2 Chronicles 33
Revised Version 1895
1ManassehH4519 was twelveH6240 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reignH4427; and he reignedH4427 fiftyH2572 and fiveH2568 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389, 2And he didH6213 that whichH834 was evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, after the abominationsH8441 of the heathen, whomH834 the LORDH3068 castH3423 outH3423 beforeH6440 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478. 3For he builtH1129 againH7725 the highH1116 placesH1116 whichH834 HezekiahH2396 his fatherH1 had brokenH5422 downH7812; and he reared upH6965 altarsH4196 for the Baalim, and madeH6213 AsherothH842, and worshipped allH3605 the hostH6635 of heavenH8064, and servedH5647 them. 4And he builtH1129 altarsH4196 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, whereof the LORDH3068 saidH559, In JerusalemH3389 shall my nameH8034 be foreverH5769. 5And he builtH1129 altarsH4196 for allH3605 the hostH6635 of heavenH8064 in the twoH8147 courts of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. 6He also madeH6213 his ChildrenH1121 to passH5674 throughH5674 the fireH784 in the valleyH1516 of the sonH1121 of HinnomH2011: and he practised augury, and usedH6213 enchantmentsH5172, and practised sorceryH3784, and dealt with them that had familiar spirits, and with wizards: he wrought muchH7235 evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, to provokeH3707 him to angerH3707. 7And he setH7760 the gravenH6459 imageH6459 of the idolH6459, whichH834 he had madeH6213 in the houseH1004 of GodH430, of whichH834 GodH430 saidH559 to DavidH1732 and to SolomonH8010 his sonH1121, In this houseH1004, and in JerusalemH3389, whichH834 I have chosen outH413 of allH3605 the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, will I putH7760 my nameH8034 for everH2088: 8neitherH3808 will I anyH3605 moreH3254 removeH5493 the footH7272 of IsraelH3478 from offH5921 the landH127 whichH834 I have appointedH5975 for your fathersH1; ifH518 onlyH7535 they will observeH8104 to doH6213 allH3605 that I have commandedH6680 them, evenH3808 allH3605 the lawH8451 and the statutesH2706 and the ordinancesH4941 by the handH3027 of MosesH4872. 9And ManassehH4519 madeH6213 JudahH3063 and the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 to errH8582, soH4480 that they didH6213 evilH7451 moreH4480 thanH4480 didH6213 the nationsH1471, whomH834 the LORDH3068 destroyedH8045 beforeH6440 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478. 10And the LORDH3068 spake to ManassehH4519, and to his peopleH5971: but they gaveH7181 noH3808 heedH7181. 11Wherefore the LORDH3068 broughtH935 uponH5921 them the captainsH8269 of the hostH6635 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, whichH834 tookH3920 ManassehH4519 in chainsH5178, and boundH631 him with fettersH5178, and carriedH935 him to BabylonH894. 12And when he was in distress, he besought the LORDH3068 his GodH430, and humbledH3665 himselfH3665 greatlyH3966 beforeH6440 the GodH430 of his fathersH1. 13And he prayedH6419 unto him; and he was entreatedH6279 of him, and heardH8085 his supplicationH8467, and broughtH7725 him againH7725 to JerusalemH3389 intoH413 his kingdomH4438. Then ManassehH4519 knewH3045 that the LORDH3068 he was GodH430. 14NowH935 afterH310 this he builtH1129 an outerH2435 wallH2346 to the cityH5892 of DavidH1732, on the westH4628 sideH4628 of GihonH1521, in the valleyH5158, evenH3651 to the enteringH935 in at the fishH1709 gateH8179; and he compassed aboutH5437 OphelH6077, and raised it upH1129 a veryH3966 greatH3966 height: and he putH7760 valiantH2428 captainsH8269 in allH3605 the fenced citiesH5892 of JudahH3063. 15And he tookH5493 awayH5493 the strangeH5236 godsH430, and the idolH5566 outH7993 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and allH3605 the altarsH4196 that he had builtH1129 in the mountH2022 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and in JerusalemH3389, and castH7993 them outH7993 of the cityH5892. 16And he built upH5921 the altarH4196 of the LORDH3068, and offeredH2076 thereonH5921 sacrificesH2077 of peaceH8002 offeringsH8002 and of thanksgivingH8426, and commandedH559 JudahH3063 to serveH5647 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 17NeverthelessH61 the peopleH5971 didH5750 sacrificeH2076 stillH5750 in the highH1116 placesH1116, but onlyH7535 unto the LORDH3068 their GodH430. 18NowH2005 the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of ManassehH4519, and his prayerH8605 unto his GodH430, and the wordsH1697 of the seersH2374 that spake to him in the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, beholdH2005, they are written among the actsH1697 of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478. 19His prayerH8605 also, and howH834 God was entreatedH6279 of him, and allH3605 his sinH2403 and his trespassH4604, and the placesH1116 whereinH834 he builtH1129 highH1116 placesH1116, and setH5975 upH5975 the AsherimH842 and the gravenH6456 imagesH6456, beforeH6440 he humbledH3665 himselfH3665: beholdH2005, they are writtenH3789 in the history of HozaiH2335. 20So ManassehH4519 sleptH7901 with his fathersH1, and they buriedH6912 him in his ownH5973 houseH1004: and AmonH526 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8478. 21AmonH526 was twentyH6242 and twoH8147 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reignH4427; and he reignedH4427 twoH8147 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389. 22And he didH6213 that whichH834 was evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, as didH6213 ManassehH4519 his fatherH1: and AmonH526 sacrificedH2076 unto allH3605 the gravenH6456 imagesH6456 whichH834 ManassehH4519 his fatherH1 had madeH6213, and servedH5647 them. 23And he humbledH3665 notH3808 himselfH1931 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, as ManassehH4519 his fatherH1 had humbledH3665 himselfH1931; but this sameH1931 AmonH526 trespassed moreH3808 and moreH3808. 24And his servantsH5650 conspiredH7194 againstH5921 him, and putH4191 him to deathH4191 in his own houseH1004. 25But the peopleH5971 of the landH776 slewH5221 allH3605 them that had conspiredH7194 againstH5921 kingH4428 AmonH526; and the peopleH5971 of the landH776 madeH7194 JosiahH2977 his sonH1121 kingH4428 in his steadH8478.
