallowed to my nameH8034, will I castH7993 out of my sight, and will makeH5414 it a proverbH4912 and a bywordH4912 among all peoplesH5971. 21And this houseH1004, which is high, shall beH1961 an astonishment to every oneH2088 that passesH5674 by it; so that he shall sayH559, WhyH4100 has Jehovah done thusH3602 to this landH776 and to this houseH1004? 22And they shall sayH559, Because they forsook Jehovah the 3GodH430 of their fathersH1, who broughtH935 them forthH3318 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and have attached themselves to otherH312 4godsH430, and have worshipped them and servedH5647 them; thereforeH3651 he has broughtH935 upon them all this evilH7451.
