1And in the seventhH7637 yearH8141 JehoiadaH3077 strengthenedH2388 himself, and tookH3947 the captains of the hundredsH3967, AzariahH5838 the sonH1121 of JerohamH3395, and IshmaelH3458 the sonH1121 of JehohananH3076, and AzariahH5838 the sonH1121 of ObedH5744, and MaaseiahH4641 the sonH1121 of AdaiahH5718, and Elishaphat the sonH1121 of Zichri, into covenantH1285 with him. 2And they wentH935 about in JudahH3063 and gatheredH6908 togetherH6908 the LevitesH3881 out of all the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, and the chiefH7218 fathersH1 of IsraelH3478; and they cameH935 to JerusalemH3389. 3And all the congregation madeH3772 a covenantH1285 with the kingH4428 in the houseH1004 of 1GodH430. And he saidH559 to them, Behold, the king's sonH1121 shall reignH4427, as Jehovah has saidH559 of the sonsH1121 of DavidH1732. 4This is the thingH1697 which ye shall do: a thirdH7992 part of you that comeH935 in on the sabbathH7676, of the priestsH3548 and of the LevitesH3881, shall be keepers of the doors; 5and a thirdH7992 partH7992 shall be at the king's houseH1004; and a thirdH7992 partH7992 at the gateH8179 of the foundationH3247; and all the peopleH5971 shall be in the courts of the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 6But let none comeH935 into the houseH1004 of Jehovah except the priestsH3548 and those of the LevitesH3881 that do the service; they shall goH935 in, for they are holyH6944; but all the peopleH5971 shall keepH8104 the watchH8104 of Jehovah. 7And the LevitesH3881 shall encompass the kingH4428 roundH5439 about, every manH376 with his weaponsH3627 in his handH3027; and he that comesH935 into the houseH1004 shall beH1961 putH4191 to deathH4191; and ye shall beH1961 with the kingH4428 when he comesH935 in and when he goesH3318 out. 8And the LevitesH3881 and all JudahH3063 did according to all that JehoiadaH3077 the priestH3548 commandedH6680; and they tookH3947 every manH376 his menH376, those that were to comeH935 in on the sabbathH7676, with them that were to goH3318 forthH3318 on the sabbathH7676; for JehoiadaH3077 the priestH3548 did not liberate the divisionsH4256. 9And JehoiadaH3077 the priestH3548 gaveH5414 to the captains of the hundredsH3967 kingH4428 David's spearsH2595 and shieldsH4043 and targets, which were in the houseH1004 of 2GodH430. 10And he setH5975 all the peopleH5971, every manH376 with his javelin in his handH3027, from the rightH3233 sideH3802 of the houseH1004 to the left sideH3802 of the houseH1004, toward the altarH4196 and the houseH1004, by the kingH4428 roundH5439 about. 11And they broughtH3318 forthH3318 the king's sonH1121, and putH5414 the crownH5145 upon him, and [gaveH5414 him] the testimonyH5715, and madeH5414 him kingH4428. And JehoiadaH3077 and his sonsH1121 anointedH4886 him, and saidH559, Long liveH2421 the kingH4428! 12And AthaliahH6271 heardH8085 the noise of the peopleH5971 runningH7323 and praisingH1984 the kingH4428, and she cameH935 to the peopleH5971 into the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 13And she lookedH7200, and behold, the kingH4428 stoodH5975 on his dais at the entranceH3996, and the princesH8269 and the trumpetsH2689 were by the kingH4428; and all the peopleH5971 of the landH776 rejoicedH8055, and blew with trumpetsH2689; and the singersH7891 [were there] with the instrumentsH3627 of music, and such as taught to singH7891 praiseH1984. ConspiracyH7195! 14And JehoiadaH3077 the priestH3548 broughtH935 out the captains of the hundredsH3967 that were set over the host, and saidH559 to them, Lead her forthH3318 without the ranksH7713; and whosoever follows her, let him be slain with the swordH2719; for the priestH3548 saidH559, Ye shall not putH4191 her to deathH4191 in the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 15And they madeH7760 way for her, and she wentH935 through the entranceH3996 of the horse-gate into the king's houseH1004, and they putH4191 her to deathH4191 there. 16And JehoiadaH3077 madeH3772 a covenantH1285 between himself and all the peopleH5971 and the kingH4428, that they should beH1961 the peopleH5971 of Jehovah. 17And all the peopleH5971 wentH935 into the houseH1004 of BaalH1168, and brokeH7665 it downH5422; and they brokeH7665 his altarsH4196 and his imagesH6754 in pieces, and slewH2026 MattanH4977 the priestH3548 of BaalH1168 before the altarsH4196. 18And JehoiadaH3077 appointedH7760 the officesH6486 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah under the handH3027 of the priestsH3548, the LevitesH3881, whom DavidH1732 had setH7760 by classes over the houseH1004 of Jehovah to offerH5927 up Jehovah's burnt-offerings, as it is writtenH3789 in the lawH8451 of MosesH4872, — with rejoicing and with singing according to the directions of DavidH1732. 19And he setH5975 the doorkeepers at the gatesH8179 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah, that no one uncleanH2931 in anything should enter in. 20And he tookH3947 the captains of the hundredsH3967, and the noblesH117, and the governors of the peopleH5971, and all the peopleH5971 of the landH776, and broughtH935 down the kingH4428 from the houseH1004 of Jehovah; and they cameH935 through the upperH5945 gateH8179 into the king's houseH1004, and set the kingH4428 upon the throneH3678 of the kingdomH4467. 21And all the peopleH5971 of the landH776 rejoicedH8055, and the cityH5892 was quietH8252; and they had slain AthaliahH6271 with the swordH2719.
