2 Chronicles 8

Darby Bible

1And it came to pass at the endH7093 of twentyH6242 yearsH8141, when SolomonH8010 had builtH1129 the houseH1004 of Jehovah and his own houseH1004, 2that the citiesH5892 which HuramH2361 had givenH5414 to SolomonH8010, SolomonH8010 builtH1129 them and caused the children of IsraelH3478 to dwellH3427 there. 3And SolomonH8010 went to Hamath-Zobah, and overcame it. 4And he builtH1129 TadmorH8412, in the wildernessH4057, and all the store-cities, which he builtH1129 in HamathH2574. 5And he builtH1129 upperH5945 Beth-HoronH1032 and lower Beth-HoronH1032, fortified citiesH5892, with wallsH2346, gates, and barsH1280; 6and BaalathH1191, and all the store-cities that SolomonH8010 had, and all the citiesH5892 for chariotsH7393, and the citiesH5892 for the horsemenH6571, and all that SolomonH8010 desired to buildH1129 in JerusalemH3389, and on LebanonH3844, and in all the landH776 of his dominion. 7All the peopleH5971 that were leftH3498 of the HittitesH2850, and the AmoritesH567, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of IsraelH3478, 8their children that were leftH3498 after them in the landH776, whom the children of IsraelH3478 had not destroyedH3615, upon them did SolomonH8010 impose tribute-service until this dayH3117. 9But of the children of IsraelH3478, of them did SolomonH8010 makeH5414 no bondmen for his workH4399; but they were menH376 of warH4421, and chiefH8269 of his captains, and captains of his chariotsH7393 and his horsemenH6571. 10And these were the chiefH8269 of kingH4428 Solomon's superintendents, twoH3967 hundredH3967 and fiftyH2572, that ruled over the peopleH5971. 11And SolomonH8010 broughtH935 up the daughterH1323 of PharaohH6547 out of the cityH5892 of DavidH1732 to the houseH1004 which he had builtH1129 for her; for he saidH559, My wifeH802 shall not dwellH3427 in the houseH1004 of DavidH1732 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, because the [places] are holyH6944 to which the arkH727 of Jehovah has comeH935. 12ThenH227 SolomonH8010 offeredH5927 up burnt-offerings to Jehovah on the altarH4196 of Jehovah, which he had builtH1129 before the porchH197; 13even as the duty of every dayH3117 required, offeringH5927 according to the commandmentH4687 of MosesH4872, on the sabbathsH7676, and on the newH2320 moonsH2320, and at the set feastsH4150, threeH7969 timesH6471 in the yearH8141, — at the feastH2282 of unleavenedH4682 breadH4682, and at the feastH2282 of weeksH7620, and at the feastH2282 of tabernacles. 14And he appointedH5975, according to the ordinanceH4941 of DavidH1732 his fatherH1, the divisionsH4256 of the priestsH3548 for their serviceH5656, and the LevitesH3881 for their charges, to praiseH1984 and serveH8334 before the priestsH3548, as the dutyH4931 of every dayH3117 required; and the doorkeepers by their divisionsH4256 at every gateH8179: for such was the commandmentH4687 of DavidH1732 the manH376 of 1GodH430; 15and they did not departH5493 from the commandmentH4687 of the kingH4428 to the priestsH3548 and the LevitesH3881 concerning any matterH1697, nor concerning the treasuresH214. 16And all the workH4399 of SolomonH8010 was preparedH3559, to the dayH3117 of the foundationH4143 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah and to its completion. [So] the houseH1004 of Jehovah was finishedH3615. 17ThenH227 wentH1980 SolomonH8010 to Ezion-geberH6100, and to Eloth, on the seashore in the landH776 of EdomH123. 18And HuramH2361 sentH7971 him by his servantsH5650 shipsH591, and servantsH5650 that had knowledge of the seaH3220; and they wentH935 with the servantsH5650 of SolomonH8010 to OphirH211, and fetched thence fourH702 hundredH3967 and fiftyH2572 talentsH3603 of goldH2091, and broughtH935 them to kingH4428 SolomonH8010.
