2 Chronicles 12
Darby Bible
1And it came to pass when the kingdomH4438 of RehoboamH7346 wasH1961 establishedH3559, and when he had becomeH1961 strong, [that] he forsook the lawH8451 of Jehovah, and all IsraelH3478 with him. 2And it came to pass in the fifthH2549 yearH8141 of kingH4428 RehoboamH7346, because they had transgressed against Jehovah, that ShishakH7895 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 came up against JerusalemH3389, 3with twelve hundredH3967 chariotsH7393 and sixtyH8346 thousandH505 horsemenH6571; and the peopleH5971 were without numberH4557 that cameH935 with him out of EgyptH4714: LibyansH3864, Sukkites, and Ethiopians. 4And he tookH3920 the fortified citiesH5892 that belonged to JudahH3063, and cameH935 to JerusalemH3389. 5And ShemaiahH8098 the prophetH5030 cameH935 to RehoboamH7346 and [to] the princesH8269 of JudahH3063 that had gatheredH622 together to JerusalemH3389 because of ShishakH7895, and saidH559 to them, ThusH3541 saith Jehovah: Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I alsoH637 leftH5800 you in the handH3027 of ShishakH7895. 6And the princesH8269 of IsraelH3478 and the kingH4428 humbledH3665 themselves; and they saidH559, Jehovah is righteousH6662. 7And when Jehovah sawH7200 that they humbledH3665 themselves, the wordH1697 of Jehovah came to ShemaiahH8098, sayingH559, They have humbledH3665 themselves: I will not destroyH7843 them, but I will grant them a littleH4592 deliveranceH6413; and my wrathH2534 shall not beH1961 pouredH5413 out upon JerusalemH3389 by the handH3027 of ShishakH7895. 8Nevertheless they shall beH1961 his servantsH5650; that they may knowH3045 my serviceH5656, and the serviceH5656 of the kingdomsH4467 of the countries. 9And ShishakH7895 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 cameH5927 up against JerusalemH3389, and tookH3947 awayH3947 the treasuresH214 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and the treasuresH214 of the king's houseH1004; he tookH3947 awayH3947 all; and he tookH3947 awayH3947 the shieldsH4043 of goldH2091 that SolomonH8010 had madeH6213. 10And kingH4428 RehoboamH7346 madeH6213 in their stead shieldsH4043 of bronzeH5178, and committed them to the handsH3027 of the chiefH8269 of the couriersH7323 who keptH8104 the entranceH6607 of the king's houseH1004. 11And it wasH1961 so, that as oftenH1767 as the kingH4428 entered into the houseH1004 of Jehovah, the couriersH7323 cameH935 and fetched them, and broughtH935 them again into the chamber of the couriersH7323. 12And when he humbledH3665 himself, the angerH639 of Jehovah turnedH7725 awayH7725 from him, that he would not destroyH7843 him altogether; and alsoH1571 in JudahH3063 there wereH1961 goodH2896 thingsH1697. 13And kingH4428 RehoboamH7346 strengthenedH2388 himself in JerusalemH3389, and reignedH4427; for RehoboamH7346 was forty-one yearsH8141 old when he began to reignH4427, and he reignedH4427 seventeen yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389, the cityH5892 that Jehovah had chosenH977 out of all the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, to putH7760 his nameH8034 there: and his mother's nameH8034 was NaamahH5279 an Ammonitess. 14And he did evilH7451, for he applied not his heartH3820 to seekH1875 Jehovah. 15And the acts of RehoboamH7346, firstH7223 and lastH314, are they not writtenH3789 in the wordsH1697 of ShemaiahH8098 the prophetH5030, and of IddoH5714 the seerH2374, in the genealogicalH3187 registers? And there were warsH4421 between RehoboamH7346 and JeroboamH3379 continually. 16And RehoboamH7346 slept with his fathersH1, and was buriedH6912 in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732. And AbijahH29 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his stead.
